  1. It’s gotten so bad, even I’m going to post. I read this thread with a lot of interest and agree with the assessment that the team is clearly worse than it was when Fletcher took over. To the Wild fans that warned us, what can I say other than that he’s the old boy network running, imagination-less, plausible Buddhist solution proffering organization wrecker he was in MN. I cannot imagine him not being fired at the end of the season. He’s only still here because this mess is of such a magnitude that Comcast needs a good, long think to even figure out how to stop digging.

  2. Sorry for the delay all......like I said in the preview, I completely lost track of date and time. This lack of games is really throwing me off.

  3. Pastranuk 3-Flyers 2. That’s how teams win certain games and gain important points in the standings. A veteran player steps up and shows everyone how it’s done. The Flyers still don’t have a true gamer who can rise to the occasion and single-handedly win a game. Our guys usually disappear and go on 15 game scoreless streaks. Farabee might potentially become that kinda guy for the Flyers. I don’t think he is as skilled as Pastanuk but he is probably our most naturally skilled young guy at this point. Guys like Konecny, Sanheim and Provy have yet to step up and play consistent hockey, let alone

  4. So no practice.....huh....yeah way to get better team....might as well keep this tank going... Sitting at the 9th draft spot now...no way they can out tank Montreal or Arizona it seems they seem to be all in on Shane Harper....crossing fingers Flyers can get it on that about the only good thing to come of the season....sad to say.

  5. That 5 on 3 was a complete disgrace. No set up no set plays just running around hoping for a lucky bounce.

  6. Greetings: Boston is heavily favored (-250), with Tukka Rask scheduled to make his season debut. He will be facing Carter Hart. The computer simulation is a 3-1 Bruin victory. According to Jordan Hall, here is the lineup: Forwards Joel Farabee-Claude Giroux-Cam Atkinson James van Riemsdyk-Kevin Hayes-Travis Konecny Jackson Cates-Scott Laughton-Oskar Lindblom Max Willman-Morgan Frost-Zack MacEwen Connor Bunnaman-Gerry Mayhew (extras) Defensemen Ivan Provorov-Travis Sanheim Cam York-Justin Braun Keith Yandle-Nick Seeler

  7. Flyers upper management. They've been pissing in all our fruit loops for years.

  8. Next years draft whoever gets first pick could basically be getting the next super star that could set you up for the next 15 years. I think Bedard is going to be a special player. I've watched him play and he's impressive.

  9. This isn't the draft they need to tank for. It's next years draft they need to tank for. They'll get a fairly high pick this year but next years draft the top two are going to be really good. Bedard or Michkov. Don't think you can go wrong with either.

  10. Who cares about Shane Wright. The Flyers need a legitimate right side defender. Jiricec or Nimec should be their target. 2023 is when there are real good forwards available.

  11. sadly, so does his compete level. this has been a consistent pattern since at least the last 11-12 years. Hell, we did this in 2010 SCFs. Weather the storm in the first 10 minutes and then settle in to our game (except now the Flyers don't have "a game" to settle into). That's 3GMs and 6 coaches ago, unless I'm forgetting somebody. How is it that this is still happening night in and night out? At this point its become so commonplace and accepted that we only notice if they actually play a competitive first period.

  12. I have to say...yes and no on this. I saw what you describe too but I also saw a helluva competitive 2nd and 3rd (forget the 1st the Flyers were statues). But I was surprised to see the Flyers go toe-to-toe with the Bruins and not give an inch. They didn't fall apart the way they normally do. Forgive the old-school idea but I believe 100% it all changed after MacEwen whipped Lewington. Still...there's your final sentence and it's hard to ignore. There's *some* talent for sure but the drop-off is steep after a small handful of players. The 3rd and 4th-year players stagnating - snak

  14. What's funny about this game is that judging by the score, one might think this was a close game. This was Boston's second back-to-back game, while the Flyers were resting for days. Boston didn't even seem too motivated to play, and they still were better in many aspects of the game. The lack of talent on this Flyers' team is just staggering.

