  1. My mom taught me a neat word association game when I was a kid. Cavalry. V first = violence (soldiers). Calvary. L first= love (Jesus on the cross). Just a usefull tip for any impending interview questions.
  2. You know what? Screw the blue jackets....and their stupid fans. They could have squandered in obscurity and I would have been happy being ignorant of their existence. That's all I got......cause the blue jackets suck. HA!
  3. Nah, I think this is good for the Flyers. They would have gone into the Pitt series thinking guaranteed win. This puts them back on their heels. Flyers have the offense to beat the rags. And the d has improved by leaps. Goaltending is comparable. Play smart. Stay out of the box. Don't play Downie. That is all.
  4. he'd realize what a retard he is. Can a retard make that realization?
  5. Finding chemistry is a tough thing to do. If his asking price is reasonable sign him by all means.
  6. Deep breaths everyone. In.....out.....in....out. We're gonna get Bryz and Zherdev back any day now. Brian Savage and Ole Tollefsson have volunteered to come out of retirement. As have Petr Nedved and Turner Stevenson. We are gonna right this ship Dammit!
  7. That's a pretty decent line-up. The Phantoms haven't had much of a team in recent years. It's nice to see the farm being re-stocked. And don't they move to Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton next year?.
  8. The Bryz part of this story aside. What struck me was the part about Mogilny with a team on Russia's east coast. Mogilny had a debilitating fear of air travel. And that was on North American planes. I think I remember reading how he would travel by bus to other cities and how he considered quitting playing because he hated flying so much. Now he'll be traveling by plane more than any other team and doing it on a Russian aircraft? Yikes! He must have consulted a hypnotist or something. "It was a huge adjustment to come to the NHL. The language barrier was the toughest part. Lack of communication affected me both on and off the ice. It also took some time to get used to the airline travel. I had to deal with a fear of flying."

  10. You hear GM's and owners complain about travel all the time and how the cost and time has an adverse affect for their teams. Why doesn't someone (not me, I'm not a math guy) figure out the distances one team has to travel to visit all the other teams. Then go to the next team and do the same thing all the way down the list. Every team. That way every team has to spend time and money flying across the country. Equal it out so that travel is the same for all teams. And go back to the original names. Smythe, Adams, Norris and Patrick differentiate it from all other sports and that uniqueness makes it special. Smythe: Vancouver,Edmonton,Calgary, Ottawa, Montreal, NYI, NYR, Boston. Adams: Winnipeg, Minnesota, Detroit, Toronto, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New Jersey. Norris: San Jose, Colorado, St.Louis, Chicago, Columbus, Washington, Carolina. Patrick: Los Angeles, Anaheim, Phoenix, Dallas, Nashville, Tampa Bay, Florida.
  11. I moved out of Philly in '89, but that '87 club created a monster fan. They will forever be my benchmark. Here's a great Led Zeppelin/rap tune on youtube showcasing some of Hextall's saves and antics. .
  12. I was just on here yesterday saying that this is exactly what the Flyers need. A quiet, competent goalie comfortable with back-up / share responsibilities. I was so hoping for Emery but thought he was locked up by Chicago. YAHOO! Not a bad job by Flyers management. Shore up defense, add some potentially potent offense, and solve the goal tending woes. Oh yeah and sign our stud. All done without losing important components. Hats off to a job well done. I am impressed.
  13. @OccamsRazor Emery is exactly who I had in mind but Chicago is resigning him (so I heard).
  14. I'd like to see the Flyers pick up a quiet, competent goalie who's happy with the back-up role. Don't know who that is but I think that is what is needed. Remember we've got a Mason who's a little bit of a head case himself. We don't need some malcontent stirring the pot and getting Mason all frazzled as he starts to find his game.
