  1. As long as the work ethic remains strong, gathering points is less important than gathering assets.
  2. Don’t know, but the old crew would never have taken the gamble in the first place. So glad they’re no longer in charge.
  3. Spoke earlier about the changing of the guard. New folks running the show. The drafting of MM and the trading of an entitled 19 yr old speaks to me. The team has no quit and is fun to watch. The future? Who knows but I’m good for now.
  4. Love this pick even if he no-shows. Holmgren, Clarke, Barber etc. would never have made this selection. They can roam the halls forever but their influence has come to an end. Hooray!
  5. Feb 1, 1959 (I was a senior in high school. and a Hershey Bears fan). Gordie Howe destroyed Rangers bad guy Lou Fontinato. Life magazine had aa 3 page spread the following week. The pictures from Lou’s hospital room showed a broke nose and a dislocated jaw. That’s the hockey I grew up with.
  6. If the flyers lose all 82 1-0, I’ll consider it a win. Last year was a defensive nightmare.
  7. No need to attend tonight’s draft. Back to the bar ‘till tomorrow
  8. I think they’re done. Fixed the defense. Going with the same bunch up front. They’ve called it a day. Phew!
  9. Hard and flat cap. Cap space now more valuable than picks. Don’t know who/what to blame for this mess. GM’s or COVID. Guess pandemic points out the fallacy of clubs counting on ever increasing cap to cover inflated contracts. Two picks to coax a team to take one of your players? What a great business model.
  10. Speaking of a 2nd pair defenseman, the Flyers were too easy to play against this past season. Which of the d free agents is the most physical? That's were I'd go.
  11. The flyers with value to a contender are too expensive.
  12. Claude, JVR and Jake have neither the talent or leadership qualities to lead the Flyers to a cup. That needs to be addressed. But it can't be fixed by the trade deadline. It's off season business.
  13. Been watching pro hockey for more than 70 years. Learned that teams have personalities. Some respond to adversity, some don't. As much as I would miss the season I was hoping for a cancellation. Had a gut feeling that covid-19 was a killer for the flyers. Missing a top pair defenseman, short training camp and a lack of strong leadership, they weren't a contender. Still, I would not use this season to evaluate who goes and who stays. Use the time to prepare for the off season and expansion. Write this season off.
  14. Time to sell. Not playoff worthy. Complete rebuild necessary. Do whatever needed to shed salary. Accumulate picks and start over. I'll still watch young talent develop under proper management. Hello spectacor, you there?
  15. Too soft. Lack of grit, especially on defense. Shows in the corners and along the boards. Boston has forwards who go to the tough places with skill. Those kind are hard to come by. Flyers have none (Farabee maybe). Unless you have speedy snipers like Tampa, you need to grind for 60 min. Like the Bruins alot.
