– The Los Angeles Kings and Buffalo Sabers are reportedly working on a deal that would send Jordan Nolan, Nick Shore and a 2015 first round pick to Buffalo for Tyler Myers. This sounds all well and good, but I just don’t see Nolan going to play for his father in Buffalo. Just seems a little made up, and fairy tale. Buffalo needs improvement, and must get full worth for Myers.
– There seems to be panic in San Jose. After a disappointing playoff collapse last season, they are off to a disappointing start again this year. According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie the Sharks are currently shopping Tyler Kennedy, and goalie Antti Niemi. Niemi may be a good fit in Colorado. There is also talk that general manager Doug Wilson has been talking to former Pittsburgh coach Dan Bylsma. Wilson is completely denying this. Regardless if this is true or not, current Sharks coach Tom McLellan is definitely on the hot seat. Time will tell what happens here.
– According to Ottawa Sun journalist Bruce Garrioch the Philadelphia Flyers would love to deal Vincent Lecavalier. This is not hard to believe, but it is a complete long shot to happen. Lecavalier has been struggling, and I cannot imagine another team taking on his 4.5 million dollar cap hit. He is 34 years old, and is under contract until 2017-2018. There is no way a team will take a shot on him. I honestly thought he would break history by being the only player to be bought out two times. Philadelphia just may be putting him on waivers and burying his contract in the minors.
– Times are still very difficult in Buffalo, and it has been made clear that each and every player is available. The catch with that comment is that Buffalo has also made it very clear that no player will be given away without proper compensation. The most talked about player to be moved is Drew Stafford. Another player of interest is Chris Stewart. He is a 26-year-old power forward that is set to be a UFA. Ottawa is rumored to be interested in his services.
