  1. I'm not on the ledge about a 4th or 5th rounder either....I'm just saying Briere is starting to do the same things the previous guys did with draft picks, while a few people are saying he isn't....while he's doing it. I know 4ths and 5ths rarely work out. But they don't work out ever if you throw them in on trades.
  2. I think a generational talent is one that comes along once in a generation and dominates it. It isn't 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 guys who put up points. Crosby, as much as I hate to admit it as a Flyers fan, pretty much dominated his era. Not only did he put up more points than Kane, he did it playing a tougher position, while also playing solid defensively (Kane sorely lacks there) In about the same amount of games Crosby scored over 100 goals more and 150 assists more, while playing a 200 foot game. Add 70 more playoff points on top of that. Theres your generational talent. And I don't think anyone can argue he's handed it to McDavid. You're never going to see the Flyers get a generational talent picking 14 through 32 (someone elses pick) all the time. Maybe we get a franchise player out of Michkov.
  3. I'm happy that we've got some extra picks, especially 1st rounders. We all know the more chances you have, the better chances of landing something special. We also all know picking near the very top gives you the best chance, especially in a good draft. That's why they need a rebuild and stop this middling bs.
  4. I honestly don't see anything wrong with Chicago stripping down their team after winning 3 cups, and doing a full rebuild. I'll bet they end up contending before the eternal borderline playoff Flyers ever do. I also am not sure I'd call Bedard, or Kane "generational", I think that term gets thrown around way too loosely. Kane, for example has put up the 4th most points since he joined the league, behind Crosby/Ovechkin/Malkin and just ahead of "generational" Kopitar/Stamkos/Pavelski/Giroux. But they're certainly franchise players.
  5. I think your statememnt tells us more about Johnsons effectiveness than mine did.
  6. Meanwhile, Erik Johnson is -5 in 4 games with the Flyers....saving our youth from the horrors of losing.....which, in fact they've all experienced in their hockey careers and yet, are still somehow playing.
  7. Well I won't argue you Couturier is a better choice over Laughton. That doesn't make Laughton not leader material. Also, they're supposed to be rebuilding. Laughton is going to be 30. Of course that brings the question why they don't trade Couturier, who's 31. He'd bring in a great package, other than Chuck Fletcher took his value away with yet another patented Flyer too long contract.
  8. I'd love to get either...at what price? Catton certainly isn't big, but he's good everywhere and has a heck of an IQ. Over 50 goal scorer, leading the league in shorties. 5'11" and 170 in his draft year isn't terrible. That's about that Frost was in his draft year...he's put on about 20 lbs.
  9. Laughton couldn't captain a Stanley Cup team, but he could certainly captain the Flyers until they actually have a contending team. He teaches the players to work hard, and even though you may not be elite, you can have a nice career. The guy can slot in at any forward position on any line. And I say all this as a guy who would have liked to move him, and hope they do while he still has value. I'll never understand your disdain for a guy who got stuck playing with some of the laziest, dumbest, douchiest players ever assembled on one team.
  10. I get what you're saying rad. But if I can see how done Johnson is how can that room think this is helping them in their hunt? If I played there, I'd say the same thing..."Erik Johnson? Seriously?" Your last comment is bang on.
  11. I'm hoping we drop a little further, and Catton falls into our lap. One can only dream.
  12. I agree that he isn't much help. I just don't think they had to spend a draft pick, lower or not, to get not much help.
