No, I'll stand by that. The Isles were bad, but their goal differential was "only" -17. Both are weak playoff teams, but you have to go back decades to find a team in the playoffs that gave up so much more than they got, and there's a linear relationship between goal differential and winning.

On paper, Colorado is better, but their goaltending isn't very good. Unless Georgiev plays better (or Annunen can step up somehow), and their defense plays better, I don't think they beat the Jets. Even with all their firepower. Jets in 6.

Canucks in 6. They have too much firepower for the Predators, though Saros can steal a game or two.

This is a very even series. I think Barkov and Tkachuk step it up and have a big Game 7, and Florida pulls the series out at home.

"Familiarity breeds contempt". That describes this matchup well. Third year in a row these teams have met. Great power play for the Oilers (4th best in the regular season) against a great PK unit for the Kings (2nd best in the regular season). I think McDavid and Draisaitl come through in the clutch, and win a hard fought series. I'm picking the Oilers in 7, although the Kings will try and hit them often and wear Edmonton down... and do their best to get under the skin of McDavid, Draisaitl and Co. It should be an excellent series.

I'm completely with you on the Edmonton experience. I can certainly emphasize that it had to be painful. I imagine the Flyers would emulate it. This is probably why Tucson takes the position it does (aside from sheer idiocy). The problem with not going the draft route (i know I'm preaching to the choir -- actually, I'm probably the choir repeating the liturgy back to the preacher) is you end up with a team like the flyers with a room full of complementary players that are paid so much that you can't afford to go out and pay a game changer. Maybe one, but only one. So you end up with, at best, a wild card team and delude yourself into "this was a good year. My sister looked really good on our date."

Of course if you rebuild, you have to have good management to do the rebuild. But if you don't have good management, rebuilding or not just gets you where we've been for decades....cupless.
