  1. @doom88: Thanks, I'll definitely check it out. @OccamsRazor: Living in Alabama I at least used to be able to travel to Atlanta to watch the Flyers whenever they played the Thrashers. I went every time the Flyers played there. It was a great venue and the Flyers fans ALWAYS outnumbered the Thrashers fans. The lack of fans moved the Thrashers to Winnipeg where they became the Jets. So, no more games for me to attend nearby. And, yes, this site rocks! I was a member of the Philly.com site and the Flyers forum was trashed. Quality posts here for sure and I used the in-game chat the other day and it was a blast. Hope you have a great week!
  2. @fan4ever: Ha! Well I had no idea we $hot our wad! Thanks for the reply. @Flyercanuk: You make an excellent point. And as a fan I have to be equally patient. Thanks for the reply. @aziz: Thank-you so much--you answered my immediate questions. And I will definitely take a look at the website you suggested. This forum is great. I don't get to talk hockey at the "water-cooler" at work. Nobody here in Alabama is a hockey fan--at least no one where I work. Alabama is all about football--especially college. Thank-you for the offer on more questions. I'm sure I will have more after I go to the website. Right now, I'm watching the Flyers getting their butts kicked by the Rangers. I HATE THE RANGERS like most on here hate the Penguins.
  3. I know I can "google" this to find out the information; but, I'd rather have a conversation with some Hockey fans--especially Flyers fans. I love NHL hockey and the Flyers. I love watching the game and I know all the rules. However, I'll admit, when it comes to acquisitions in the NHL, I'm clueless. Can someone give me a quick synopsis on how the free-agency, drafts, and trade deadlines etc. work in the NHL? The main reason I am asking is because it is obvious the Flyers weakness in on defense and I am wondering what the possibilities are to correct this with acquisitions at this point in the season and the remaining part of the season.
  4. What I liked about the game was the Flyers keeping the pressure on in their zone. A lot of quality chances and great puck handling to keep it in. Some sloppy neutral zone defense gave up some odd-man rushes. And in our zone, Flyers looked pretty bad. That first goal was a fluke; but, most of the other goals were a result of weak defense in our zone. Mason was not the problem yesterday IMHO. All I know, is this team is fun to watch now. If we could ONLY get a "D" this team could make a serious run down the stretch.
  5. The Flyers executed the "dump" part perfectly--it was the "chase" that they forgot!! Most embarrassing performance I've ever seen by the Flyers in a playoff game. So horrendously passive!! That was very painful to watch. It was amazing the final score wasn't 10-0. Just shows the Devils could be beat, if the Flyers would actually show up. Well, it's not over--but, I feel the end is near. I will still watch every minute of every game until the Flyers are done. Do you remember 2002?! Wouldn't it be sweet to reverse that in 2012? (I can dream can't I?).
  6. Claude Giroux is a complete player. I'm more of a whole team fan and I rarely get excited over a single player; but, this is one of those rare occassions--Claude Giroux is one of the best players ever in the history of the team. I really believe he's that good! Go Flyers--Go Giroux!
  7. EXACTLY! I'm on the same page... I have nothing to add--you took the words right out of my keyboard.
  8. I think the Flyers will always be one of the most penalized teams. It all started with the "Broadstreet Bullies"--The Flyers are to the NHL as the Raiders are to the NFL. I see it more as a reputation thing, than a conspiracy. Refs have the feeling going in that, "Flyers game--well, there will be lots of infractions tonight." Refs tend to see MORE or STUFF THAT'S NOT THERE when they believe the Flyers are "bad-boys" before opening face-off. @brelic--totally agree that the comment, "Boudreau's system definitely pressures more. One thing I didn't like about RC's system" was a total ROTFLMFAO post. Wow, the guy hasn't even learned where the bathroom is yet, let alone put a "system" in place! Wow!
  9. I watched the first two periods live and then DVRed the rest and watched it this morning. Flyers looked absolutely flat and sluggish in the 1st Period... and the goals scored by the Ducks?!--wow, can you say SOFT?! After 5 min into the second period the Flyers dominated and had the Ducks on their heels. So, I went to bed thinking the Flyers just might come back and pull this one out. Wow! What a great way to enjoy breakfast--nice comeback win for the Flyer! Totally enjoyed that 3rd Period. Flyers showed a lot of patience on the 2-man advantage. And the OT--well, Flyers got a break on the 4min. penalty; but, that was sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Jagr surprised me--I thought he came back too quick with the groin pull; but, he played a great game and his stick handling after all these years is still amazing to watch. He now has 8 goals? He had no less than 20 goals in 17 straight seasons. He's quite a player. I loved Hartnell all game--he was aggressive as always; but, it was more controlled and dileberate. He positioned himself near the crease all game and held his own. Simmonds still kills me to watch. I like his aggressive play in the neutral zone; but, he just can't keep that puck on his stick--LOL! I have nothing of real value too offer here--I'm sort of rambling--I'm just excited after watching that comeback and domination by the Flyers in the 2nd and 3rd Periods. Ducks did have a couple of surges and a great 2 on 1 chance in the 3rd; but, Flyers stayed tough. And finally, penalties when our way? Really? Ha! And was there several "Let's Go Flyers" chants in that game? ....Or was I hearing things?
  10. A Journey through the Mind of Dan Carcillo, author unknown...
  11. Hey all--I did say "FUTURE"--like you I do not want to rush things. I'm just saying he certainly is the kind of player that leads by example. @Vanflyer--I did not know that he was wearing the "A" in the absence of Pronger--thanks for the update. Hope you all had a great Thankgiving! PP
  12. Do you see an "A" or a "C" being embroidered on his jersey in the future?
  13. We welcome this new forum--a welcome addition for all hockey fans where Flyers fans are particularly welcome and trolls are unwelcome--it's a welcome breath of fresh air.
