  1. So happy this buffoon is no longer involved with this organization. His tenure was utter garbage. Sorry I ever gave him the benefit of a doubt. More needs to be one, but it’s a start.
  2. I guess. But he could be useful to them 5-6 years from now. Would be totally Flyer-esque to have good goaltending when they don’t need it, only to trade it away and then need it when they don’t have it.
  3. Agree. No one is important except maybe Hart, but feel like we’re just wasting him here.
  4. 100% agree, FC. All of that is accurate. And, yeah, nice to post a little but it sucks that it’s under these unfortunate circumstances.
  5. I love Torts, but you knew he was going to get more out this roster than a dead last record. That said, Fletcher should have gutted the roster once he knew Couturier and Atkinson were going to miss the seasons. Any semblance of value should have been traded at any point during the season. Christ, Hayes is having a statistically good season for himself. But should not be part of the long term solution here. Should have been traded and salary retained. Collect picks in this years draft, whatever it takes.
  6. For me, the abject failure of the deadline is a culmination of a GM that has done nothing to improve this team now or in the future. He has made zero moves that impact this team in a positive way. None. And this follows a GM who similarly failed to do anything to improve this team when it had a smidgen of talent still left on it. I cannot comprehend the failure to move JVR for anything, but it’s more than that. Failing to trade JVR is symbolic of the complete failure of this GM and the organization in general since Snider died. How were Braun and Seeler not moved? Were trades for Hayes, Provorov or anyone else explored? This deadline should have been about acquiring as many picks as possible. Instead, we trade for a “reclamation” project. News for you, Chuck: there is nothing about Brendan Lemieux to reclaim. They guy is a piece of **** who sucks. What a ****** joke. The guy is low energy and lacks creativity. Get him out of here please. Just a nightmare of an organization at the moment. Total joke.
  7. Flyers won’t be relevant for 10 years absent a superstar landing in their lap via the draft. They have lost generations of fans — old and young — the past few years and the losses won’t stop any time soon.
  8. Honestly, I don’t put a lot of stock into his ramblings. He’s been inaccurate more than a few times. I’m not saying the old players don’t have a voice, but I think he’s exaggerating the impact those voices have.
  9. The ineptitude is astounding. The man has no idea as to how to manage a team or build a roster. He had weeks to trade JVR, Braun and even Seeler and somehow managed to move none of them. Maybe we should be thankful he didn’t move anyone of significance. The risk of him ****** it up is too high.
  10. There is no reason to keep this buffoon around. Should be fired immediately.
  11. Who is this team? Nice to have entertaining -- and winning -- hockey.
  12. Yeah, agree re: management. Let’s see. Honestly after listening to him, I want Tortorella to be president, GM and coach of this organization. The best part with him is that there is no BS. Don’t think this org has been honest with itself since the Legion of Doom was formed (at least since Terry Murray called the team chokers).
  13. I watched the first 10 minutes of this and love everything he said. Will have to watch the rest later. He's spot on with everything he's said in what I heard. I just hope his methods translate into acceptance by the players.
  14. And well before that, they signed Vanbiesbrouck over Joseph. Never understood that. And, yes, failure to address goaltending was their major undoing for many years. Mystifying after watching Bernie and then Pelle star for them.
  15. Don’t be slandering my boy Zhamnov. I stand by the notion that he was one of the most skilled players they ever had. Him and Malakhov were beasts that year. That said, they’ve felt like they were “thisclose” ever since the Legion of Doom became a thing. They should have kept building and developing around Lindros. Team was never complete.
  16. Honestly, don't think that it's much of a problem from a cap perspective. But sure screws up their defensive plans.
  17. Unfortunate, but not surprising. Question is whether this was a pre-existing condition that they knew (or should have known) would get worse over time. Hope he just retires sooner rather than later, but no way he does that. They will play the LTIR charade for years. Not even sure his contract is tradable unless insurance is covering the salary. Good times.
  18. The off-season is a failure. Their stated intention, which I disagree with FWIW, was to “aggressively retool.” They failed miserably at that. Their strategy, if they had one, to sign JG was a disaster. If that’s your goal, you have to know exactly what it will take to get him and be willing to do whatever that is. It seems like Fletcher got halfway there by buying our Lindblom and maybe also part of the reason for getting DeAngelo. But he failed to trade JVR because he decided he couldn’t do what was necessary. His balls shrunk when it came down to it. Glad they did because JG shouldn’t have been a target, but Chuck failed in achieving his goal. Braun is a good vet example for young dmen. I don’t mind the signing. They will be better off the ice with him, but worse on it. That’s ok. Deslauriers at that hit and term on day 1 of UFA is a horrific signing. I wouldn’t mind him on a two year deal at $1m per year. I think a player like him can serve a role on this team, but not at that price/term. No reason to buyout Lindblom for either of those moves. I hope they at least legitimately tried to deal him before buying him out. DeAngelo. Get it from an on-ice perspective. Do not get it from an off-ice perspective. Coach: “I think there were locker room issues last year.” GM: “Let’s bring in a guy with a history of locker room problems.” Really? Just hope he behaves here. Lots of draft capital to give up, which perhaps could have been used…I don’t know…to help with trading JVR instead??? Worse, signing DeAngelo and Braun is essentially an admission that Ellis is done. But Fletcher was happy to hand out that contract last year. Another failure. And let’s not forget about resigning Ristolainen in March. That’s part of the off-season too and also sad and comedic. And, again, their strategy was to aggressively retool. Never should have been the case to begin with. So, their strategy was a failure but also their execution of it. Double fail.
  19. And on Day 1 of UFA. I mean, this might be the worst UFA signing I can think of since at least Dale Weise. Look, I get the theory for wanting this guy. But at that rate for that term on day 1? Holy Jumpin’.
  20. Team is capped out with this roster. Absolutely brutal.
  21. Lindblom doesn’t move the needle much on this team. But, there was absolutely no reason to buy him out based on how things went today. Fletcher ****ed up. Misread the market for JVR and thought he could sell him for less. Should have figured out (and been prepared to give) what teams wanted for JVR before jettisoning Lindblom. He should have known for months what people wanted in order to take JVR. So, I don’t know how he ****ed up this bad. I kind of get the Braun signing from a vet perspective. The guy is apparently a great pro. Helpful for some of the young guys to watch, even though he is not very good at the moment. Giving Deslauriers 4 years on the first day of UFA is unreal. Why have our GMs been so bad? Why?
