  1. Carts kind of reminds me of Rick McLeash in his seemingly effortless skating and quick snap/wrist shot. Pretty smooth.
  2. Not starting a "boy I wish we didn't trade them thread" that ship has sailed. Simply, I Still enjoy watching Carts and Ritchie play, always picture them in O & B... and Justin Williams was always a class act (still got a place in Jersey). Now if Maroon scores for the Ducks, we should have all the ex-flyers covered.
  3. Not much for chiming in on the board, but I have to say you guys are on point with this one about the writers...the Philly sports writers are always stirring the pot. If it is not Weber, it is something else. They all seem to sound the same, it's like they all just sit around and talk to one another...start up their own rumor, and then quote it as "reliable sources say..." Do any of them have any background in hockey or do they just parrot what they here from around the league or each other? I don't think anyone of the beat writers has played the game. They need to do more than just complain about who we don't have or who we traded away. Just sayin'.
  4. I have to say this...sorry, but how obvious is the excitement shown by Pierre and Doc for the Pens over the Caps tonight. Caps score shorthanded and all Pierre McGuire can say is how bad a play it was by Letang, Pens score on a 4 on 2 which dribbles through Neuvirth's pads after two deflections by the Caps defense and it is a loud resounding "SCORE" oh my word...What a goal !!!" Caps come back to score a goal later in the period, and Doc doesn't say that his patented "score" Just that, it was "a nice triangle passing play". He was barely excited for the goal. I don't really care, because I guess it would be better if the Pens win instead of the caps, but I just bugs me the love affair Doc and Pierre have with the Pens. Anyone else see this or am I just wasted on a Wednesday...which isn't all that bad.
  5. Spot on Howie, maybe we could see how the youngsters are doing in the AHL and Juniors, bring them along slowly and develop a team that way, since we are basically locked into this team for a while. Freddy
  6. It is possibly forgotton that the year the Blackhawks won the cup, they won their division by 10 points over Detroit, with 112 points. We had to beat the Rangers in the shoot out the last day of the regular season and had a mere 88 points (24 less than the Hawks) yet we still managed to make a miracle run to the cup final (beating Boston 4 strait after losing the first 3), and we had journeymen as Goalies. So...my point is...Charchidi is right about us going in different directions now, but my contention is that we were never really going in the right direction in 2010 anyway. So aside from a shoot out win (which we stink at anyway) and an historic 4 game run in Boston, our team seems to be playing the same way we did in 2010...not very well. The playoffs and a cool playoff run make everyone forget the regular season, but there are two seasons in the NHL...the regular one...which we stink at...and the playoffs...where we do a little better. Overall, we have not changed much over the past couple of years, just spent more money and traded a bunch of guys that are wearing rings. (Sharp, Eager, Carter, Richards, Carcillo, Gagne, Williams, Recci are the ones I can think of off the top of my head). Just saying...
  7. Any word from the diciplinarian about the hit to the head of Steve Downie last night by Alexei Yemelin? Since there was a major and a misconduct I thougt there would at least be a phonecall.
  8. That is where my thoughts were, if Hexy had any imput into the state of the Kings, then we would be in good hands I think.
  9. I would like to see Hexy get a shot at growing and managing this team. I was a Holmgren fan, but the more I look at his results, I am dissappointed. There are always things going on behind the scenes that we never get to see, and he may be awesome in some respect that I dont have access to, but the list of busted trades is expanding. There are numerous examples of the busts on this sight, so I won't list them, but I think it is time for a new voice in the GM ranks. Sorry Homer, but the only other job that allows you to stay on after so many mistakes is a TV Weatherman. I can't believe John Bolaris really writing a weather column for Philly.com. His forecast for the Eagles game was Waaaay off, but I'm sure he will be at it again this weekend, but I digress. Any thoughts?
  10. Thanks, I have comcast, and one would think a behemoth like that would have no trouble showing HD games. I'll call them about it.
  11. First of all, happy Thanksgiving from the Volunteer State, (living in Knoxville, born and raised in Philly). My question is about the NHL Center Ice. Are most of the games NOT in HD this season? I don't think any games have been in HD, and it is kind of ticking me off. Is this regional or are you guys seeing this as well? Thanks. By the way, on a side note, I have always been suprised at the lack of production the team has in warm climates. Someone should try and get a doctorate in statistics by showing and proving this weird phenomenon (if it does, in fact, exist).
  12. thanks for the info guys, and you are right...might be a rough baptism to the NHL at this point.
  13. Not real clear on the rule regarding the kid (Laughton) who seems to be playing well in Jrs. I know that if he played nine or ten games in the NHL we had to keep him up, but is he untouchable now that he is not with the bigger clubs? Just curious, since we might be able to use some sort of spark offensively.
