  1. Thanks jammer2. Thanks for the info. I was kind of wondering why Hextall hasn't made a move on him. He might know something from his LA days while Penner was there.
  2. Who do they have waiting in the wing's that a good LW prospect?
  3. That's about what I was thinking. Maybe playing on a line with Giroux and Voracek might be a motivator for him. I know he is not the ideal solution, but like Del Zotto, could be a let's see what you can do kind of thing. If Hartnell can put up those kind of numbers, what could Penner do? They are the same age. So like you said $1.5 million and see what happens. If you pitch a "you'll play with Giroux," just might get it done.
  4. Hello all, it's been a while. With all the talk of the need for a LW, why not go after Penner? He's a decent LW, a definite upgrade from Hartnell, and a cup winner. His salary was $2 million last year and is still not signed. Not sure what the deal is with the salary cap situation now that Del Zotto has been signed, but is squeezing in $2 million or less might be possible. Would love to hear what everyone has to say. Thanks.
  5. Does anyone think Luongo will be able to handle the Philly media and fans, as well as, the pressure that comes with playing in Philly? He had a difficult time doing that in Vancouver. He'll be eaten alive and the Flyers will be in the same spot as they were with Bryz. In my opinion, not a smart move.
  6. @murraycraven, I agree with you 100%, they should build from defense out. Sort of the old school Devils model. Only problem they have is the available D-men. Not any really topnotch D-men out there like last year. If they do get one, one of the youngsters are leaving. Not sure they should do that.
  7. No worries Doom, it has been a while posting and must have just missed the Miller thread. I think Ruff is a good coach. His squads have had a descent D and the O produced. maybe I'm wrong. I dig Laviolette, but no thought of working on D.
  8. Sorry Doom, must have missed it. Haven't posted in a while, but usually read up on things. He's 32, Bryz is 32 and they pretty much signed him for the rest of his career. Ruff may whine, but he is a top notch coach and wouldn't mind him coaching the Flyers.
  9. So buy out Bryz and roll with Mason? Any other options at goaltender in the UFA market?
  10. It's been a while boys, so please bare with me. I know this is coming from everyone's favorite blogger, Ek, but he mentioned that the Flyers maybe interested in Miller. Said something like giving up Schenn. Miller is about a half million higher cap hit than Bryz, but a consistently top goaltender in the league. From what I have seen and heard, Miller is also a leader, where Bryz is more of a distraction than anything else. I would like to give Mason a shot and hate to give up Schenn, but Mason is really unproven and they have quiet a few young forwards. I think Miller has quiet a few more years in him, he is only 32. Try to sign him for 4 yrs (I think signed for 2 more already and may want a long final contact) and keep Mason in the wings. Would like to keep Schenn and ride Mason, but they may be in the same situation with their goaltender if Mason flops.
  11. I think for leadership, Gagne would be great for this young team. He is a hard worker and always comes to play. He can be fragile, but works hard to come back from whatever ailment he has. I say they try to keep him if the price is right.
  12. Then that's even better, they are really going to be up against the cap with Carle. What, they should have about 3 mill to play with? Would be a good addition if they can convince Briere to move to rw. Not sure he would do it but would be a pretty good looking line; Hartnell, Giroux, Briere.
  13. Just thinking of some ideas of what the Flyers could do. They are up against some cap issues and need to address a rw for G. How bout going after Prust and putting him with the 3rd or 4th line and move up Briere to rw for G? Prust isn't a powerhouse on the scoring front, but does work the pk and is a nasty player to play against. Not sure what it would take, but he scored 8 goals last year, so what 3 mill or so? Could be a Talbot type move.
  14. The series is not over by any means, but this game is waaaaayyyy out of reach. Game 5 in Pitt. Did everyone really believe that they were gonna sweep the Pens? Two of the best players in the world on a very talented team, it wasn't gonna happen. Just thought that they would have at least showed up tonight.
  15. Hey Daily News, thanks for the bulletin board material, appreciate that.
