  1. Voting islanders in six, regardless of the winner I'm looking forward to this series
  2. I'd say the more crucial rule would be 609-B Rule 609 | Cross-Checking (Note) Cross-checking is the action of using the shaft of the stick between the two hands to forcefully check an opponent with no portion of the stick on the ice. (a) A minor or a major penalty shall be assessed for cross-checking an opponent. (b) A major plus a game misconduct penalty shall be assessed to any player who injures an opponent as a result of cross-checking.
  3. I don't think I've seen Fleury as frustrated as he was from the penalty onward. This was quite the game, with a crazy third period
  4. Hertl scores a SHG in 2nd Overtime to force a seventh game, which is an amazing comeback from being down 3 games to 1. Jones played excellently with some great saves, which was refreshing. *really* looking forward to game 7, should be a fun one
  5. From the article I linked to
  6. The big deal is apparently they're shocked that a musician who was famous in the 40s sang racist songs which, well, was the style at the time.
  7. It's not because it's overstayed its welcome but because they took this long to take offence at the rest of her music library. Details here.
  8. Well, this sure has been an unpredictable round, huh? Avs one game away from knocking out the top seed in the west after an OT win right after another upset in the east
  9. Are they doing this broadcast from a broom closet? Damn, they gotta find a bigger studio to broadcast from. Taking the win convincingly the canes have made it a bit more interesting
  10. Florida and the Islanders both have attendance issues regardless of form (the Islanders is icing a fantastic team right now and the crowds haven't improved). I don't know much about Florida, but from what I gather the stadium is in a poor location in the suburbs. In Australia the Victorian teams *could* play in their (contractually) clean home stadiums in their home region but they end up playing in the more expensive MCG or Marvel Stadiums as they are in the city and people would actually turn up to them. However, it would take a lot of courage to try to push for a downtown arena for a team that has a lethargic fanbase (assuming there's the space for one; again I don't know much about Florida). That said, if they do move (which is unlikely), I want them to stay in the East. With Seattle entering the comp we finally have balanced conferences and my obsession with patterns and symmetricity... well, yeah.
  11. For the most part yeah, the owner is the biggest issue for the team. I sure haven't seen a situation where the fans of a team actually take up advertising space showing their discontent with the owner/leadership team. The fans have a memory, and the shadow of what happened to Alfie hangs over every current decision- exposing Methot, trading Karlsson, the horrible trade involving Hoffman, and with this trading a first pick for Duchene and then trading him for picks right after he starts being a core part of the team. So yeah, crowds are down, as a percentage of capacity Ottawa are second last (well as of midway through the season, that's the last reliable stat I have) which is amazing considering it's, well, Ottawa. There are a bunch of other issues- yeah the stadium is in a poor position but it's not as bad as people say and parking is relatively cheap (as low as $15). Of course having the downtown arena would be much better, however Melnyk's intransigence could be more due to a lack of money on his end than anything else. He's- to paraphrase an article I read- 'Billionaire poor' in that while he certainly has a lot of money, it's quite possible he isn't at the level of wealth to be able to pay for a stadium. Teams are owned by consortiums to protect against the sort of vulnerability that happen with a single owner. And of course form is another reason for people not turning up. If you give people the impression you're icing an AHL team in the NHL, well, why would people turn up? Why would people buy jumpers with their favourite player on the back when the owner trades everyone's favourite player near the end of every season? The number of Duchene jumpers I see during broadcast is really high. Will those people be buying another Senators jersey anytime soon? Hmm. However. That all said, I can't imagine the team being moved. NHL management seems to prefer expansion over shifting teams nowadays and really, taking another team away from Canada (I honestly don't see them being moved to Quebec, which is a smaller market than Ottawa) just seems like a terrible idea. The Senators podcast I listen to has this season decided to intro their episodes with this section of this song, and honestly... Yeah, it's pretty apt
  12. So Wagner swats the puck out of the air, resulting in a goal. As expected the question is whether it was played with a high stick, and the refs said that it was a non-reviewable play and so the call on the ice stands. So hey, what are the rules for this sort of thing? What plays are reviewable, if this one isn't?
  13. You're missing the Senators third jersey, it's their NHL 100 jersey from last year
  14. Does it count if it's just posting in the Coyotes forum asking if it's been moved to Seattle yet
  15. To copy+paste from the Senators Prospects twitter- Gabriel Gagné had a breakout season in 2017/18 where he led #AHL Belleville in goals and was the team's only All Star. He has one of the best shots in the #Sens organization. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiPaJRXR_yc An interesting highlight reel. My favourite part was when the gain was set too high and the announcers' voices were constantly clipping.
  16. Why do none of these graphics point out its biggest use- it can be used as a makeshift flail. You could kill someone with those spikes! Or really annoy them at the very least.
  17. Keeping Your Team Hyper Competitive Year in Year Out: A Comprehensive Guide by Guy Boucher
  18. a horrible tragedy. I hope the media leaves those grieving alone.
  19. Bing says understated for the first, ugly for the second.
  20. They say it's from the future but it looks the same as before (if there are minor differences, please, point them out). That said, why change a jersey design that works so well? Good colours, clean design with enough going on to not be boring, and with the focus on a great logo.
  21. Hmm, the white looks a lot better than the... is it supposed to be grey or silver? Honestly I quite like Colorado's jersey. Interesting lines.
  22. OK OK, you can stop getting all impatient waiting for a more detailed shot of the Senators jersey Damn that's underwhelming.
  23. Huh, it does look like a soccer jersey. Honestly regardless of what logo they use, I wanted a somewhat more interesting design. The one they went for is... well, boring, like last year. I do agree that the profile shot worked a lot better. Also, did you notice Las Vegas' outfit? Ugh. If I were to go to bed wearing something like that yeah, it's a fine design. But on the ice? Looks so drab. See a better shot below-
  24. Low res I know. I was under the impression Ottawa were dumping the Roman logo in favour of the O logo. No huge changes that jump out at me, though I see the expected change for the Oilers is in there.
