Need to Play a Road Game at Home
Tonight the Southeast division leading Florida Panthers are in town. They have been a surprise team this year led by new bench boss Kevin Dineen. Panthers had monster turnover in the offseason signing Goc, Jovanowski, Theodore, Fleischman, Kopecky, and Upshall to name a few. Trading for Campbell and trading Booth to Vancouver early in the season. Jose "Three or More" Theodore has been anything but his usual self this year. He is playing well and shutout a hot boston team 2-0 in TD Garden last night. Luckily for the Sabres Theodore is under the weather and Dineen said earlier in the week backup Scott Clemmensen would be in the cage tonight. Clemmensen has been no easy test himself since returning from injury, he is 3-0-0 with a .916 save% and a 2.33 GAA with 1 SO. With the stingy Panthers defense the Sabres will need all hands on deck tonight.
That last statement is the problem. Tonight the Sabres will be without a large group of regulars: Myers, Weber, Gaustad, Gerbe, Boyes, Kaleta and Leino (suspension). However Leopold and McCormick will be back in tonight resulting in big Joe Finely heading back to Rochester and Paul Szezchura joining the club for his 3rd visit of the year. The Sabres will need their top players to come through and chances of that happening outside of Vanek and Pommer are not good. So Buffalo tonight needs to come out and play a good road game in their own barn. Get out in front, not blow the lead, and play physical for 60 minutes. Ruff said Enroth will play in back to back situations, with Miller in net tonight and the Rangers in town tomorrow, Enroth will be in the blue paint tomorrow night.
Buffalo and Florida have split two games this year both teams winning on the road. Sabres had a lead at home late in the game but you guessed it gave up 2 goals with under 5 minutes left to lost 3-2 and not even get a point.
Leopold-Gragnani (Someone tell Grags we are wearing blue tonight)
Prediction- Win a few home games and I'll pick you to win...3-2 Florida another snoozer of a home game with a probable blown home lead.
