  1. Considering my Fiancée passed in 2020 from issues created by covid symptoms that she obtained while doing her job as a pediatric nurse we don't really get that chance. Thank you for proving my point about this particular board.. I just didn't think it extended to the mods too. Disgusting. I'm completely done here. I'll find you on Twitter if I can so we can keep in touch LiG.
  2. I'm going to go ahead and say that no MN Wild forum will ever match the quality of the old boards or the people on it. I get exhausted by how many posts I have to weed through here and on other forums just to find a decent post about hockey that's actually worth having a conversation or debate over. It doesn't matter if its offseason or the playoffs the atmosphere is never even close. It was great getting to be all nostalgic with you all! but outside of it this thread I'm realizing the forum really doesn't seem to interest me at all so I doubt I'll be around much! Take care all you old schoolers!
  3. It wouldn't be the Wild message board without someone posting a "Wild fans think _______ is Jesus" meme. I wonder which player will be next since Kirill has been done now.
  4. I'd love to come in here once and not have to read a huge wall of text from the same poster in every single thread repeating the same opinions over and over about AHL kids. Holy crap. Let a thread be about something else for once. Back on topic I'm really still hoping a deal gets done that's in the 4-5 year range for KK. I feel like getting him locked down until the harshest years of the buyout penalties are past is the most important thing atm if they can.
  5. They offered him more term and money than I would have off the bat.. but if the length is the only thing keeping this from getting done.. Throw a fair 4-5 year deal at him and call it good. If he takes it he takes it.. if not that's on him. The Wild have been more than fair in their original offer. Just make sure you set the contract up so his next pay day comes when the buyouts are coming off the books a few years down the road so you can make that big next offer too. Would he get paid more from the KHL? nah. Would he get paid more with under the table deals to play in the KHL? possibly... we hear about that type of thing all the time.. but I can't personally prove it happens. If he wants to play in the NHL there's only one route atm. If he doesn't want to play in the NHL.. sadly, there really isn't anything the Wild can do.
  6. Via Russo.. I actually really like this addition and the price. Quick question about Goligoski's deal.. being its so spendy.. did they basically front load the cost this year while they have the $ knowing he's open to re-signing next season to stay here on a cheaper team friendly deal that fits under the cap issues the Wild will continue to have from the buyouts? cause if that's the case.. and we get him this year for the bigger hit and next year for quite a bit cheaper.. I really don't hate it.. but if it's a 1 year and done it's kind of a head scratcher that he got that much AND the NMC or NTC. like others have said you should either get the money OR the NTC/NMC not both in this case.
  7. Suter in a nutshell: -extending own shifts at will -limp wrist shots every single time -getting turned around/skated by constantly -letting the puck hop over his stick at the blue line so teammates have to get back onside and reset -being on the PP/OT with negative consequences -destroying locker room chemistry and creating a rift between a few vets and the rest of the team -brown-nosing Owners/GMs -choosing his own defense partners no matter if it hurts the team -been through many GM and coach changes.. with one of them calling him uncoachable that's just off the top of my head but it's enough.. I keep reading in blogs or seeing in videos how much of a "high end, high minute" guy he is from people.. and sorry. He might play high minutes but quantity doesn't always mean quality. Sometimes it just means a guy who had pull with the owner of the organization was deciding his own ice time. I'd actually double down on this and say I hope he does go to a divisional rival with a big cap hit to handcuff them a bit. It would be so nice to see our forwards taking advantage of his crap play instead of seeing it hurt the Wild. If Parise or Suter wins a cup it's not going to be on their backs.. it will be them singing to get carried to it by a team that's already there as a top contender.
  8. Was Steve was the nice guy with the dog(although I believe the dog eventually passed sadly)? I remember him too if so! I never made it to any of those meet-ups being so far north.. I wasn't at so many games just a couple/few per season when I could get time off work and schedule it in! The pictures everyone would post from them always made it look like you guys had a great time! Yeah, I probably could have worded that better! it def wasn't ALL of the Finnish posters! and we definitely had some obnoxious homers of our own you guys had to deal with as well! lol good times! edit: The "what's for lunch?" thread or whatever it was is something I just remembered.. it was always a good read and always made me hungry reading it.
