  1. IMO Illa's analysis is dead on, let him gain pro experience where he is unless there's an actual goalie injury. Dobbie's slump is nothing to worry about IMO. Ridiculous to rag on him for the recent Toronto fluke deflection goals. Blame Seeler if you must have a scapegoat. Every goalie has bad games occassionally.
  2. Yeah, no doubt. One bad period proves they suck. The fact that they have the 3rd best record in the Conference 30% into the season is irrelevant.
  3. I was so disgusted after the Buff game I expected another poor game against Chi and that's what happened, so even though it was very disappointing, I was prepared to be disappointed, so I wasn't as disappointed. The Buff loss really freaked me out... After a little time, though, I'm not so disgusted by the Buffalo loss. This isn't the Buff team of the last decade. With Eichel maturing into a superstar and Skinner rejuvenated they really are a decent team this year. Best thing they did was get rid of O'Reilly. He's a hugely over-rated, me-first primma donna IMO. I think you could see the AZ debacle coming, even when it was 3-1. After totally dominating play for two periods, they just started standing around. And Doobie finally had a really bad game... every goalie does occasionally, chit happens...
  4. BTW, for the first two periods I really appreciate MNSOTA and KC for chatting about those old time players. Great memories... BLAST TO THE PAST!! Thank you! But I can't do game threads because I can't post and watch at the same time. I almost always watch the game on DVR. I give the game a head start, then usually catch up to live play in the 3rd period.
  5. I've started a thread about NHL Standings at American Thanksgiving and how closely that corresponds to end of year final standings. I don't remember seeing that article in THN or one of the other sites this year but I've been pretty busy this year. IMO it's pretty clear the Wild's performance this year isn't a fluke. As usual, the team didn't get the respect it deserved in prediction articles. Nothing new there
  6. I agree the Caps did handle the Wild relatively easily. BTW - who are the defending Stanley Cup champs? Totally disagree about the other two games you mention. The Wild hung tough and played a very solid game on the road against Nashville. In fact, I think that game was the turning point for this season. Even though the team lost, it showed that it was in fact a very solid team. I think that was the game that Walz said post game the team would be fine if it kept playing like that. IMO not at all a bad loss, in fact the opposite. The Carolina game was a total joke, the Refs destroyed the game. The Wild never had a chance, constantly killing penalties... Personally, I think this has been a fantastic season and am enjoying it immensely! IMO Nashville is clearly the best team in the West and WPG is a very good team, the Wild is just a slight notch below. I just need to ignore the home grown hater trolls on this site. I don't lump you in with them, or several other posters here who are also still cynical, but I choose to enjoy victories and not dwell on the negative. That doesn't mean I won't criticize and whine and complain at times, but overall, IMO this is one of the best Wild rosters we've ever had, and I'm going to enjoy the run!
  7. After a terrible season with Carolina, E. Stall was traded for two 2nds and a prospect to the Rag$. Even though he's a few years older, he's proven he still can be a force in the NHL.
  8. My answer to this is you should go back and see how much desperate teams are willing to give for a rental player. IMO you don't know your trade deadline history if you think Big E. would garner only a late round Pick from a Contender looking to beef up for a Playoff run, or even a team with a desperate GM trying to even make the Playoffs.
  9. DEMANDING the Wild make the Conference Finals IS asking too much of ANY team IMO. Chit happens. Not saying that you were saying/demanding that, just answering your question.
  10. So far they're leaving Kunin there. I don't follow the AHL stats so my guess is he isn't tearing it up on the ice or on the stat sheet.
  11. Excellent video! Thanks KC! And for the article Antti!
  12. IMO this is the roster. And it is NOT a bad roster. This is a solid team. I'm enjoying the ride and thinking positive. American Thanksgiving...
  13. It won't be. American Thanksgiving - see where the team is at then...
  14. I agree. I think Coyle and Nino are both late bloomers.
  15. So where are your answers to the question? Blah blah blah I suck. Answer the question punk, no one cares about your butthurt rant against me..
