  1. To me,(not a hawks fan or hater) he appeared to turn over, take aim, and then swung for the fence. If he were to take the same swing at his legs and not his face, it is a 2 minute penalty and he gets his point across about being angry for being dumped. It was one of the more cowardly plays I have seen from a real hockey player. If I was DOPS, he would have been done until next season. The suspension he got is a joke. The DOPS had a chance to send a message with this by punishing someone of merit, great and high profile player, but they did not. Until the DOPS starts hitting these offenders in the wallet, with real suspensions and fines. the concussion train is going to keep on rolling, all night long.

  2. I haven't viewed Shanny's video, but I'll assume Keith got the one game for a retaliatory reckless stick. I agree though a fine would have given the same message.

I am trying to figure out how you can have a retaliatory AND reckless stick. If it was reckless, it probably would have been a fine. If it was retaliatory and intentional, suspension. Other than lazy hooking calls, I did not think Carter was one who used much stick work....

  3. Gary Bettman should not be able to leave his house without being pelted with insults, fecal matter, sticks, stones, pianos, kitchen sinks, etc..etc... The guys that have spoken out are not doing the negotiations any favors but they are voicing the opinions of over 90% of the players and fans. Bottom line, Gary Bettman is detrimental to the game of Hockey. He always has been and he always will be. His negatives will FOREVER outweigh any of the positives he has done for the game.

  4. For his size, Carter never fully utilized that when he was a flyer. The thing that sticks out the most in my memory of Carter's time is HIGH AND WIDE....He is a me first player and never really utilized his team mates. How many times could he have taken the puck into the zone but instead fired it high and wide only to have go the entire way back down the ice...Yes he has a phenomenal wrister and he is actually playing better with others since his move to LA. The hate he receives here is because people know the kind of talent he was capable of but all too often he chose not to exercise it due to injury, hangover, untied skate, or just plain not caring. Maybe his short exile to Columbus opened his eyes....

  5. One fukking snowball at a drunken Santa..............try living THAT ONE down........and to fishbulb, in the chirp story, several of the people who made the comments were from Mass. Another guy who was so incensed by the comments that he posted their names, adresses, schools attended, sports programs....whereas I might dislike our president mightily, I don't need to pull out the race card. i dislike him because he is an idiot, not because he is black.......

  6. I am not sure if the Sabres are mathematically eliminated but at this point I think only divine intervention will get them into the playoffs. Personally, Miller is not a guy I would want to face in the playoffs, especially with the roll he has been on. The injury bug has once again come up and bit Buffalo squarely on the butt at the worst possible time.

On another note, not sure if you are aware of this but Major Kudos to Terry Pegula for his contributions to PSU for the NEW Hockey Rink. His contributions will expand the college hockey following dramatically in the state of Pa and bring more recognition to the the sport.

  7. I think Boston tops Chicago with getting away with the cheap and dirty hits...The truth of the matter is that nothing will change until you put someone who is unbiased (teamwise) in charge of discipline. A couple of the names discussed in other threads that would make sense for the job are Kerry Fraser and or Ray Scapinello. Two guys that earned the respect of the players and coaches alike and with a back round to make the right call.

  8. Short of an injury, Hodgson was going to be relegated to the third line. Kesler and Sedin aren't going anywhere for the next 2 years minimum so he was not going to be breaking into the top 2 within the life of his contract. Kassian is going to be a GREAT 3rd liner for 1/2 the money. This should be a win win move in reality for both teams as the Sabres get a guy that can play on the top 2 lines for a reasonable cap hit. Was there a draft pick with this trade or was it just straight up? Either way,cap relief for the nucks and it will give Hodgson a real chance to play some top minutes with the Sabres.

  9. Thanks guys, appreciate the comments. And don't worry, if there's one team that understand your pain through the years of being completely inept in the goaltending position it's the Canucks.

Yeah, but at least Luongo has a toggle switch and plays more good games than bad.....I really wish I could say that for Bryzgalov.....

  10. It must be nice to have TWO capable goalies to choose from.....I actually enjoy watching the Nucks play as long as they are not playing the Flyers.. The Sedin Twins have made passing into an art form. I think you will go deep in the western conference, just on your collective goalie play alone. Welcome to the board and looking forward to reading more of your blogs.

  11. With the concussion flu that is running rampant in the NHL right now, the NHLPA is going to have to look at making some concessions to deal with players retiring due to inability to play. Buyouts are the only fair way for the teams losing players and the buy out contracts should be pro rated too. I would love to be injured and sit home and collect my normal pay until I am Healthy enough to work but it doesn't work that way in real life and the NHLPA needs to acknowledge that.
