Flames Backlund Back With a Bang
The Calgary Flames are happy to have Mikael Backlund back from abdominal surgery. He returned Wednesday versus the Red Wings and bolted back onto the score sheet with a shorthanded goal, and assist. The 25-year-old Swede has been a perennial underachiever, but has shown strong promise late in the year last year, and in the few games he has played this season. If your looking for a long shot with high potential consider picking up Backlund. He is owned by just by just 11% of the teams and started by just 2% of teams on CBS Fantasy Hockey Leagues.

Every time he plays outside, he scores. He did it again this year. Now Eric Fehr has backed the New Years Day performance with a strong two goal, and one assist Wednesday night victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Predators Wilson Turning Some Heads
Left Wing Colin Wilson of the Nashville Predators has posted some great numbers lately. In 38 games this season he has 11 goals, 13 assists for 24 points. He also has an impressive +18 rating. This is somewhat surprising, based on the fact that last year he scored 11 goals, had 22 assists for 33 points in 81 games. The big left winger is a very dependable forward that also gets his fair share of shots on net. He has 89 shots this season, for a 2.34 shots per game. Check your waiver wire to see if he is available. He is owned by 58% of CBS Fantasy Hockey Leagues.
Perron Will Get Opportunity with Crosby
Last week David Perron was shipped out of lowly Edmonton for greener pastures in Pittsburgh. Perron will definitely see a point increase with his new surroundings. He has now joined Sidney Crosby on the Pens first line. This will likely continue to be his home if chemistry is built and points are produced. Perron posted 19 points in 38 games in Edmonton, but looks to see a sharp improvement playing next to the games best player in Crosby. Many fantasy owners snatched him up just minutes after the trade. If he is still available in your league he will be a solid pick-up. He is currently owned by 86% of CBS Fantasy Hockey Leagues.
