  2. Thanks. Ok so he would've earned $3mil in Russia next year. So Briere decides that means he's worth $3.25mil to the Flyers...not sure I follow the logic on that one but whatever. Ultimately it's not that big a deal. Briere was able to underpay Ersson so the Flyers now have cheap goaltending for the next 2 years. Good enough.
  3. Of course, that’s how the main stream media verifies sources. I will stoop to that level to justify my argument.
  4. Today
  5. But yall gave them Andrew Raycroft and he won all those...oh wait...nevermind nothing to see here!!!
  6. And they missed the playoffs that season, but haven't missed since and have a Cup Final appearance...
  7. There's the Kings push back I was expecting. -The Oilers were loose on coverage on several of those goals, though the Kempe goal where he batted the puck out of the air was just a great play on his part. -A couple of LA goals, including the Kopitar OT winner, looked a lot like set plays. Well done. -Nobody is perfect, and the defense will make mistakes, but Skinner didn't bail them out on any of their mistakes, while Talbot made a few saves on 5-alarm chances. -The Kings played their A-game, the Oilers played their C, and it still went to OT.
  8. 7.5 to 1 odds right now for Vegas to win it all, same as Edmonton. Leading favorite now is Carolina at 4.25 to 1, with FLA and NYR close behind.
  9. I guess I look at it this way. Let Yurov sign in the KHL next season. There isn't any room for him on the current roster thanks to giving guys like Freddy Gadreau and Marcus Johansson multi-year extensions. This team still has to prove it can get past the first round. I highly doubt the addition of one Russian center is going to be the catalyst that propels this team to the second round (or further) of the Playoffs. The core of the team is basically the same as the last two seasons. So which team is going to show up? Glass half-full says Spurgeon comes back and plays to his normal level of production, Faber doesn't have a sophomore slump, Kaprizov doesn't get off to his normal slow start, the team stays healthy, Boldy becomes more consistent, the goaltending improves, and Khusnutdinov, Ohgren and Wallstedt have meaningful production. Glass half-empty says Spurgeon isn't the same after his surgeries, Faber has a sophomore slump, Kaprizov gets off to a slow start, the team continues down the injury path, Boldy is still inconsistent, the goaltending isn't improved, and the rookies are ineffective. Plus there is all this nonsense being tossed around about trading Rossi. To what end? They finally develop a center who is probably going to come in top five in the Calder voting and they want to trade him the first chance they get.
  10. Burns, Karlson, Meier, all sent packing during his tenure. sh#t netminding, and lack of scoring depth. He sucks as a coach imo, but he worked with what he had.
  11. Yesterday
  12. Nah, he just ran out of money and couldn't afford to pay the players what they were worth. He's an a$$hole, but wasn't a bad owner.
  13. Doubt any other coach will want to take over this mess of a San Jose team...
  14. This is that stupid mentality that you have to 'earn' your spot and that veterans are ALWAYS given the preferential treatment. It's a ****** joke. Another reason that Puckhead needs to go. He knows nothing of player development.
  15. I remember when the North Stars played the Penguins in the Stanley Cup finals and Jaromir Jagr appeared to spear one of the North Stars players (I can't remember who) and no penalty was called and for the rest of the broadcast Al referred to him as "Jaromir Jagr, King of the Spear!"
  16. At this point, I would take almost anything to reduce/eliminate the profound Toronto-centric nature of hockey coverage across the Dominion (not that such a thing would be assured by this move)...
  17. I will always have this….
  18. We have seen worse hits in pee-wee hockey. I just hoping that Mcllrath and Rempe go at sone point.
  19. We are going to win damn it! Get ready!
  20. Canucks got PDO'd last night. High Danger Chances were 14-7 for Vancouver, but lose 4-1. Happens.
  21. Tom Wilson is a scumbag, plain and simple.
  22. I hope not. He's an overrated moron on and off the ice. It would be a fluke if he passed Gretzky since he's not even close to as great a player.

  24. The Athletic's article was reasonable, but it's nothing any of us haven't been saying here for well over a year now. And as Bill Guerin has locked into his bro's, giving them term and NMC's he's shutting out the young talent. He said during his press conference he wants them to push for a spot, but they've already guaranteed a spot to the 30+ year old guys. I've been saying it for a long time now (probably over two years) that this year is the point of no-return for Kaprizov. The No Trade clause kicks in and now they have to gamble they can convince him to re-sign or he walks for nothing; and is he all that excited to play with Mats Zuccarello now as he was earlier? Not so sure. He seemed to be pretty productive playing with Joel Eriksson Ek and Matt Boldy. Zuccarello looks like a lost puppy without Kaprizov, but good thing we locked him down to another 2 years with an NMC eh? I agree with you. I didn't think the team looked nearly hungry enough, Guerin sounded like he wasn't sure what needs to be done which isn't a good sign who certainly locked into his 'vision' just prior to the start of this season. They had plenty of opportunities to seize the playoffs this season, even with injuries etc but they choked away games late and then couldn't beat anyone decent to save their lives. And to be honest...doesn't that mean they got what they deserved? They didn't deserve to be on some post-season run. I can't see them beating any of the other teams in the playoffs right now. This team is committed to its path now. Those bad deals are done and they'll be here for a while. Will the team be able to show Kaprizov its going to be contender and get him some more help? At what point will ownership want off this Missouri Boat Ride that Bill Guerin's put this team on?
