  1. I posted this in the shoutbox yesterday, but wanted to add it here as well. The Flyers have recalled eight Phantoms as Black Aces: Alderson, Alt, Cousins, Danis, Holmstrom, Lauridsen, Manning, Straka
  2. HOLY CRAP! $335.... At some point, at some time, I think there is a limit to what people will spend in most markets. What that is, and when it will happen is obviously up for debate. But what @murraycraven said: " couch and beers for me" The last season tickets I owned, were the last year of the Spectrum. I loved the look and feel of the new building back then, but was not about to pay the increase. I can't even fathom paying for them now. I know their are season ticket holders on this site, and good for them. I would love to have them again, but it's not worth a 2 hour drive--with traffic--the cost of attending--and then a 2 hour drive home. Maybe I'm just old?
  3. This...times 1000. Someone offered me lower level seats for last night. 15 rows off the ice, Center Red line. They were $225, a piece. I'm 99.9% sure that was face value.
  4. Can't disagree with anything here....solid points.
  5. I'm in no way blaming Emery for this series...he shoulda had that Carcillo goal, IMO. But there were enough OTHER problems last night, that Carcillo's goal was just the final insult.
  6. This is from Kerry Fraser's blog on TSN.ca Pretty much answers the questions I had about the 18 month rule. A player's record is expunged if he goes 18 months without an infraction but that only applies to the formula for calculating lost wages. If a player has a fine or suspension in last 18 months, he's a repeat offender and the lost wages formula is based on number of games suspended (5/82 for a five game suspension) as opposed to number of days (5/182 for a five game suspension in a 182-day regular season). But a player's "history" stays with him as a permanent record and the NHL can take into account any or all past transgressions when determining length of a suspension. History doesn't allow the NHL to suspend a player who, if not for his history, wouldn't be suspended. But once an illegal play has taken place, the NHL can use Matt Cooke's history as part of his sentencing even if his transgressions were years ago..
  7. I agree 100% with you. My issue is the absolute STUPIDITY of the "18 month rule" and the slate supposedly being washed clean. There is no way in hell, that happens. So stop with the charade, and just hammer people when they cross the line.
  8. Here's the thing that is completely ridiculous. By definition, Matt Cooke is NOT a repeat offender. It's been greater than 18 months since his last suspension(if what I'm reading is correct). SO...by the league's own definition/policy/standard/historical track record, how does he get more than 5 games? Again, applying the logic/definition of 1st time offender the NHL has devised. This is by NO means a defense for Cooke. Granted, the players injury comes in to play as well, but we've seen equally nasty hits/plays with injury, and not a 12-15 game type suspension. What a joke the league's discipline policy is(yes, I know, redundant statement we've all said 1000 times before). Or am I missing something? Other than....he's a repeat offender, but technically we won't CALL him that. But we'll discipline him as one...
  9. I think he gets 10 minimum.....that was brutal.
  10. Well, that's easy...Your Delta Chi name is...."FLOPPER". HE HE HE....
  11. And don't forget to say, "Thank you, sir. May I have another?", while you're at it.
  12. I wasn't down on him. I still think he's suspect when he's gotta go post to post, in a heartbeat. But he flat out made huge saves when they needed to. That 2nd period was a thing of beauty.
  13. Talking in game chat about Emery's performance in Game 2. Wondering when the last time the Flyers won a playoff game due to goaltending?? We've certainly seen our share of losses over the years!!
  14. @ReluctantSE: Berube calls Mason day to day and says he will not back up Emery in Game Two.
  15. If the 4th line only gets 7 mins like last night, I don't think it matters who is skating on it. For all the talk of rolling 4 lines, they certainly didn't do that. And it's not because they were losing the whole game and playing catch up--as everyone has pointed out, this game was tied after 2. I can't figure out why that happened. Line matchups dictated by Rangers have last change? Makes no sense to me.
  16. This is a must watch! http://yahoohockey.tumblr.com/post/82997339946/a-stirring-tribute-to-buffalo-sabres-star-ville
  17. Great point, Rad. I completely forgot that Capgeek(for next season) includes Pronger's money since technically he isn't on LTIR until the season begins. That's the money I was "missing" when doing my calculations.
  18. It was even more impressive in person. I didn't watch ANYONE else, or the puck when he was out. He was that good. It was ridiculous.
  19. Goaltending... Goaltending.. Goaltending.. Oh, yeah...goaltending. See Pens vs CBJ as example. Bob lets in 2 softies, and they blow a 2 goal lead to lose Game 1.
  20. So a player with just "whiplash" can't travel now, huh?
  21. Capgeek is down at the moment, but last I looked, the Flyers had 5-6 million in space, with a projected cap of $71 million, and 17 players signed. That does not include re-signing B Schenn. SO...do you re-sign a promising young center, or re-sign a 40 yr old Dman. To me, that's what it comes down to. You can't sign both players, there isn't enough cap space. Now if they move someone, that's a different story....but who are they trading? Realistically? Moving Grossman and/or L Schenn may happen, but TBH, I think that weakens the blueline, especially if the L Schenn of late continues. Kimmo is a warrior, I will always defend him/his play/his work ethic. I'm just not sure he fits next year.
  22. I think this is the link to Ghost's contract. I posted it in the shoutbox last night and copied it from there. Capgeek is down at the moment, so I can't confirm it still works. http://capgeek.com/player/3385
  23. So did this little green fella at my desk......for the record.