  9. I'm not worried yet.. his agent knows what a talent he has and they're playing hardball to get him the most they can over his whole career.. not just for one contract. BG has seemed competent so far in his GM skill and I can see them working something out that works for both sides. I think the main thing freaking people out is that he's Russian and we've seen Russians bolt to the KHL. Any young player with his skill from anywhere would be wanting to maximize the money they can make both now and later. It's up to the Wild if they think he's that guy to pay him and keep him happy by surrounding him with a winning culture. Until the kid comes out and says he doesn't want to play here and demands a trade I have no reason to think this isn't just negotiation tactics.
  10. I never really ventured outside of the old boards until they forced us to leave and now I'm here on occasion when life slows down a bit lol so I didn't get to see all that on HFBoards at all! I would have gotten a kick out of it for sure! I actually remember you pointing out Zack Phillips skating issues well before the Wild drafted him in one of your pre-draft prospect write ups. Then, the Wild took him and most of us let out a collective groan realizing we just gave away Burns for basically Charlie Coyle and "Beer Time" Setoguchi.. You were spot on with that one and I don't know how anyone watching the kid play couldn't see the skating issues with their own eyes! Burns is still my favorite player to ever play for the Wild and I'm still upset atbout that trade and lack of return all these years later.
  11. I had completely forgotten about crazy amy! all of these memories flooding back reading this are great nostalgia lol I also remember my inbox being full of non stop message requests to get in touch(I'm talking THOUSANDS of messages) with Tom Saterdalen from a guy that wrote a blog(100% wasn't LiG lol). I let it slip that he's my relative on mom's side in a post and we had a guy constantly trying to get me to get him in touch or get him his contact info even though I stated multiple times I never really spoke to Tom outside of large family reunions or a quick hello at hockey tourneys around the cities growing up before I moved to Btown. LiG.. do you remember people coming into the boards and calling those of us that often posted there "The Message Board Mafia" or something of the like? Someone would post a well thought out post with facts and info backing stuff up and as soon as another member would say anything that agreed with them and disagreed with another point "OMG MESSAGE BOARD MAFIA BACK AT IT" lol Edit: I 100% remember that seizure goal light in the game day threads lol and I wanna say it was someone from another country that was posting it but I can't put my finger on the name. I could be wrong lol.
  12. We're celebrating up here today! lol I think they can still give another team value at a much, much cheaper contract and reduced role but I am very glad they're no longer on the Wild. Those cap hits might hurt in the future unless the cap rises a bit but this helps us ice a competitive team. I'm wondering if they were asked to waive the ntc/nmc for expansion but said no to try to force BG's hand out of anger at last season's situation. Either way.. good on BG for making those moves and allowing us to protect the younger guys. I'm hoping the cap rises enough that the hit isn't going to kill the Wild on that back end. I keep getting messages on social media from people mad about ZP leaving saying he would have carried us through the playoffs but not realizing he came in fresh legged off of a big rest just to look dead legged again after game and a half.
  13. Man, I miss those boards.. this place just doesn't hold a candle to the Atmosphere that was over there. Great Times! The Avs fans piling in at the start of the playoffs any time the Wild faced them only to slowly die off when they realized the inevitable. The battles with Canucks fans.. and Ducks fans. The posters from Finland that would come in and shame us for knocking holes in any Finnish players game at any time even if it was obviously something they needed to improve on. All of the college and high school hockey talk. The hilarious photo edits and homemade memes lol The odd obsession with the blonde gal behind the bench at the X. I never really got that one having seen her multiple times in person but it is what it is and the legend will live on. I don't think any forum can or will beat the game day threads from back then. They were fantastic and lively over there for years. Mostly.. I miss the collection of degenerates of all ages that made up the forum for years bickering and celebrating with each other. It really was something special and it's still a bummer it's gone. A lot of people got lost in the shuffle and I hope they're all doing well.