  16. Read the first post to start the thread... This is for the Haters who have bidtdched for years they want a re-build, this team sucks, it should tank for a high draft pick. I'm asking them to back up their bidtching. What exactly would they do to make their tank fantasy actually happen if they were GM. Illa Zilla answered but the 20/20 hindsight GMs never posted any ideas. They just bidtch, not answer. No insight, minimal knowledge, 20/20 hindsight...
  17. I thought I saw a line of Zhamnov-Selanne-Tkachuk at the old Winnipg barn that was pretty good.
  18. Thanks for the link! Your fondness for the fat Russian kid is infectious! One thing I do believe, goal scoring is in large part a gift and apparently this kid has the knack!
  19. That's what has been happening last couple of years and we're seeing record setting 100 point seasons. Tough to tank when you're making the Playoffs.
  20. Been mentioned a couple of times - they really need to work on zone entry. They stat with Suter slowly skating puck to short of the Red Line then a big drop pass back to a trailer. So there's a huge clusterpuck of guys standing around on the opposing team's Blue Line by the time the puck gets there.. Wild players lose their speed, just standing around. MN puck carrier runs into a wall, no one to pass to, no Wild player moving with any speed... Puck ends up dumped back into MN zone and PUKE, do it again! If you are going to dump the puck in, which you might have to do if the other team keeps lining four guys along the Blue Line, someone, some Wild player, has to be hitting the zone with speed, not standing there, dragging a toe, trying not to be offsides...
  21. I'd love to bet some big money that the Wild finish higher than Chi. Toews is screwed. No way he can carry the Black Hawks. Their roster is full of dead weight. Keith and Seabrook are shadows of their former selves. Other Dmen really weak. Early season success a fluke.
  22. No chit they're not a Cup Contender. Struggle in the post season? Right now the post season looks like a wet dream. First two games would have been blow outs if Doobie hadn't stood on his head. And one thing I think we can count on is no way in hell he can keep doing that for 60+ games. Is this really a "good team"? First two games they definitely were far from good.
  23. I thought maybe all the people who advocated for tanking and a rebuild would offer up some ideas. Other than Illa looks like most people want to be there but don't have any ideas on how to get there. Here are my steps to tearing it down. First, obviously have a fire sale. 1. Tell Big E. that he's not in the team's future plans. He's an UFA next year. Tell him to put his agent to work. Simultaneously start actively shopping him. Since he's getting old and will want decent money with some term his value is reduced but take whatever you can get. 2. Give away Nino and Coyle to the first team that offers up a 1st rounder. Maybe get a couple mid round 1st's. 2. Same for Brodin. Take whatever is offered. 3. Trade Spurgie ASAP. The little guy is little but he's a very good hockey player, there has to be GM's who would happily add him to their Blue Line. 1st rounder and a prospect. 4. Take offers on MiG. Obviously the team's best offensive force but don't give him away. 5. Trade BB's contract if possible. Don't think its ever been done, but I've never heard of a rule forbidding it. Or buy him out... 6. Give the #1 sheep a 10% rebate effective next season for all current season ticket money. Everything available except for Dumba and Zucker due to their long term contracts and the old guys we're stuck with long term.
  24. Great idea - go hire the previous clowns that ran the Edm or Van organizations! They know how to puck it up! Hey! I think Garth Snow is available!!!
  25. But wouldn't keeping Big E. garner more points? Move your team farther away from a very high Pick. I do think Coyle does have decent value around the league. But apparently Fenton couldn't find any takers this off season. I think it was clear they'd trade either Coyle or Nino for the right price. And if you're going to rebuild, it's a given you're looking for Picks and younger players. Even if you get rid of several important players for the Wild, this isn't a horrible orster, they're still going towin too many games to sink into the, say, the Bottom 5 IMO. And definitely fire BB. The guy has proven he knows how to get teams to win regular season games, he wouldn't help any tanking scheme.
