  1. "underachivers like Carter and Richards" Uh....no Richards is a stud. one of the best 2 way players. Underachiever is a slightly hilarious description. Even Carter could in no way be called anything but a great pick. If anything, you could describe them as being "often injured"and perhaps "disappointing", only because they did not win two more games a few years ago. Underachievers? that's funny
  2. wow...just wow. My original post was going to be more negative, but I edited it heavily before hitting POST Flyers have been riding high and due for a crash, I just wasn't expecting ALL the wheels to fall off at once
  3. They have been riding high with offense by Simmonds and Hartnell. I see that being a problem long term, they are hot right now, but tough Boston D and Goalie could end that right quick. Real good test today.... Hard when your best players are out A win and I will be drinking the kool-aid though
  4. I hate everybody....But The Rangers also make my blood boil a bit more because of the whole Bernie-Eye-Injury Crosby makes me nuts (and Kasper essentially ended Lindros's career), but 2000 was a hoot Devils got in the way too often, but hard not to have respect for MB, future HOF'r. Earlier, it was the Oilers that got in the way,.... But all in all it is the Rags for me. the have been #1 for waaaaaay to long Fark them
  5. Well, that's selling him quite short. He was (and is) one of the best two way players in the game...with very good intangibles. There is a reason he played in every situation when with the Flyers, and has succeeded at just about every level. He was an average goalie away from a Stanley Cup here in Philly and has been on fire as of late. Huge loss for LA if he's out for a while, and to be honest...I'd want him back and would give up Schenn and Simmonds to get him
  6. Disappointed with Simmonds in a big way. Watched him a few times play the Sharks last year since I live in Palo Alto. The guy always seemed like he skated like a young deer....Tall, gangly and goofy. That and the fact that he doesn't seem to know how to get the puck out of the zone. Briere right now is causing me some discomfort, but he does not have his old line mates, so I'm not surprised. Briere of course has a much higher probability of turning his game around. Simmonds does not inspire much confidence JVR....not ready to give up on him, as he shows hints of what he could become, but "Mighty G" he is not OTOH....Couturier and Read are giving other teams fits...that's just swell
  7. Yeah, Jagr took me by surprise, I didn't see him playing at this level (better than Nodl though....*smirk*). I was blown away by the signings, the trades and the shake-up. crazy how this team can just reset like it has...just need to get over the hump and bring back the cup. Too bad it took this long to realize the importance of the goaltending position. I'm just wary about the cost...
  8. February 1979 My first game, my friend Howie gave me his third ticket. He and his dad went to every home game. I was like 12. Finally got to see my Hero Bernie Parent, live in person. Then Bernie got his eye injured...skated quickly to the bench holding his face. He would not play another game. I met him in the early 80's when he spoke at my high school. Told him I was at the game and I was his biggest fan, shook his hand and thanked him. Oh...and they lost
  9. I don't know how BR and Cow-toe do it. What kind of life is that? I can only spare a few minutes a day at most...perhaps between periods watching a game. Never...never at work (as I have *real* job) Guess someone got shoved too much on the playground...
  10. I don't know how this would get implemented, but I'd like to see the trapping team have the face-off in there zone. 10-15 seconds of no forechecking and a 1-3-1 formation and then a whistle. Face-off in the trapping team's zone...done. trap gone in a few games. 10 seconds is plenty for a line change, if the team goes into the trap the opposing team can either skate into/through it or hold back and wait like the Flyers did. the refs at this point can give a visual warning similar to offsides. Then they count to themselves for a 5 more seconds or so, if the trapping team does not send in a forechecker to cross the blue line, then they are whistled for delay of game. No penalty is necessary, just a face-off
  11. Stats have us as a .500 team w/out Pronger which seems about right. Columbus not withstanding (Tuuurrible team) they played OK without him. He clearly adds a great deal to the calming factor they need in tight games. Good mentor to the younger Dmen... Glad he's almost back, that was a scary-ass injury
