What is it with Cooper? The guy leaves the net open why? To pad Detroit's stats? I should have known its a lost cause. The game is lost. A game they should have won but not seeing it I have no clue what happened? I know if they play like this vs my Sabres, they will get hammered. The Sabres are better than the Red Wings. We get to play them again next week I believe.

Not sure about the pulling goalie early thing.
It's driving me crazy, and if he keeps doing it with nothing to show for it, could lead to questions about how "comfortable" he is as TB's head coach.
Not suggesting Cooper should be fired, but he needs to reinvent himself a bit to account for the big changes on the team.
They are no longer the dominant team that can beat teams while sleepwalking.
They are still good, but need to work harder to acheive the same results, and be smarter about how they play and manage themselves on the ice.
Right now, that isn't happening as well as it could, and Cooper is taking shots in the dark that aren't paying off.

I like the avatar!
I am a big Charles Schulz/Peanuts fan.
Almost feel like breaking out my Lucy the Psychiatrist or Snoopy the Hockey Player avatar that I use from time to time!

I KNEW Victoria, BC sounded familiar! It's our last stop on our current vacation, JR....Minneapolis, to Seattle, to Juneau, to Skagway to Tracy Arms Fjords, to Victoria, and as I type this, getting ready to depart Victoria to Seattle again, to catch a plane to Minny.
Was all over downtown Victoria today.
Visited your Bay Center, toured the wharf, and made friends with a few locals....and some weren't even trying to sell us anything.... .
Even walked around some of the residential areas (who knows...maybe I was outside your house... ) just to see the typical areas where locals live.
Anyways, thought I'd give you a shout.....should have sent you one sooner...you could have met me at the pier .... Explorer of the Seas is the name of our ship....Royal Caribbean is the outfit.
Hope things are well with you and your family.
Sandy

We liked our visit there.
Our entire trip went well.
Traveling with young children IS difficult (especially my special needs one), but overall, we enjoyed Alaska and north western Canada very much.
Cab drivers in Victoria were giddy because we were tipping in 10 US dollar increments...which I was told by a local is very generous due to the exchange rate...oh well, the drivers were friendly, informative and got us to where we wanted to go, so it was all good.
Some really breathtaking views and 'wow' moments for me during this trip.
Being a native of Florida in the US, seeing that many mountains right in your face was quite the new experience for me.
Oh, and while stopped in Skagway, Alaska (during a salmon bake of course), we had a live, unscheduled appearance by a local brown bear who decided the salmon was too tempting, ran into our camp area, snatched some, and took off.....a local said it was an adolescent bear and was just interested in the fish, and if we let it alone, it would just take its prize and go away.
I've had black cats cross my path and an assortment of other creatures suddenly surprise me, but NEVER a real live bear....I literally dropped my lemonade, grabbed my youngest and hid behind a tree...lol.
Frazier, Canada (yes, in the middle of nowhere) was another rural stop for us (all via the White Pass railroad), and customs really didn't seem to care we were there....wasn't until Victoria where they wanted to make sure we weren't in the "import / export" business...hehe.
Anyways, sorry for the long winded response (like you don't already expect that from me ), but wanted to let you know we enjoyed everything about both AK and NW Can and Victoria was a very nice final spot before going back to Seattle then home.
My body is still on AK and Pacific time zones though......

Happy birthday a little late!
-
Awww thanks.
Maybe a bit late, but you are the only one so far! LOL!
To be honest, these days I don't really like advertising it (not that I hide it either).
Why? I turned...ugh..... Thirty flippin Three yesterday!
Feels like not so long ago, I was in my early twenties, in college, dating, and doing stuff I probably shouldn't be....lmao
Now I am over 30, married, have kids and am....gulp...responsible...who knew??
Anyways. Thanks!

I was curious on where the proceeds of the all-star game goes for each sport, by chance would you know?

Did you see the Dodgers defeated the Royals 5-4 in 10 innings with 4 straight walks! Simply unbelievable!
-
I didn't see that one, but the Dodgers are working some magic this season. I DID see the end of the game against he Diamondbacks where they trailed 4-1 going into the 9th and won it 5-4. That game capped off a 3-game sweep of Arizona too.
Looks like after a slow start, the Dodgers are for real after all this season. They showed a stat that said Los Angeles has 22 comeback wins this season already.

I accidentally flagged ScottM in a Vegas thread from December and I like to have the flag disregarded! Please tell ScottM that I apologize for the inconvenience! I can't find the thread to do that myself? I also asked hf to do that! I'm only asking in case he can't get to it
-
I looked around the moderator queues and I see nothing flagged on ScottM. HF either found it and took care of it, or another mod saw it, saw no infaction and just removed any flags. All is good. But if for some reason Scott says he got flagged (he hasn't been around lately, much less reported anything), then one of us will explain the mistake. Scott is easy going, he understands mistakes happen. No need to worry on your part, everything will be fine.

It's time for Hurdle, the Pirates coach, to blow a casket or two! How do you miss to the Giants 13-5?
At least the Dodgers beat up on the Padres. Their lead is now 3.5 games lead over the D'Backs, who lost to the Rockies!
-
I'm not so sure the coach in Pittsburgh blowing ANY amount of gaskets is gonna help. The Pirates simply don't have the depth at any position to contend the way I thought they would. Sure, they have good players at the starting positions...but beyond that, not much else it seems. Add to that underperforming players like Andrew McCutchen (who should be near the league leaders in like, everything) and you can see Pittsburgh has a problem this year.
As for LA, well, they are the Dodgers. The Yankees of the West. As dirty as THAT sounds.
They were expected to contend and they started off slow, but now are doing what they were supposed to.
Cept they still have some competition from Arizona and Colorado.
Looks like the Rockies maybe have fixed their issues...for now.
Giants are just downright awful this year.....just....plain....bad..
Hard to believe this is the same team that won two World Series not too long ago...
-
-
It also sounded as if the Rays weren't getting the timely hitting against the Pirates! For what the little that I heard Nova (I think) didn't have good control! For some off the wall reason the Rays could not hit him!
-
Rays are squarely a .500 team. Nothing more, nothing less.
They look like contenders for a stretch, then look like bottom feeders the next.
Outside of Evan Longoria, Chris Archer and maybe Alex Cobb, the team has a serious consistency problem.
This is pretty much what you will see from this team all year. They finish a game or two below, at .500, or a game or two above. Nothing special from my guys this year, sadly.

What is up with the Rockies? Losers of 8 straight! To be honest I like see that.

Wasn't there a Peck that played for the Islanders (guessing in the 90's? )I'm sorry, my memory is foggy!

Don't know about "Peck", but there was a Michael PECA.
He was a gritty, two way type forward who was on the Islanders in the early-mid 2000's.
In fact, I remember the year the Bolts won the Cup in 2004, Peca was captain of the Islanders that year....Lightning beat them 4 games to 1 on the way to Lord Stanley's prize.

I have made a double topic in the Pittsburgh Penguins board called Nick Schultz could one be deleted? Thanks!

In a shootout, the player scoring the game deciding goal get credit for a goal scored?
-
Nope. ALL shoot out statistics are tracked, of course, but are kept as just that...shoot out statistics. So any goals players get, whether game deciders or otherwise, are simply calculated into their SO% success rate (for instance, 10 for 15 in a shoot out just means that player is a 66.7% shooter in the SO). It does NOT add to any of their regular season goal totals.....in the same way that NONE of the shoot out goals allowed affect season goalie statistics such as save % or GAA....again, goalies shoot out goals allowed and % are calculated separately so people can see how effective they were in allowing or not allowing SO goals. Hope that helps.
