  1. How many posts did the Flyers hit last night? Like 4 or 5? I don't recall that many in a game before.
  2. To me, unless they go all in before 28 and 93 are too old (if that hasn't already happened) and sign some big name(s) they go with status quo. Take your lumps this year with the kids. Play 53 with 9 like a few years ago FWIW and perhaps trade away 53 at the trade deadline. At worst I think you could still get a 2nd rounder at the deadline if not more. Focus on the best possible outcome for the expansion draft ensuring 5, 6, 11, and potentially 19 get the contracts they need. Since 28 and 93 haven't lead them to a cup I don't think you can go all in especially with the uncertainty of 23 and 19 - hence my opinion of just going with what they have. Lot's of players are getting one year deals so perhaps sign a 3/4 line center to a one year deal and if not, and if 23 can't play, go with some combo of 21 or 48 or 82 as C3 and C4. I'd rather be competitive in the 21/22 season and the next 5 or 6 or 7 when our D and Hart are peaking then hamstring themselves this summer...oopps mean this fall with a big signing.
  3. Yep (Originally Toronto)! And its 31 here today for all those Canadians in celsius.
  4. I'm thankful of where we are now. I know I don't post much. But when I do, I prefer hockeyforums.
  5. I thought we would have had the 10th pick after losing to the Canes in OT. Either way I haven't followed potential draft order that closely. I am hoping the best available player has either NHL goal scoring winger or 1c potential versus a defenseman or goalie (not that goalies often go that high in drafts).
  6. Flip a coin. I started to write that I take Weber more but then thinking of the 10 year contract...
  7. @Bertmega - in the days of flame wars I applaud you for owning up to see another's point. Things like that make this board better than others.
  8. Sorry I haven't read through this whole thread - has "cop a feel" been used yet to describe the incident?
  9. Mueller, who is not mentioned above, is very interesting. He put up some good numbers before some severe concussion issues. I don't think they can take a gamble with their limited cap space but if VLC is moved....
  10. If they traded B Schenn for an impact dman then they could have slotted VLC in a 2C and not needed B. Richards. To me this is easier since VLC seems hard to move as one would suspect.
  11. There are a few names out there that are interesting. Del Zotto jumps out at me the most - more for his supposed potential rather than his recent play which I understand (not from watching first hand though) is not up to his potential.
  12. @AJgoal - I have to agree with you there. Of the names mentioned I would have to believe each was still looking for that chance that maybe, just maybe, they had a chance to start. While that *could* have been the case here chances are it would not have not with a younger now "established" #1.
  13. I have to think the other goalies did not have an interest coming here. At last that is what I hope.
  14. Man how bad must they think Heater is to have to pass him up for Zepp?
  15. Yeah I'd rather have Kimmo for $2m at 40 than Robidas at 40 for $3m.
  16. I agree on letting Bolland go - don't know what the Panthers were thinking. Komorov should be good for them but I scratch my head on Robidas. Maybe if it was only a 1 year deal - maybe.
  17. Congrats. Looks like Nathan has the size for a d man Hextall is looking for but he might just be a bit young.
  18. I would be ok with this until I saw the salary cap for this year. So getting a pick or two and not getting any salary back (even perhaps retaining some of VLC's salary which I understand does not count against the cap) would be fine with me.
  19. @ jammer2 - I am pretty sure the coverage is the same. In the US it was through NBC sports network and then coverage resumed on the Hockey network. But it was covered with the same TSN based crew. Either way.. I didn't realize Gord Murphy coached him in the U-18. That had to provide a lot of value to the overall scouting report.
  20. I don't mind taking another dman. In today's NHL you can never have enough dman in the stables. Everything said about him on TV make him sound like he has blue chip qualities except for the fact he was off everybody's radar until this year. I worry about being off the radar - either way I certainly am not disappointed.
  21. What if Hextall had been here last summer? If I have the timing right he was hired after Streit and VLC were signed. I normally don't like conjecture and what if's but I was thinking about what he has done and has been rumoured to be doing on the trade front. I don't believe Streit and VLC would have been signed. Without Streit and VLC's 20 goals the Flyers may not have made the playoffs meaning their draft pick would have been higher. Perhaps they make a trade deadline deal sending Kimmo to a contender for another 2nd rounder and a prospect? Perhaps they then go after Niskanen and Benoit Pouliot this year with all the cap space from not having Streit, Kimmo and VLC. Maybe they sit for another year without making any big name FA signings and then target Bobby Ryan who I believe is a FA in the summer of 2015. Either way, I guess my point is it is too bad he wasn't with the Flyers last year right after the compliance buyouts to give him more flexibility building "his" team. The Flyers might have been in a much better position for the future. I guess better late than never.
  22. @ Vanflyer - you had me until you wanted to use Read as trade bait. He has a pretty good cap hit for a 20 goal scorer who plays a lot in all situations. Unless he lands a home run I would not move him. I am biased as he is one of my fave flyers though.
