I agree. Even with his growing pains he is not going to hurt the team any more defensively than who he would be replaced by. The key is he has NHL speed and better than average offensive skill for a D-man. The rest is really decision making and positioning. I don't think the AHL can really prepare him any further along because that league can't replicate the skill and speed that he is going to have to take into account for making the right decisions with the puck and positioning without the puck.

The kid was alright. He moved the puck smartly. I had the Carolina feed--the announcers were impressed. He is a keeper. Howie

Jake with the GWer monkey removed from back!!!! Trade him now his value won't be higher!!!!

and here's my problem: they don't need to "get revenge" for a clean ****** hit. if a dman stands someone up cleanly at the blueline, and the resultant loose puck turns into an offensive chance for that dman's team...but it is all whistled dead because someone's penis to far too small to be ok with getting knocked down while playing hockey (read: lucic), that's just some pathetic ****. if the guy wants to pay it back in kind later on, great. take the number and keep it legal. the "OHNOHEDIDNT" crap is crap.

How sweet he is. Just what the Flyers needed, a fast defenseman who is offensively gifted and defensively responsible. Bring on the future.

17 games in..yeah, let's fire the coach. SMH. Firing the last 4 coaches made a big difference. News flash-this team isn't that good. They can play good periods/good games at times but they simply don't have the depth or the proper make-up to sustain long term success right now. But by all means-fire the coach. Again.

Montreal plays a complete team game for sure...they have since last season. Only then, they had issues with putting pucks in nets. Not so this season, hence their high ranking in the standings. And yes, they are doing this without Carey Price (again, because of their complete team game) because players on the team are executing to the letter, stars are being stars, and some players may be overachieving.....all this going on at once is a GOOD thing for this team. That all said, you can bet this team would NOT want to be without Price come the post season. It's one thing to execute/overachieve, etc in the regular season....quite another to do that game in, game out when you are matched up against better teams for 7 game sets.

Well, you came to the right place. We've got plenty of reality right now.

@WordsOfWisdom I like to add at least a bit of reality to my homerism.

I only saw the highlights but man the way Ghost received that cross ice pass ON HIS BACKHAND!!!! WOW! That was impressive as hell before he faked out the player in his face and then fired it on net! This kid has some skill for sure they need. Nice win. Only 5 points out of a wild card spot. Keep it going.

defensively reponsible? no. He stills looks suspect without the puck, but I still think he should be in the line-up here on out. Learn on the job.

Could Medvedev still be having concussion issues? No clue why Brayden is sitting instead of Vinny
  16. 1 point
Dude, it has to be.... how do you bench Schenn? And wtf is Manning in the lineup?
  17. 1 point
Brayden and Medvedev benched??? WTF???? ...is on???
  18. 1 point
Why the **** is Schenn sitting is the better question? Berubes 2.0 w lineups

The Sky is falling!!! To anyone panicking, take a pill... Trade Giroux, and there are ZERO reasons to watch hockey right now. And those pointing to his last year's stats as a yard stick, please remember at this time last year, he, like Jake, did not have a goal yet. I realize hockey is boring right now and this gives us something to discuss, but, to me, this topic is even poor mastabatory fodder.

Points per game is not a projection, it is what actually happened. And allows us to appropriately weigh things like shortened seasons. Going strictly by points scored better supports your argument by effectively turning an outstanding almost point-per-game short season into a poor sub-50 point effort. All of a sudden, a very strong partial season becomes a remarkably weak normal one, and you've succesfully co-opted reality. I understand why you would want to use totals, instead of per-game figures. Don't let what the numbers actually mean influence what your want them to say and all of that. It's totally fine.

@TropicalFruitGirl26 i'm not even going to touch this. maybe there is an argument that the flyers ought to move giroux, that their window is going to take too long to open, and his career will be wasted waiting for the team to get up to speed....but now is definitely not the time to move him. his trade value right now has to be half of what it was before the season started, the flyers would be selling as low as it can get. for me, this is an interesting thing to think about, but now is the exact wrong time to really do it.

I would put Peter Stasney in the same company of Bernie Federko....maybe a bit higher than Bernie...but in and around that range. Another guy to compare him to is Darryl Sittler.