  15. I'm old enough to remember when they were "just" five points out of a playoff spot. Now that's 11 points and the Bruins still have two games in hand... The Flyers are now five points ahead of.... *checks notes*... Buffalo.

Newbie (rookie) here. | I'm still a vacant member at the HFBoards, so i haven't completely left that place. - man that is so toxic place these days, staff bullies members and vice versa, fans bully fans, and the advertisement bombardment and the ever changing rules... that place has grown too large | Hows things here? Hawks boards here still alive? I'm about 40, male, from Finland, you can call me AJ, into lots of sports, most actually , but hockey & football (aka soccer) the #1 & #2 After about 20 years, i got bac

  20. Duhaime was kept over Pitlick for size and grit. The team can only have so many small guys if they are going to make a run in the playoffs. The only unfortunate part is losing Pitlick for nothing. I am sure Guerin would have liked him to clear waivers, but has no control over the dumpster fire Canadians.

  24. York hasn't been there long enough to get the Flyer treatment. Farabee looked great least year. Before him it was Konecny, Provorov, Sanheim. York looks like he's going to be a stud. So did those other guys. Then...Flyers.

  25. Yup, when you're gifted this opportunity to tie a game and you do not much of anything, well, you're not going to win.

  26. will they win again? will Konecny ever score again? I don't know the answer to these questions. I do know we're about to be 6 games into another 10 game losing streak.

  27. I'm not absolving Ron of anything just trying to understand it with the ability of hindsight. I think this was just Ron trying to make his bosses happy while trying to also stick to his "plan" in doing so he swung and well we know now it was a big miss sure it sucks big time now but i think we can say he was trying to do two things at once and yes they should have blown it up like we said. But he didn't and they are paying big time for it now. He built up the farm system but just like any sport when you are trying to project men and where they will be when they become m

  28. To me, the Flyers' overall organization* philosophy* is to "make the playoffs and anything can happen". Hextall brought more of a "draft and develop" aspect to it (There was the anecdote about Hextall asking Homer how many Phantoms were Flyer draft picks and the answer was "basically none." That certainly changed.), but overall the general tenor of "make the playoffs and anything can happen" was still there. The early part of his tenure was trying to get out from under a lot of mess from Homer - Hartnell, VLC, Streit, MacDonald, etc. - and acquiring assets for the draft

  31. For all the talk about not drafting Makar, I doubt it would even matter. Long-term - maybe. But with the Flyers being so far off this season, one or even two players would hardly make a difference. You need to change the mindset and culture of this organization. That's a priority. That's where you start and everything else will follow.

  32. I will never understand the hate this guy got. He was a solid 2 way player who averaged 30 goals a season for the Flyers. He scored more goals in one season than any other Flyer over the last 15 years. He was taken 11th overall, not 1st. You'd probably have to go all the way to 2nd overall (Eric Staal) to get a better player taken before him. And you can probably count on one finger the amount of better players taken 11th overall (Iginla) Now if you want to knock him for his frosted tips, have at 'er!

  33. If an owner and management team had come in here 10 years ago with the sole purpose of making hockey irrelevant in Philadelphia, they couldn't have done a better job. There's no reason not to tear it down and start from scratch. I, for one, would enjoy watching a young team, even if they're bad, as long as I can see they're building toward something.

  34. Here is the article which is behind a pay wall. Pirating isn't my jam particularly, but i think there is good insight here: Any hope that the turn of the calendar year would lead to a dramatic change in the fortunes of the Philadelphia Flyers was snuffed out before even two full weeks had passed. The team’s seven-game standings point streak in December is now a distant memory. The Flyers haven’t notched a victory since Dec. 29. They’ve dropped five straight decisions. Claude Giroux, Ivan Provorov, Travis Sanheim and Travis Konecny all remain in COVID protocol and Sean Cou
