  1. After the comments in the exit interview that Provorov gave I think I would rather see him go over Sanheim. Provorov has been given the opportunity to stand as that D1 line guy and he is not that guy. Like you stated @Lindbergh31he has regressed and in my opinion is no more than a 2nd pairing D. Now he might be able to be carried by someone like Ellis on the top pairing, but that remains to be seen. Sanheim, I think has more potential and if Ellis is able to be that top pairing guy then Sanheim regardless if Provorov is gone or not should be paired with him, but that won't happen. So I say keep Sanheim over Provorov.
  2. I think @TropicalFruitGirl26 makes great points in the above post. There are the obvious reasons why teams fire or let go of the head coach and those can be seen by the performance that is shown on the ice, but there are also the more unknown reasons as well. Those reasons that make us as fans think a little harder why did this head coach get fired? Some of these head coaches recently like Trotz, DeBoer, Bowness, and Cassidy have been pretty successful over the years. Are there other reasons why they have been let go? Do some just want to step away from coaching for a year or two? Was there some sort of strife between the coach and front office or players? Or could it be the team just wants to go in another direction? Another good point brought up is the fact that there are many other coaches out there without the huge resumes that a Trotz or Torts have that might just be a great fit for one of these teams and you never know that person could become the next Jon Cooper. Everyone of these head coaches had to start out somewhere and as an unknown or without a huge resume. It will be really interesting to see what happens with all of these vacancies and coaches vying for jobs and where they land. I would imagine all of this would have to be in place before the draft in July which is approaching fast.
  3. Not sure if you are being sarcastic, but he was on the team. Makar was born in 1998 and this happen in 2018.
  4. The main thing is there is no place for any of these players in the league. Cale Makar if and that is a big if he was even involved in this would be the highest profiled player, but there is also Carter Hart, Jordan Kyrou, Robert Thomas, Max Comtois, and Sam Steele. I know the others aren't at the level of Makar and there is a possibility that not a single one of them were even involved in this mess , but there are 8 players on that team that were and they are playing some sort of hockey and they shouldn't be.
  5. Stemming from the 2017-18 U20 World Junior Team, Hockey Canada has settled with a women on a sexual assault case that involved 8 players from the CHL and Hockey Canada. The woman was seeking $3.55 million in damages, including pain and suffering. Even though this civil suit has been settled , the case is being investigated further which means the players involved which some could be high profile NHL players now if you look at that roster from back then. In my personal opinion if these players whomever they are are found to be involved in this sickening situation they should be immediately kicked out of hockey. I don't care what caliber of player they are. There is no place for a player in the game that would do something like that.
  6. I say why not. He has been a successful head coach in the NHL and even though that really hasn't turned into much success in the playoffs over his tenure he did take the Boston Bruins to the Eastern Confernce Championship in the 2018-19 season.
  7. Yep exactly. They were stoned by the Avs goalie and that is why they are moving a little slow and lethargic at the moment. Maybe at the period break they will go in and all get the munchies and eat some chocolate and get more energy for the next period ahead.
  8. Another Head Coach candidate for the Philadelphia Flyers to interview. Or shall I say another good head coach candidate to turn down the Philadelphia Flyers.
  9. I have no doubt that the Oilers can score on the Avalanche. I have all the doubt in the world that Mike Smith and the Oilers defence can slow down the Avalanche offense. The key here if the Oilers will survive to live another game is Mike Smith needs to limit the amount of soft goals he lets in. Francouz has been playing pretty well in place of Kuemper, but I also think that the Avs D is a bit better than the Oilers so that makes a difference there. I hope Connor McDavid and a hobbling Leon Drasaitl can put it together with Hyman & Nugent Hopkins to get the series back to Colorado basically to just have more hockey in the series. My prediction for tonight's game is 5-4 Oilers. ** Also Colorado has not lost a road game this entire playoffs. **
  10. I agree with that. What it takes to become an owner of a hockey team or any other sports team is tons of money and supposedly some sort of business sense. That is about it. I have a lot of friends with business degrees , but not that kind of money.
  11. I have to disagree. You mean players like McDavid, Matthews, Makar, MacKinnon, or Drasaitl when it comes time for them to get a salary raised they don't have the upper hand? If they don't get what they want they just go somewhere else and it the $$$$$$ that they want from another owner that is willing to pay them.
  12. Players know they are what fills the seats. They are the attraction. These players in sports not only in Hockey in my opinion should get paid what they are worth because if you think about it once you get to that top level the percentage of players that can play at that level and can entertain the fans at that level is not that high. If everyone could do it then the salaries would not be that high. Only a small percentage of very talented athletes can play at that high level so they should get paid at a high level. The players know this.
  13. Bergeron is a Selke monster and the award is well deserved.
  14. The next sentence in that post states , I don't know if that will happen or not. Also the word players should actually be playoffs. So what I am actually saying is in responding to your original post to me is signing JG is I really don't know for sure and really no one knows in getting him and adding him to this current team how he will improve the team. Will he even make them a playoff team at all? With him could they make a long run into the playoffs? No one really knows. A lot of other things would have to happen including many other players stepping up.
