  1. I don't think the Rags will let Moore walk, but I don't know enough about their situation to say for sure. Strictly on paper, it seems like a tight fit money-wise. Also, since Hayes was a UFA, is he bound by entry-level contract rules(wouldn't think so). If not, that could further squeeze their cap dollars.
  2. Capgeek has them at $1.3 million, before his contract is applied. IIRC, they haven't qualified John Moore yet, so I wonder if he is gonna walk? Not sure they have room to fit both.
  3. Complements for our friends at orangeandblackpack.com Ahhh, another August day, another Flyers rumor. This one is brought to you by our hometown's beloved Eklund. Last night, the gossip chemist reported that the Orange & Black are in talks with Winnipeg under the table. Calm your hearts, peeps, this ain't about Kane. Allegedly, we're trying to clear enough space to acquire 24yo Jets defenseman, Zach Bogosian, who's entering the second year of his 7-year, $36M contract -- $5,142,857 AAV. Theoretically this could be accomplished if the Flyers (47 total contracts) deal multiple roster players, with bloated AAV's, to Winnipeg (45 total contracts) who currently have $7.9+ million in space. Keep in mind, the Flyers do not necessarily NEED to clear space. We're a hair shy of $5m over the upper limit, but assuming both Pronger & Timonen are placed on LTIR before the season opens, we'd have enough LTI Relief to absorb that overage... plus an additional $2,005,000. I dunno if this rumor has legs. I'm just now seeing it for myself. But Eklund did break the Del Zotto news bit prior to it becoming official, which is why I've shared this morsel this morning... ...that, and it's a slow news day. Take it all with a grain of salt, my friends.
  4. @Podein25 Life is good! Just got back from 10 days at the beach. Heading to Key West in September for a week. No complaints..well, I can't seem to win that lottery thing, but other than that.... How is life for you? All settled in following the move?
  5. Hey Sheep Molester--I agree with the faceoffs/speed angle--both of those factor into Hextall's vision of being a better puck possession team.
  6. I agree, Jammer. Let Laughton get some time in the AHL, even if it's "just" part of the season before a call up, or injury call up. Get used to the professional life-travel, training, etc. White's on a 1 year deal--which like MZD, could be a great bridge deal to get some youngsters on the big club the following year.
  7. Thought these were interesting comments by Meltzer: obviously, he's NOT exactly a penalty magnet. He averaged 9:41 of ice time per game, with 1:46 coming on the penalty kill. In 24 home games, the pivot won 55.43 percent of his faceoffs. On the road, he won 46.57 percent. The righthanded shooting White posted two goals, four assists and six points. White took 10 minor penalties in 2013-14 (two hookings, two roughings, two trippings, one delay of game for flipping the puck over the glass in the defensive zone, one holding, one high sticking and one interference). He had four fights and received one 10-minute misconduct.
  8. May be wrong, but I'm guessing they can't LTIR him until he sees a TEAM doctor. And it sounds like he won't be on a plane for several weeks-at a minimum.
  9. LOL..spent a lot of time in Oaks. I know several kids that play out of that rink for their AAA teams.
  10. My kids starting skating at 3. They are now 16 and 17, still skating/playing and are ALL about hockey. We did the free "Intro to Hockey" at first. Around here it ran 4 weeks on Saturday AM's. We did that for MONTHS. Once they really took to it, we started them in basic skating lessons. As the got a bit older..5,6,7,...we continued the lessons, but we actually booked with a figure skating coach for edge work. That was the best thing we ever did. As the continued to play, we did a lot of power skating lessons. It's NEVER too early, is what I tell everyone. Make it fun..if they get cold, leave. If they get frustrated...leave. Keep going back, and before you know it-they are asking you to go to the rink.
  11. Easy: On June 25, 1997, the NHL announced that Minnesota had been awarded an expansion franchise, to begin play in the 2000–01 season.
  12. Any interest in getting rid of the retired jersey banners? I have a Flyers themed man-cave---complete with Orange walls. They'd go nicely. I'd also consider the Clarke picture--depending on size. You can PM me if it's easier. Thanks, bud.
  13. I think they SHOULD suspend players with multiple infractions. Player A gets nailed 3, 4, 5 times for embellishing. It's a total of, say 25K, in fines. 2 of those embellishments lead to PP goals which cause his team to win a game. That's a bargain, in my book. Now, he gets suspended after the X time he gets penalized, that's negatively affecting the entire team. A MUCH bigger deterrent, IMO.
