    I think you nailed this.

I'd prefer "What a great deal" or "genius move " or "this bodes well for the rebuild".... instead, as usual as Flyer fans, we get  "longer than I'd have preferred"...."full no trade clause is for the first 2 years, and he's not a bargain anymore"..."7th guy soon".."In two years that's a tradeable contract"..."If he continues (I threw this part in...to play like he did for the contract that he now has, guaranteed) it might not be the worst thing".

It's really not a ringing endorsement.

Ya gotta admit... this sounds like a Chuck Fletcher/Paul Holmgren/Bob Clarke signing. Minnesota. Check. Too long a term. Check. Over 30. Check. NTC. Check.

When you're already gauging how tradeable the guy you just signed is, it's not good.

Anyone know how many other teams are paying $7.7 million for 2 -3rd pairing dmen?

Anyway, back to the rebuild. 😉

"I can't see nothing too much wrong with that" Up-Dutch compliment.

You're neglecting the fact that Hart and the other players were "cleared" by what apparently was a sham police investigation nearly intended to clear them.

I am repulsed by the supposed actions of these players. I still have to ask, not knowing  Canadian law, but doesn't double jeopardy apply here?

What's going to make this really ugly is that there's apparently video of the sex and there's all the text messages between a player (I think it's Formenton) and the woman and the woman admits she had a good time and was sober. Regardless of whether they guilty or innocent, I think it's safe to say that their NHL careers are probably over.

And just like that the Flyers loose their franchise goalie. Poof, Gone!

Sure they should but my gut tells me they end up with something like the 10th or 11th pick i just know it.

Still suck but just not enough.

I thought about this and began to realize If the Flyers end up drafting tenth, which I suspect is possible, the  players have to play  well. That means that the team and individual players are playing well enough to entice other teams to look favorably them at the  trading deadline.

  5. I've been following this thread from its inception. It is surprising there are so many on here chasing the next shiny new potential star. If we have learned anything it is that to consistently win the team needs  steady goaltending. The Flyers have gone years without success. So yeah, lets trade Hart our 7th pick and any combination/s of  all our best players to move up 2 to 4 spots in the draft. Hart may be traded, but the only reason Hart should be traded is if he has developed a really poor attitude and does not want to be here!

  6. I was worried that he returned after his first stroke. Now that he has had a second stroke I hope he enjoys his retirement. He has had a wonderful career. This  also brings up questions regarding the Penguins medical staff. Typically it is not a good idea to allow anyone to return to a job, after a stroke, where they will get their head knocked around!

    Greetings:

We are underdogs (+180).  The Islanders are 7-3 after a slow start.  Sorokin and Varlamov have been tough to score against.  Barzal is another Crosby against us.  Will it be Hart or Sandstrom in goal?  Do you give Hart another start to prove himself after a pull, or do you reward Sandstrom for a good effort?

Torts' post-game presser after the Pitt loss was surprisingly calm, but there was quiet resignation.  He did not comment on effort and made it clear Hart was not the problem.  My take is that of frustration.  He may not be able to extract much from this squad.

Howie, I hit that point last year. I have been a fan since their second year,  but now I follow them if I have nothing else to do. So sad to see this storied franchise self destruct.

  8. I haven't posted in awhile. I guess that I was too frustrated with the Flyers to have any investment in them. The management of the teams is crazy. The Flyers dealt Shayne Gostisbehere who had a 4.5 million dollar contract

to the Coyotes, along with a 2022 second-round pick and the 2022 seventh-round pick for the 2022 season, then turn around at the end  the season and acquire Tony Angelo for  second, third and fourth round picks and pay him five million dollars a year. The players are similar except that Ghost had a good reputation. So in effect they paid two second, a third, fourth and seventh round picks for a player with similar profiles and an additional half a million dollars a year.  Who is guarding the hen house?
