  1. Congrats to Jake. Hopefully he can maintain his recent level of play...
  2. As long as we get a good defenCeman back for Fedotenko or Knuble Im all in. But that ain't gonna happen anyway...
  3. And incidentally given the large de-fence signs held up at most NFL games (with a picture of a fence, not a fense) it's a little ironic that Americans spell it defenseman
  4. Because the Canadians (being intelligent people) managed to keep the original English spelling rather than try and invent a new language...
  5. I can't say I like the guy but you do have to respect what he has achieved so far with the Ducks.
  6. When did this happen? AFAIK the case is still ongoing...
  7. To be honest, given the lack of detail about the whole incident it is very difficult to say what happened. But AFAIK essentially it is the girls word against theirs... Obviously there may be DNA evidence etc but it would probably boil down to consensual or not, and that is very hard to prove one way or another.
  8. About damn time is what I would say too... But equally, I would say he should have been gone last summer and Regier with him. Can never really see the point of doing this mid season, although it may just wake up some of the players.
  9. Indeed he might... But he's the kind of guy who will draw a ton of penalties and not take too many for you. Keep him away from your daughters though... Too soon?
  10. One thing not mentioned on the talent analysis is his ability to drive opposing players nuts... On my cell phone right now so can't post the link but last year he got one guy mad enough to deliver a double handed slash to the stomach during the game... edit, just checked and the guy who slashed him was Ryan Rupert from the London Knights. Ended up with a five game suspension from the OHL...
  11. Should also have said that he (Cousins) was the OHL player of the month in January...
  12. Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Nick Cousins of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds is the OHL Player of the Week after recording nine points in two games including two goals and seven assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-4 for the week ending February 17. Cousins led the Greyhounds to a pair of victories and took over top spot in the OHL scoring race last week beginning with a four-assist performance on Wednesday night as third star of an 8-0 win against the Sarnia Sting. On Saturday night Cousins picked up his second five-point game of the season and extended his personal point-streak to eight games scoring two goals and three assists including his league-high 70th helper of the season as second star of a 10-7 win over the Kingston Frontenacs. Cousins, a 19-year-old from Belleville, ON, is playing in his fourth OHL season with the Greyhounds. Named OHL Player of the Month for January, Cousins was selected in the third round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers and currently leads the OHL in scoring with 93 points in 56 games. http://www.ontarioho...the-week/138689
  13. Absolutely right... 4 mill would have been the max for me... He has been great for us over the years but age is taking its toll on Kimmo.
  14. I honestly don't see this happening... I see the Flyers as a playoff team, maybe 6th in the east or so. The first couple of weeks will go a long way to showing what kind of a team we have. That said I certainly don't see us as cup contenders this year unless some huge moves are made on D and goal...
  15. Even I would probably be an upgrade over Bryz and Leighton
  16. Well I would love to think so but still have cap concerns for the three aforementioned guys... Will not be cheap to keep them all. That said if someone like Lundy became available you sure as heck would have to take a shot at him.
  17. The problem is we have three big time RFA's that need to be taken care of that summer also... G, Schenn and Couts. Not sure how much wiggle room we will have then.
  18. The only good news is he is UFA at the end of this shortened season... So at least we don't have to worry about him next year.
  19. I hope they do, it was a disgraceful way to treat him. Absolutely agree with you. However I'm just saying IF the need arises to clear cap space his is the biggest hit to get rid of (assuming Kimmo is off the books) and as such may be expendable (from a management viewpoint, not necessarily mine)
  20. Two words for you on respecting and not insulting the player.... Simon Gagne If they felt they needed to do it cap wise they would do it in a heartbeat. FWIW I don't think he deserves to be bought out but if his production declines again this year it's a possibility. And yeah I know he's money in the playoffs every year.
  21. Yep, can see this happening, short term contract, maybe a home team discount. Unless he decides to go home to Finland. Either way he has given great service for the last few years, just a pity age is catching up with him.
  22. Guess the uptight was aimed at me then... I love America and it's people and spend a lot of time and money here but just get slightly bored by the jingoistic fervour that seems to get dredged up when the USA play on an international stage. The Ryder Cup being a prime example... I'm all for cheering on your team/country but I'm not keen on turning it into some kind of fake war. Anyway I'm not here to argue about it but obviously I, and some of the Canadian Flyer's fans, missed the special irony/sarcasm font when you wrote your post Lets go :PHI: !!!
  23. And strangely US sports fans around the world are not overly popular.... And I say this as someone who was cheering on the USA today.
