  1. You couldn't have asked for a better piece of the puzzle...this guy has got to be one of the reasons the Rookies and younger guys (Including G & Vorachek) have been so focused, mature whatever you want to call it. I am not going to predict anything, but this team has a great blend. I look forward to seeing this team grow and develop as the years go on...a cup this year would be awesome, but this could be just the tip of the iceberg. I had heard Jags was leading by example, so hearing this cements that he was the best off season signing, although Talbot isn't too bad either. (holy cow, just notice that the two guys I am praising are both ex-pens...we got the good ones).
  2. Thanks for validating my thoughts, Panacchio and Charchidi are quite weak.
  3. I know it is probably just me, and the fact that I really think Panacchio has some other weird negative agenda, but tonight in the locker room interviews he asked both G and Lavy..."What do you think it was that allowed you to beat the Penguins five times and not tonight?" Seriously...did he really expect an answer from our coach or our key players about why/how we can beat the pens? He got the proper answer from Lavy..."Well, I'm not going to tell you". Anyway, am I the only one who seems to get a burr under my saddle each time I hear him ask a leading question or a 'stirring the pot' type of question? I don't know, I just think he is a really conniving and annoying.
  4. Back contusion for DB out indefinitely , Nic is 7 - 10 days...Ughh What is a contusion? Wiki says...it is another name for a bruise. What is a bruise ? A bruise, or contusion, is caused when blood vessels are damaged or broken as the result of a blow to the skin (be it bumping against something or hitting yourself with a hammer). The raised area of a bump or bruise results from blood leaking from these injured blood vessels into the tissues as well as from the body's response to the injury. A purplish, flat bruise that occurs when blood leaks out into the top layers of skin is referred to as an ecchymosis. So a back bruise gives you an indefinitely out notice. Indefinitely out could mean 5 days or 10 weeks...so I suppose we will have to see what is up with Danny. Did this happen from the hit at the end of the game, no, I think it was a crosscheck to the back earlier...you know...the one that didn't get called or start a brawl....
  5. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=625442 Not bad, Not bad at all... Way to go Bryz, I am hopeful he can regain that poise and control for the playoff run. See what happens when you stop giving Panacchio material and just play, great job Bryz and the whole Flyers defensive posture for the month as well.
  6. The non-calls are really what get me, Crosby slashes Giroux after the face off...then breaks his stick on Voracek's thigh...the jab & spear of Schenn that precipitated the crosscheck shove...and I think there was another slash on Jagr as well...Then there is Malkin...the mugging of G in the corner (two mashes to the head), the shot to Couturiers mug (more than once), and the pitchfork the the groin on Bourdon. And that is all I can remember at this point. I think Lavy was PO'ed most of the afternoon, and the final straw was the hit in Briere. When the seemingly pro Pittsburgh announcers start pointing out the cheap shots and missed calls you know they have to be pretty obvious. Also, NHL Tonight showed a little more of the Crosby Crosscheck, meaning they showed the jabs Sid the Kid performed on Schenn...before Brayden took his shot. NBC must not have a good "hockey" director in the truck, a director with some hockey sense would show both sides of the story, not just the end result...oh wait, I forgot, NBC stinks.
  7. I think this was mentioned before, but Briere likes to keep the same line-mates for a while. This season he has been the odd man out almost every game. Let's put so & so with him tonight, then so & so is hurt, so let's put so & so with Danny. Maybe it is just one of those years when he can't get used to anyone...and is struggling to find his rhythm. I like the idea of Voracheck with Danny since he plays and passes a bit like Leino (but with speed), JVR might work well with Danny, but I think the Schenn, Simmons and JVR line showed signs of brilliance the short time they were together. Anyway, my point...Danny needs to get comfortable with folks, but this year he hasn't had that luxury. Playoff time, if we don't get saddled with more injuries, he should start to get a more consistent line. Just sayin'
  8. The point of this post is to ferret out if others feel the same way as I do about Panacchio, and to try to bring to light his anti Bryz focus. It appears that there are a few that agree with me about the CSN writer "trolling" for problems in the locker room.
