  1. Are these boards still alive?   When I flushed it because it was full of HATE HATE HATE conspiracy theory garbage it seemed like a handful of obnoxious posters had killed it.  Hopefully they are gone.

As a Wild fan and an NHL fan, scratching Parise was over the top crazy stupid.   Evanson was a dud grinder in his playing career, that seems to be about his level as a coach by scratching Parise.

Still hoping Guerin pulls off a deal(s) that upgrades one or miraculously both top 2 center slots.

    *POOOOF*

Guerin has granted your wish!   Meet the Wild's two new Top 2 Centers:

    Bjugstad and M. Johanssen

    🤣

So, Koivu decided to retire. I feel frustrated by how it went for him. He could have been a Selke winning centre in a Stanley Cup team. Instead he ended up as a Wild poster boy, a pretender 1C when his team lacked a true 1C. All the best for him, though. He ended up in a difficult situation. Earlier he could have solved the dilemma by asking to be traded. Not an easy thing to do.

I agree.  It wasn't his fault the Wild grossly over-paid and over-hyped him.

If we now trade Dumba for Monahan we can rename Minnesota Wild as Minnesota Reclamation Project. Jokes aside, I can live with this. Now we really need a 1C, and if acquiring one fails, we're rebuilding, no matter what the owner thinks.

I would LOVE to see the Wild get Monahan for Dumba!

As far as Big E. for the soft, underperforming, underwhelming M. Johanssen.  Meh.   Good deal for Buff adding an experienced, classy Vet with a very reasonable contract.    Johannsen is just another warm body to fill a sweater until the Wild finds some real players.  Just some change for the sake of change.

Honest to God.....The same old geriatrics on the ice an awful lot.  I was praying the Klyde would have some complications and not suit up for many games so that they could find a 2C  to no avail, I see that tractor lumbering around the ice while Suter eats up ridiculous uninspired minutes.  Hard to watch and look forward to A FUTURE

Here's an idea - DON'T WATCH, just go away and find another team to whine and bidtch about.

  6. I don't know if he'll be a decent GM but Bill Guerin was one of my favorite players back in the day.  Had an all time great play in an All Time great game.   Probably my second favorite game of all time - US vs Canada in 1996 World Championships.  The US had a really, really great team.  Guerin dropped the gloves and went after Keith Primeau.   Beat the hell out of him in my memory.  Then Keith Tkachuk beat the hell out of Claude Lemieux.  I"ve often thought about looking for a tape of that game!  And when Lemaire's NJD team won the Cup Guerin was a key guy.  I hope he becomes as good a GM as he was a player.  Old school Power Forward.  Was also a big time leader for the player's Union back in the day.

  7. I've researched exWild players many times.  Crazy that so much time has passed since we were trying to guess who would be the first Wild Captain.

Here's an exWild player who I thought turned out to be an above average defenseman - Andy Sutton.  Huge and super raw.  Lemaire played him at forward and D but Risebrough traded him too early.  Was pretty good for Nashville.  I don't remember if you mentioned them but Joel Ward and the defenseman Michalek went on to have good careers after a cup of coffee with the Wild.  I'd say Nick Leddy would also be on the list of players mistakenly traded.  IMO good chance Tuch will turn out to be the biggest Eff Up, along with losing Gaborik as an UFA.

Hard to really start arguing about the players you selected. That's a well constructed  group.

On the top of my head I'll say: Devin Setoguchi. I don't think the Wild got what they wanted out of him or just couldn't find a role for him. He WAS in his prime, 24 years old and having scored 73 goals combined in the three previous seasons when joining the Wild. But nothing would come of it. He should've been a top 6 forward for a few years. But I guess since he failed after that elsewhere too his years with the Sharks were more or less a fluke.

Setoguchi  was fighting a raging alcohol problem.   That sad story came out a long time ago.

You all apparently have a very different idea of what constitutes a "Star" or "Star Talent."

  9. Maybe.  Rask was playing hurt last year.  Obviously he's no PMB Peggy Fleming but a couple years ago he was a decent player.  Three years ago, I think, I watched a Carolina game and he was one of their better players.  He could easily turn into a solid 3rd Line Center IMO.  And I like the Hartman signing.  Chicago hoped for a lot more from him, like being a 2nd Liner.  But he's not that good.  As a 4th Liner he's going to be a stud.  Very similar to the not-Nick Foligno.  Big, tough, physical with decent skills.

Everyone’s wetting their pants over Zuccarello, but last I saw according to CapFriendly he was going to clock in at around $6+M/5 years and a NMC.

Which also means Fenton has to protect him in the Seattle Expansion Draft.

I read this and thought it was nuts!  Look at his history.  He's dinky and getting old.  A GM would have to be crazy to sign him for 5 years per at $6 mil.   Any GM who'd offer that ridiculous deal should definitely be fired!   😠

😆   Kidding aside - IMO a horrendous signing!

I'm convinced with Fiala it's what you see is what you'll get.

What I saw last year was an occasional nifty, wow play, that rarely led to anything, along with a steady diet of giveaways.  Not sure how good he is defensively, because I never saw him defending...

New GM is nuts if he gives him more than 2 years at $3 mil per.  IMO Best Case Fiala isn't going to equal MiG.

Russo reported on both of those situations.  Nelson didn't have to re-sign with the Islanders, but he obviously did...so doesn't his actions speak for themselves?  You'd think if he REALLY wanted to be here...he could've done so.

Right, like I posted, not unreasonable to draw that conclusion based on the fact he re-signed with the Islanders.  My point is, did Fenton or anyone in the organization show him some love?  Actually tried to convince him to come home?  My guess is they didn't.

Yes and no.  Brock Nelson WAS interested in the Wild at one point in time, then took a look at the roster and decided to stay with the Islanders.  The Wild wanted him, but Brock didn't like what he saw.  Just like Kessel didn't like what he saw...

Source?  Other than the general open source media rumors, that said it was Nelson who said No.  You could assume that because he didn't even wait to become an UFA, but I haven't seen anything that says credibly what Fenton and the Wild organization really said to him.   Did we really know they even met at all?

  14. To answer the thread title/Question - Yes, I am sure Fenton is a train wreck after the Zuccarrello UFA signing.    To even consider Kessell for Zucker blows my mind.  Now he signs a very small, soft, no defense aging Euro to a big, long term contract.   Just what the club needs!    🙄    We could have had Brock Nelson for what Fenton is paying this guy!

  15. I'll keep checking back every few weeks hoping for intelligent conversation, opinions, and obserbations but since the home grown Hater Trolls killed the official Wild boards...  I have very little confidence it'll be worthwhile here, either.  Have fun Hating...

The team even said it wanted to be faster and younger.  I guess they just settled for younger.  Boldy may not be a slow player...but not being fast just makes me concerned how effective he'll be.  He might be able to rip apart the USHL in part because that team was so freakin' loaded.  I think we'll find out who were the drivers and those who were lucky to be there for the ride real soon as these players go and play on different clubs.

Didn't matter who the Wild drafted, you'd find a reason to be negative.  No matter if the reason was just more irrational hate, you'd be all in, no matter what the professionals who have no link to the Wild would say.  Call me a Homer all you want, I've got literally 20 years of posting history to prove that's BS, but I have to say I feel sorry for you Haters.  Claiming to be fans but posting chit that proves you're worse than Nuck trolls.
