  1. Serious question: Is there any evidence to suggest that Clarke is nothing more than a figurehead?
  2. I can't believe more than 4 years have passed since he was hired. Then again, I have been watching the crapshow from afar and the timeline fits.
  3. In the wake of the Blackhawks report: I now understand why Craig Heisinger still holds his Assistant GM position. Cheveldayoff is used to ignoring sexual abuse cases. https://www.arcticicehockey.com/2021/6/29/22554770/the-winnipeg-jets-silence-volumes-chicago-blackhawks-graham-james-craig-heisinger-kevin-cheveldayoff Ownership has to fire Cheveldayoff and Heisinger to excorcise the stench from the organization. Winnipeg is the home of Graham James and has been pained by the sexual assaults since 1997. I don't think the fanbase is going to let this one go.
  4. It really is a unique set of circumstances. All I'm saying it is very plausible that Scheifele was just trying to make a defensive play and it went horribly wrong when he ran out of time and space. I don't even see how a horrible collision doesn't occur if he makes the stick save given their skating paths.
  5. His stick blade was still down with less than a second before impact. He was racing to stop the goal. I think he was in an impossible situation - stop the goal and make contact, or bail and be pilloried and no player would bail in that situation.
  6. I respectfully disagree. If charging is call (and it was), how can future players in a puck race defend against a player trying to score on a wraparound? Watch it in real speed and throw out the freeze frames and slo-mo's. If Scheifele is there 3/10's of a second earlier, he prevents the goal. He's travelling at about 30 km/hr in a straight line to stop the goal (either by playing the body or the puck) and realizes with less than half a second before impact that he's too late. The only thing he can do at this point is brace for impact. I don't blame Evans for trying to score and I don't blame Scheifele (who I do not like) for trying to stop him. The skating paths these two players had to take before impact were a recipe for disaster, but they were each trying to make a hockey play.
  7. I'm 52, so just old enough to remember. Have to watch HBO's Broad Street Bullies doc annually, just to relive the good times.
  8. Like I said, I like him, but he's got a Joe Thornton "hockey isn't everything" kind of philosophy which drives some people nuts. He's a rare talent, though. But, if I can be so bold to say right here and right now: Voracek is a better all-around player than Laine and we all know how popular Jake is with some people.
  9. I don't think the Flyer fanbase would like Laine. Even Winnipeg is getting frustrated with his inconsistency. I'm not sure where the TK angst is coming from because he looked really good to me in the last 2 games. TK will give you way more effort game in, game out than Laine and I happen to like Laine because he has a rare scoring touch when given a proper centre.
  10. It's no coincidence that a storm knocked out his satellite after he posted that.
  11. Still have it on CBC. You're not missing much.
  12. I was 20 and watching it with my brother the Habs fan. Good times.
  13. Grant's looked pretty darn good in the little bit I've been able to see.