  25. PRESEASON OUTLOOK Cautiously optimistic. Korpisalo was brought in to bring a veteran in net, the Debrincat fiasco was over, the hope was that Stutzle and Tkachuk would carry a young hungry roster into playoff contention. Taresenko was brought in to replace Debrincat. FINAL RECORD 37-41-4 78 points, missed playoffs by 14 points. STRANGE STAT OF THE YEAR Young brilliant Tim Stutzle led the team among all forwards in power play time, yet he only managed 1 power play goal all year. He was 11th among all Senators, and 9th among all forwards in power play goals. Ugh. WHAT WENT RIGHT Tkachuk didnt live up to the solid brilliant numbers of the year before but still, he had a hell of a year. Stutzle scored quite nicely although many fans felt he was too inconsistent. Batherson managed 28 goals. Giroux had a solid season. Defesneman Chychrun and Sanderson were very solid. Joseph was a solid two way winger. Greig was a fun player, Pinto showed glimpses of a solid future. Jacob Bernard Docker and Artum Zub were very solid on the back end. WHAT WENT WRONG Look i am not gonna blame Stutzle but he took a massive step back and again, many Senator fans are screaming that he showed zero passion many nights. Hard to say a player scored 70 points had a bad year but every single stat from the year before went down in 2024. Chabot could not stay healthy and kind of lost his role to Sanderson on the first power play. Taresenko didnt do much and was dealt at the deadline. Korpisalo and forsberg both Bluejacket rejects were dreadful, positively rotten most nights. Josh Norris is a shadow of his former self and cannot stay in the lineup. Kubalik was possitely dreadful. HIGH POINT OF THE SEASON, Very early in the season, Ottawa won three in a row over Philly, Tampa and Washington to push their record to 3-1. They pummelled the goalies, scoring 16 goals in 3 games. Sadly, that was the high point of the season. LOW POINT OF THE SEASON They stumbled through October a game or so over .500 But beggining with a brutal loss to the Isles on November 24th they lost early and often. When they lost January 11th to the Sabres, they had lost 16 out of 22, with three months to go in the season essentially the year was done. FREE AGENTS Kubalik is a free agent and wont be brought back. Thats about it. Brannstrom, Parker Kelly and Pinto are RFA who all want paid. PROSPECTS a very ordinary bunch of forward and defense prospoects, most of the kids are already established in the NHL. They do have three good, B level goalie prospects in Sogaard, Mandolese and Merilainen and the hoipe is one or more of them will push Forsberg off the roster and steal the 1B role possibly this coming season. OFFSEASON QUESTION MARK This team has one of the biggest baddest toughest men in the game in tkachuk but as a whole wow were they soft. IMHO the number one question in who will sort this roster out and assign players to the proper roles. Lots of talent but they were soft and something was missing most of the year.
  26. I absolutely loved how the NYI became unhinged and the parade to the penalty box started. I'm glad Carolina tried to score on the power play after the empty netter because that was a completely bush-league move by Palmeri to be the second guy in on Guentzel after he took the whiny baby slash from Brock Nelson. NYI is losing in the most embarrassing ways possible and that warms my cold dark heart.
  27. Yeah I accidentally put this hear in the wrong thread there is another one to discuss this. I won't comment here on this and keep it on Drysdale.
  28. That's really promising for this team, and quid of Hayton who showed pretty good things one season ago before getting several injuries. Another right thing is head coach André Tourigny. I really things this is a good fit and that the team has the right person in the right chair. He held an interview each week on the french TVA Sports where he openly spole on hoy does he envision things, the strategies, his vision etc. And that was extremely interesting. Anyway, I had them as a wild-card team but the injuries and that awful 14-game losing streak killed their hopes. Ironically, they started to play better once they knew they wouldn't play there anymore... Another good thing is the change of ownership. If the organization finally has someone who cares and who wants to put money and a good team on the ice, that's all bonus. Maybe they will stop to be the NHL's salary dump just to ease other teams with their bad contracts. I can't believe that Bettman is keeping this dípshit owner in the loop for a potential reactivation of the franchise (yeah technically, it's neither a relocation nor an expansion. Salt Lake City is starting fresh like a new team but with former Coyotes' players, staff and assets while the Coyotes franchise is put on hold but with the branding and history staying in the boxes in Arizona. Sutpid but it helped the NHL keep the apparences...). Meruelo has five years to build something, I really hope he miserably fails.
