  1. Welcome back, I've missed your posting on the Flyers forum.

Thanks ya been a crazy busy year but eventually I'll get active again.

      Thanks again for the note.

  2. I hate the idea of a year-long lockout but (I think) I hate guaranteed contracts even more. Regarding Jake, Jack makes a good point, you win with proven talent and though G/Jake aren't quite Toews/Kane with a better team around them I believe they're both capable of leading the offense to a Cup. For a long stretch of the season those 2 led the league in points - I forget the exact stats but G/J is a lethal combination. I don't think Voracek is worth anywhere near 8 million a year but if 7 million is what it takes the Flyers are better off with him than without him. I guess the main thing is finding a winger who will complete that line.
  3. I don't see how Voracek's ES production is a problem. Last season half of Voracek's goals came on the PP - 11 PP / 11 ES = 22. The year before, 8 PP / 15 ES = 23. I can't find his assists breakdown. At even strength his line mates aren't exactly snipers....Raffl, BSchenn....can't remember who else. If the Flyers can find or develop a winger for that top line Voracek's ES assist totals will go up. His goal-scoring at ES isn't a problem - unless I'm missing something. I hope he's not expecting an $8mil/year offer. He should get ~$32mil over 5 years - something along those lines.
  4. Apparently. A guy that big and strong who's proven he can play with Getzlaf - on a team with unlimited potential to win more Cups - and he gets himself benched. That's a red flag if there ever was one.
  5. yeah the 2010 series the Hawks were just better, the Flyers were out of gas, couldn't score etc. but STINKLE not paying attention, that stings, even 30+ years later. "and thank you so much for bringing up such a painful subject. While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it? We're closed!"
  6. haha that's good stuff - but what a damn shame about Dustin Penner. I remember how that Getz-Perry-Penner line tore it up for a few weeks...then I kinda lost track of the Ducks for a few months...when I started watching them again late in the season Penner was MIA. edit: the guy's got everything you want in a power fwd - everything except ... commitment? desire? whatever it is he's missing it.
  7. Ya I edited my post after watching it again - a giveaway for sure but the kind that happens quite a lot in hockey games. It really shouldn't have burned us so bad if Leighton had been awake. edit: and of course...Because Lindros.
  8. ancient history but wtf, let's relive it again! Aw c'mon Podes you can't put that on Powe. He made the right play, banged the puck hard up the wall (edit: sorry you're right, it wasn't hard up the wall...more like a pass to Campbell) but Campbell made the stop at the blue line. Kimmo tried to stay with Kane but Kane is Kane, got off the 90-degree angle shot that beats Sleepy Leaky Braindead Leighton. As far as I'm concerned nobody is to blame for that goal but the goaltender. What I didn't like about Powe on that play is what he does after Campbell has the puck, gets it to Kane. He just kinda floats in the slot and does nothing.
  9. Thanks Ron I always liked Powe - lots of hustle, hits hard, wonder if we'll get to see him in the O&B. Razor you're not saying a team can poach him tho right? Too bad Mr. Princeton never learned any moves, how to score. He's a fastfast skater but he's so straight-ahead it's like he has no creativity whatsoever. But with Hall gone maybe he slots into the 4th line with Rinaldo and ? - that could be fun seeing the bruising they put on the opposition.
  10. yep me too - and as everybody pointed out it's probably now or never for Mr. DZ.
  11. Hextall made a good move grabbing DZ - the Flyers needed somebody experienced, and quick. I always liked DZ with the Rangers under Torts but I guess he just didn't work out under AV. Who knows what the actual rap on the guy was - maybe it's true he was getting a big head. But after last season and the FA snub I highly doubt "attitude" will be a problem (at least until he goes a few months racking up points again lol). But I'm glad the Flyers got him for a year, it works out perfect for both parties if he plays great - and I think he will.
  12. Could be OR - but I thought this was the year Couturier was going to get more offensive zone starts, maybe even center the 2nd line. It's probably a tough call for Berube...Couturier is so good defensively you hate to move him. Plus who else can take his place if he moves up to the 2nd line? This year he should get more offensive zone time. Hitch did something similar with Carter the first year or 2 made him concentrate on D. The difference of course is Couturier really shined right away - so much the Flyers decided to leave him in a checking role....But this year hopefully he gets a long look as a scoring center - that is what he was touted to be wasn't it? Offensively gifted?
  13. Sure, except Hartnell is the textbook case for "it isn't all about the numbers." All the stuff in addition to the points is what defines Hartnell's game - some good some bad. RJ is a safer bet and we don't lose many points but I think the top line got easier to play against w/out Hartnell - unless BSchenn turns up the intensity and keeps it turned up (and if he gets the job of course).
  14. Yes, and giving it his all (and then some) to make a play - to read the opposing offense better than most in the NHL (particularly shorthanded) - to deliver KO hits that sometimes maybe were borderline but had an effect on the game - to win big draws - to make other players around him better ... Maybe he was a mopey interview and he probably rubbed the older vets the wrong way sometimes - but I'm glad for all his success in LA.
  15. I don't know if it's just you but it's definitely not me - lol! Seriously I can't see anything close to 30 goals out of RJ no matter who he plays with. In any case I hope they didn't bring him to skate top-line minutes. It's been awhile - a few years at least - since RJ hit his career-high of 26 goals. But I don't want to trash the guy - I always liked RJ and I like your post for the most part - he can be effective on the PP if he earns the time (we'll see). Defensively he's good, etc. But I'm not expecting much more than 40pts out of him....and maybe I'll be happily surprised!