  9. What is the deal with Panacchio? Bryz agreed with a very leading question about the team possibly having a "let down". His answer was rather benign, with a "maybe" then explained that the team had an emotional weekend but gave the Cats some credit for playing hard. My Point: It seems like Panacchio was trying to start something up again with Bryz vs the Team. It was another attempt to put Bryz in a light that is not team oriented. His article states that Bryz was one of a few flyers that thought the flyers had a bit of a let down... so why not quote them? Maybe it was Timmo, who is also quite honest, Maybe it was Hartsy...who speaks from the heart as well. He picked Bryz, and put the focus of the article by the title squarely on our two week in a row 1st star of the NHL. If I were Holmgren, I would do whatever is possible to restrict Panacchio and Charchidi (as well) from interviewing our Goalie...who has been lights out since they haven't been able to tear him apart in the Media. Does Panacchio really dig putting Bryz down? I know he is the beat writer, and not payed by the Flyers, but isn't CSN Comcast Sports Network, and isn't Snyder Chairman of the Board? Maybe he could assign Panacchio a beat with the Trenton Titans?
  10. I agree with terp, how do we know what the "eye roll" was for, the announcers may be right, but they may be wrong, either way we will never know until the interview clears it up (you know the Philly press will be all over this). I can tell you that I personally did a little more than roll my eyes, I dropped a few f-bombs Bryz's way and took another sip of my beverage. I know Mez is a pro and shouldn't do that sort of thing at another teammate, but he is a human. Another quote from the Hockey Night in Canada Guys...the flyers outscored their goal tending tonight.
  11. This guy never quits, "Lowly" Jets have the Flyers number. While that may be the case, and we have performed poorly against them in recent years, to tag them as the "Lowly" Jets really gets under my skin. Nothing but bulletin board material....and by the way, the Jets are tied with Toronto for the eighth seed and are super motivated to win, this can't be helpful. For some reason Charchidi likes to refer to teams as "Lowly" when they are behind us in the standings, just not cool in my opinion. But he is only a writer and not a player or coach, so it probably doesn't mean much to the other team, but it just seems that everytime he talks about a team being the "Lowly" team...they come out and kick our butts. Sorry for venting, not a big fan of the Philly Media anyway. Thanks for your time.
  12. Panaccio is quite the knucklehead. First of all...does he even like the Flyers, since all he seems to do is create trouble as he tries to wrangle viewers at the expense of our team chemistry? In addition to this last Bryz comment, last week before the Rangers game he asked Lavy what they were going to do differently to beat them...what a stupid question and Lavy put him in his place then as well, I think the response from Lavy was "are you serious?" The whole article by Becker is a joke. Why do reporters feel it is important to make themselves the story? We don't really care about the "team at CSN.com" or what a "character 'Pinoch' is...he is a reporter for the hometown Flyers, and should be trying to report on the state of the team and the insights into the game with a real sense of Hockey...insted he seems to try and stir up the pot with his undocumented sources and speculation. He writes his conjured up theories as if they were fact. In the old days, a reporter had to confirm his information with three separate sources, Panaccio seems to make stuff up, ask a couple of folks what they think, then quotes them a a source. He is a discrace to the profession, and should be banned from the beat. I think Clarke called him an ***hole during the whole Lindros controversy, but I am not sure. Also, Charchidi is not any better...and I wish he would quit describing teams that are not playing well as the "lowly" team...not bad material for the bulletin board.
  13. I am hopeful, and I totally agree with you (doom88) about JVR & Danny, both are valuable cogs in our machine, and I am in no way, shape or form saying that the season is over...I am just pointing out that if we continue down this path of inconsistent play, taking a period or two off, our Goalie situation, the fact we have so many rookies on the team...plus our "recent" history at the end of the season for the past couple of years, we could be in trouble. I guess I am more of a glass have empty kind of fan.
  14. The flyers have been really inconsistent this year, but one area where they are consistent is the last part of the season...they stink. Last year, 3 - 8 to limp into the playoffs, where Ritchie and company said that we will turn it on...and didn't. The year before, 4 - 8 to slide into the playoffs with the rare shoot out win against the Rangers. Nice run, but probably gave us some false hope. This team has way too many rookies to make any kind of run. Rooks hit the wall toward the end of the season, due to a number of reasons, one being they never play more than 40 or 50 games in a season. Good Defense will stifle our top lines, which they have already started to do, and we will be on the outside looking in this year. I hope I am wrong, and that our experienced guys will prevail, but it doesn't bode well for us to be this fragmented...with inconsistent play and bad goaltending. Bummer.
  15. It is tough to watch this team the last minute of a period, it seems like they are always running around like a chicken with thier heads cut off...this is the 16th time they have been scored on with less than a minute to go in the period, (not counting en) I find that to be a huge number.