  14. The Rangers defense is definitely impressive. They play it especially well with the lead. Not my favorite hockey to watch; but, impressive nonetheless. Like many of you on here hate the Pens, I have always hated the Rangers; so, that game was tough to watch. I'm looking forward to a rematch when the Flyers are healthy.
  15. Nice! Thanks for the link--Claude's is definitely the winner!
  16. I was always a Flyers fan and will always be a Flyers fan; but, for some strange reason, I never hated the Pens. I hated losing to them, YES! But, watching the likes of Mario and Jagr was just great for hockey. .... and to this day I think Mario > Gretzky... Okay, I know that's hard to take; but, I'm being honest. Now, that being said, I TRULY UNDERSTAND how you all feel. I'm the EXACT same way with the NFL. I have two favorite teams. The Philadelphia Eagles and whoever is playing the Cowboys. I hate the Cowboys and truly celebrated the end of Michael Irving's career occurring in Philly. Pretty sad statement that I celebrated the end of a guys career. But, that's how much I hate the Cow-turds. So, I do know EXACTLY how you all feel about the Pens. Even I look at Jagr and see him in a Pens jersey. And, Jagr once said, "The only way I'll ever come back to the NHL, is if I play for the Pens." Well, you can bet, there is no love lost for him in Pitt-town. I'll bet he gets booed every time he touches the puck. So, maybe that will help--if Jagr scores in Pitt, it will at least make you all feel better that it will irk the Pens fans to no end.
  17. I don't hate Crosby--the only thing I hate about Crosby is that he is not wearing a Flyers uniform. He's not the "dive-queen" or prima-donna that he was when he started. He is absolutely the best player in the NHL. But, my favorite player in the NHL--Claude Giroux. After all I am a Flyers fan above all... And, he's the first new jersey I've purchased since John LeClair (well I haven't purchased it yet; I'm hoping Santa will put it under the tree). Thanks for posting the article--It was a great read!
  18. I have an office collegue that is a huge HABs fan... Flyers have to win this one, or it will be a long week at the office. I admit that I ask for it--my office is decked out with Flyers, Phillies, and Eagles stuff everywhere. My office has become the sports "water-cooler" where everyone congregates to talk sports. I like that; but, the "Habs" guy is a bit on the obnoxious side. The Flyers should win this one; but, the Habs did have our number on our last meeting. But, wow, they are the worst transition team I've watched this year. Flyers should have a lot of "odd-man rushes" since the Habs look completely out of sync in the neutral ice strategy. Hope D.B. stays on fire too! He looks strong!
  19. I'm not normally a conspiracy person; but, the lack of news on his condition does cause one to wonder. Of course I'm in Alabama, so maybe you see news regularly there; but, I can find nothing on the web from any source about his condition. The eye injury is the one that worries me most... I agree with MadDog that the Flyers are just not any where near as good without him. That is what I like about Pronger most--not his "stats" but, the intangible that he brings to the team. Flyers play better when Pronger is in the lineup--no doubt! Hope he recovers soon--and I also agree that I'd rather wait until he's fully healed before he steps on the ice.
  20. @Vanflyer--sorry I didn't mean to hijack your thread--didn't see it. I just posted as soon as the game was over--I was pretty excited over that final goal. I'm a big D.B. fan! ...and the two words "Playoffs" and "Clutch"--right on! The more on the line, the better D.B. plays!
  21. Danny Briere is back on his game. Thanks to Digy's thread on "Most Frustrating Flyer"--a couple of us called out D.B. for not playing up to his potential. We knew he was better than the 8 game dry spell for him. I'm happy for him and the Flyers--nice win and comeback vs. the Islanders. Digy's thread must have reversed the curse... Lavy made the right call to shake thing up by bring in the "Bob-ster"--nice shut out after he came in--Bobs had some terrific saves! Jagr reaggrivating that groin was disappointing though.
  22. The thread title is most "FRUSTRATING" Flyer. I'm not frustrated with Simmonds--he is exactly what I expected at this point in his career. But, frustrating?!--has to be D. Briere for me. He's MUCH BETTER that how he is playing right now. He has the potential for greatness and it is frustrating for me to watch him play below that potential. He just hasn't seemed to get out of 1st gear this season. He is especially slow in the first period. His play improves when the Flyers backs are against the wall. That indicates to me it is more of a mental thing than physical athleticism. Danny B. needs to step up his game. He seems tentative on forechecking and his indecisive in the zone. He's needs to loosen up and let it rip-he's better than what we're seeing right now IMHO.
  23. Nice thread! I am totally thrilled Sidney Crosby is back--he's good for the NHL and he is a remarkable player. I am also in agreement with those that say he has matured. Do I want him to win?--NO! I'm a Flyers Fan; but, I know greatness when I see it. Sidney Crosby could very well be the best player in the NHL. What is amazing is the Penguins have won without him and even Malkin has been out a lot this season. The Penguins are the team to beat in the Atlantic Conference. Right now the Pens are better than the Flyers; but, anything can happen once the playoffs start. And any victory the Flyers can achieve over the Pens are just that much sweeter when Crosby is on the ice. The pressure is all on the Pens--I think the Flyers have the potential to be great this year. I am not conceding ANYTHING to the Pens! I'm just being honest in my opinion. Go Flyers!
  24. If it happened in Philly the headlines the next day would read, "Bryz Continues to "Stick" it to the Fans! "
  25. That depends on what the meaning of is is...