  14. Seeing all those names on 1 year deals come in now it does strike me as a surprise that Anas wasn't signed to a 1 year deal too. Unless there was something we don't know about behind the scenes maybe he wanted more money, more term or an actual NHL shot and the Wild wasn't willing. The big question I have now after the latest moves is why sign Rau and Cramarossa? there has to be more to the Anas thing than we all see cause it would make more sense to keep him in one of those spots if it was between him and those two. I get why they would keep Greenway over Anas but not why they would have Rau and Cramarossa over Anas. We had a great draft this fall imo! sadly it will take most of those players at least a year or two before coming over to the AHL and I think those older guys were signed as stop-gaps to fill the Iowa roster(again I'm surprised Anas wasn't one of these if they had to sign a couple).. if someone out plays any of them none of these guys signed should be boxing anyone with talent out of a big minute AHL roster spot or NHL call-up. I also wonder how high the new regime is on anyone that was drafted prior to this year aside from Kaprizov. We should start to see them taking over top minutes for Iowa in the next couple years if they are in the big club's long-term plans. This could also just be BG being BG and putting his stamp on the whole development system along with the big club. If that's good or not has yet to be seen. As for Greenway I really think he's on his way out too if he doesn't step up this year.. BG got in his ear at the end of the season and laid it out for him so all we can do is wait and see. I really hope he turns it around and if he doesn't I hope he's traded before his value drops any lower. The guy has all the tools he just can't seem to put them together and consistently play with the edge he should when he's that size and has that amount of skill.
  15. Leaving the Size thing completely out of it.. Anas is 27 and probably is what he's going to be at this point.. a good AHL player that may get a cup of coffee here or there in the NHL with injury call-ups. Had 0 trade value. Greenway is 23, still developing and has yet to hit his prime. Still has trade value. No brainer on who to keep if we're comparing the two...... I could also see the Wild moving on from some of the "older" AHL players so they can actually use those minutes in Iowa for developing young prospects moving forward.
  16. Meh I guess I hae a bit of a different view from most that hate this move... I can deal with it.. to me this tells me they are invested in Kahkonen or Jones and are giving them time. The Wild gave nothing up but a contract for a stop-gap for a few years imo is far better than giving up assets to trade for a guy like Fleury. Would you guys really rather see that they signed a high money/long term guy and completely blocked out the young guys while tying up even more money during a rebuild and right before the expansion? This is a reasonable deal for a 33 year old who led the league in basically every goalie category a few years back. Do I expect him to be an all-star? no. But with our defense core I do expect him to play well enough that he'll be better than Dubnyk was. It looks like Billy boy is sure setting himself up nicely for the expansion draft so far. Right now they don't have to risk losing anyone they don't want/need to.. and it's looking like he's grabbing players that they can expose at the expansion draft, let walk after the season if they don't work out or possibly unload at the deadline to a desperate contender for assets. Like.. they don't even HAVE To move Dumba.. they can keep him or wait till their asking price is met. no pressure and no teams taking advantage of Bill having to move him or risk losing him in expansion.
