    Further evidence of his incompetence.

Ok that is nice you have to move someone so the 5th now is going to at least cost you a 3rd or 4th you don't get extra just because you're in a bin.

But nope he does then a favor for free.

    Ugh.  He’s pathetic.

Is anyone "part of a solution" in the next 3-4 years?

I would be hard pressed to agree.

The idea "Nick Seeler" is an important piece - or even "Laughts" for that matter - is laughable.

Agree.  No one is important except maybe Hart, but feel like we’re just wasting him here.

Fans aren't mad at Fletcher just for yesterday. They're mad at him for his complete incompetence during his entire tenure as a Flyer GM (and Minnesota GM before). Every move he makes helps the other team more than it does the Flyers. This was just the icing on the cake.

While draft picks were flying everywhere, 1st rounders were going for a guy with 4 goals and 10 assists, Chuck, FINALLY NOT GOING FOR IT, but as a seller brought in the grand total of a 5th and a 6th and future considerations. He refused to deal Nick Seeler...NICK SEELER!!!...because "he's too important to the team" NICK SEELER! If he was from Saskatchewan he would have been long gone. It's this kind of stupity that has us where we are. 1 pick in the first 3 rounds of one of the deepest drafts ever. Brilliant.

edit: Apparently vis was saying the same thing I was seconds before . Nice to see you around vis.

100% agree, FC.  All of that is accurate.

And, yeah, nice to post a little but it sucks that it’s under these unfortunate circumstances.

Well believe it or not there was actually one to keep the ship headed towards land to run it aground for Bedard.

But even Chuckles fcuked that up too because he can't even tank right!!!!

I love Torts, but you knew he was going to get more out this roster than a dead last record.  That said, Fletcher should have gutted the roster once he knew Couturier and Atkinson were going to miss the seasons.  Any semblance of value should have been traded at any point during the season.  Christ, Hayes is having a statistically good season for himself.  But should not be part of the long term solution here.  Should have been traded and salary retained.  Collect picks in this years draft, whatever it takes.

  5. For me, the abject failure of the deadline is a culmination of a GM that has done nothing to improve this team now or in the future.  He has made zero moves that impact this team in a positive way.  None.  And this follows a GM who similarly failed to do anything to improve this team when it had a smidgen of talent still left on it.

I cannot comprehend the failure to move JVR for anything, but it’s more than that.  Failing to trade JVR is symbolic of the complete failure of this GM and the organization in general since Snider died.  How were Braun and Seeler not moved?  Were trades for Hayes, Provorov or anyone else explored?  This deadline should have been about acquiring as many picks as possible.  Instead, we trade for a “reclamation” project.  News for you, Chuck: there is nothing about Brendan Lemieux to reclaim.  They guy is a piece of **** who sucks.  What a ****** joke.

The guy is low energy and lacks creativity.  Get him out of here please.  Just a nightmare of an organization at the moment.  Total joke.

    Not to mention the C-Suite.

"We're not even close to having the foundation built" isn't the mantra this organization* has been following for 10 years.

I am more than willing to give Tortellini the space to make this work.

    We'll see...

Yeah, agree re: management.  Let’s see.  Honestly after listening to him, I want Tortorella to be president, GM and coach of this organization.  The best part with him is that there is no BS.  Don’t think this org has been honest with itself since the Legion of Doom was formed (at least since Terry Murray called the team chokers).

Seemed like the Flyers never thought having a solid goalie was a big deal.

Till the year Snider watched Marty B bounce their asses in the playoffs and then insisted they need a stud goalie and well they effed up and thought that guy was Bryz.

Strangest thing about that is how many years did Snider watch Marty steal game after game and take his team to 3 Cups winning 3 before he realized this was a missing piece??

Only to then choose so badly on who that guy was he would sell the ranch for...

    :bonkingheadonwall:

And well before that, they signed Vanbiesbrouck over Joseph.  Never understood that.

And, yes, failure to address goaltending was their major undoing for many years.  Mystifying after watching Bernie and then Pelle star for them.

It just seems to me that the organization* fondly remembers the Alexei Zhamnov Era as "that time they almost made it."

If you have enough sow's ears one's just bound to be a silk purse, right?

Don’t be slandering my boy Zhamnov.  I stand by the notion that he was one of the most skilled players they ever had.  Him and Malakhov were beasts that year.

That said, they’ve felt like they were “thisclose” ever since the Legion of Doom became a thing.  They should have kept building and developing around Lindros.  Team was never complete.

  9. Unfortunate, but not surprising.

Question is whether this was a pre-existing condition that they knew (or should have known) would get worse over time.

Hope he just retires sooner rather than later, but no way he does that.  They will play the LTIR charade for years.  Not even sure his contract is tradable unless insurance is covering the salary.

    Good times.

Oh, but there was a bidding war and players like this are hard to find and the Flyers need to be tough to play against (but apparently not to score against).

I get the concept they are going for, but the execution is just ridiculously terrible.

The long and the short of it is that Fletcher was actually afraid of not signing Dislorry, eh? And so he overpaid in length and term.

Given that his analytics look astonishingly like Ristolainen's, I think we can see where he is coming from...

    Yep.  Sums it up.

So, Hex got the team back to 'head above water' status and damn, the team has sunk even further than I thought they could, like Fletch is forcing heads underwater like it's the Spanish Inquisition or something.  Sad

Team is capped out with this roster.  Absolutely brutal.
