  1. Paraphrased: Everything is beautiful. I'm one of the fortunate ones in this universe.Look at all the people not as fortunate as me. I have no worries. I'm set for life. All is as it should be. Bryz, get real! This guy needs to be in the present. The universe may be as it should, but Bryz needs to focus on his karmic task, which, although mundane and insignificant to him, is to play hockey, to play goalie, to play goalie for the Flyers in 2011-2012, and do it to the best of his abilities.
  2. The last thirty something games have been the TEST! Bryz FAILED! BOB has earned the start. Besides, if they start Bryz, what does that say to the Flyers' players, Your playing time will be determined by what you produce, unless you are the 51 million dollar man. Bryz has lost the confidence of the players. If the Management keeps playing him, the Flyers will not make the playoffs!
  3. Jammer, WWhen we drafted him we thought that we wee lucky to get him in the third round. He has been slow to acclimate at the pro level, but he seems to come on recently. I remember him as being slow of foot with a good hockey sense, wiling to be physical and having a really hard shot. It appears that his skating has dramatically improved?
  4. I absolutely love Bob. He has all the tools to be a true superstar. He played well last year, but was not ready for a hundred game season. At the time Bryz was signed, it was not certain (and still isn't) if Bob could maintain his level of play over the entire season. The Flyers had to have a proven goalie who could go the distance, thus Bryz. It is very unfortunate they had to commit to Bryz for so much money and so long a contract. In any case, I agree with playing your best goalie, which appears to be Bob.
  5. The Flyers centers will be alright when two out of three centers who are out (Brier, Couts and Schenn) are healthy , but they really need a hammer on the point. Tonight, whenever Giroux was on the ice, whether PP or not, the Rags had two defenders on him, always leaving the point open! Unfortunately only Mez could take advantage of this. I don't like the idea of trading anyone on the Flyers at this time, but there is a critical need for a PP specialist.
  6. Absolutely unreal. What the hell is their training staff doing, or not doing?
  7. I think that we basically agree, especially on two issues: All things being equal, it should be the players decision as to whether they continue playing or not and second in improving our understanding of functional relationships both as it affects the individual players and the game as a whole. Not every hit results in life-changing consequences. Some do, and with more and more hits, the chances of permanent damage does increase. Until we have a better understanding, it is prudent to be cautious. This means looking at the game itself and how it is played, how we minimize the occurrence of concussions and looking at how we can minimizing the consequences of trauma and improve care for its' victims. The challenge is doing this and maintaining the integrity of the game we love. The two people I mentioned are not thumping for elimination of contact in sports. They are employed by the NFL and NHL respectively.
  8. A response to Aziz: I am happy for your brothers' success. However, there is a growing body of evidence that mlld concussions/TBI do have long-term consequences for its' victims. Look at the work of Jeffrey Barth, and or, Ruben Echamendia who have spent their lives investigating the consequences of these injuries. Admittedly we do not know everything about concussion, but what we do know, strongly suggests that we exert caution!
  9. I have really liked Bob. What is not to like? Before we send him packing, lets find out what we really have. I say that the Flyers go with the hot goalie, not the one that is paid the most. Last night Bob came in for Bryz. He played extremely well. Let him start the next game. If he continues to play well, play him. It will send the right message. The Flyers are about winning! After the preseason, they just gave Bryz the starting role and sent the wrong message. He was badly outplayed in the preseason! If Bryz raises his game to the level that he is being paid for, then, and only then, consider trading Bob.
  10. I read an article reporting that when he heard that the Flyers were interested in him, he told his agent that that is where he wanted to go. Maybe post facto hype, but it appears that the kid/guy just knows hi stiff and has real MoJo. Interesting comparison: How old was Poulin when he broke in?
  11. It is a shame, by all reports JVR worked his butt off this summer to get into shape. Didn't JVR start off really slowly last year and come on and didn't he confront Chara after Chara hit Giroux earlier in the season? In any case, as coach I would not have started with JVR. Vorachuk and Simmonds to mention two have looked at lot more inconsistent than JVR. Anyway, I just don't get Lavy's moves.