  17. No more "two way" Finns that play soft and don't use their body.
  18. The team is loaded with "2nd or 3rd line centers" that would be 3rd and 4th line centers on any other team. Staal was our #1 but he's not a true #1 anymore in the NHL imo he's just the best we had. When you plan on scouting and drafting for that spot you aren't guaranteed anything either and probably have a couple of years before the player is ready to be a #1 or #2 center in the NHL unless its a elite/franchise/generational player.. which we never seem to be in the position to draft. I don't think its smart to stop kicking tires on all possible fits with expiring contracts just because the former regimes sucked at kicking and re-signing. I agree on the big "ifs" of Bjugstad and Johansson and don't think they'll have a crazy turn around but even if they don't they'll either end up out at the deadline if someone is interested in a rental or at the end of the season if no one is interested in center depth at the deadline. I think the big thing is this team not handing out more stupid contracts with NTCs and NMCs.. we've all had it with that bs in the past.. and while its not Guerinteed rental players on expiring deals and a bad season might be your best bet to land in the area where you can pick that top six center of the future.. it just might be some rough hockey to watch for a couple seasons. The big thing is setting this team up for the Seattle expansion draft correctly to make sure we don't get a repeat of the Great Vegas Giveaway. That was rough.
  19. I agree lol I'm all for 1 year fringe player contracts or reclamation projects that expire soon if it will make Parise and Suter both want out. Getting out from one or both of those contracts would be huge moving forward. At this point the Wild HAVE to get worse to get better.. they f'd around too much trying to just put band aids on long-term problems with the roster and trying to adjust on the fly without actually rebuilding. As for MJ.. I don't know enough about the guy to even comment on him as a player. I don't follow Buffalo too closely. I guess I'm just hoping he comes in, plays as a serviceable center and stays healthy. Can't find those centers we need if you don't kick tires on everything.
  20. Not hyped about this deal but don't hate it either.. low risk and he's under 30. The Wild need depth in the middle badly.. so if he stays healthy and it works out great.. if not .. cut him loose.. no biggie. I actually am relieved to see Guerin kicking tires on deals like this instead of just going after a declining veteran center. I'd rather see what Bjugstad can do for a season than lock up another old overpaid player for multiple years.
  21. Thanks for the time and loyalty, Koivu. That being said.. this was fantastic news!
  22. I'm up north in Bemidji, MN and it seems like when anyone from any of the major MN sports teams or anyone that's athlete or celebrity comes up this way they've usually stayed at Ruttgers Birchmont Lodge on the lake. I don't know if they have a deal with the teams or if it's just the preferred vacation spot for fishing and stuff but that's where they're always at I have a friend that has a membership to work out and swim there and he meets all kinds of people(not so much this year obviously). Sadly, even though it's a beautiful spot to stay and they have private cabins and it's also on Lake Bemidji.. they could find better fishing in some of the low key lakes around here.. but Lake Bemidji is pretty darn decent!
  23. According to Russo: It doesn't surprise me... guy has been selfish his whole career here.. why should he want to help the team get something back that would help instead of him just clogging a roster spot for the rest of the season and being useless? Nice job Craptain Koivu.
  24. The only thing that makes me gun shy about trading Dumba ... is the fact I'm reading the exact same argument people made for trading Burns years ago.. and use to justify the trade to this day "he didn't show consistency until he was gone yadda yadda". I agree, if Dumba is what he is at this point he's trade bait .. but a small part of me worries the Wild just haven't given him enough time. I'm by no means saying he'll end up as great as Burns but Dumba shows flashes of what could be a very, very good defenseman and he's about the same age as Burns was when the Wild cut ties if I remember correctly. Unless they're getting a proven #1 or #2 center plus other assets back I wouldn't be in a hurry to trade him. At least not yet. If he does choose to pull the trigger.. BG better be getting something very solid in return here as the team can't afford to be set back further by losing more of the Wild's assets for minimal return. Even if a team is in blow-up full rebuild mode they should be getting back more value for the future than what the Wild has been in past trades.. and please no more over the hill aging vets with NMC/NTC.
  25. To be honest and I’ll probably get crap for this but.. if he stinks it up in Nashville and is going to sign for cheap somewhere..l like him enough as a player to bring him back for a year or two once Koivu is out.. as long as he’s getting 3rd liner money and not expected to be our #1 or #2 center. He could thrive as a 3rd line Center or wing with the right line mates that can bury their chances and he can fill in occasionally on line 2 if there are injuries. The big negatives I always had with him here were the lofty expectations and big cap hit.
