  1. After the comments in the exit interview that Provorov gave I think I would rather see him go over Sanheim. Provorov has been given the opportunity to stand as that D1 line guy and he is not that guy. Like you stated @Lindbergh31he has regressed and in my opinion is no more than a 2nd pairing D. Now he might be able to be carried by someone like Ellis on the top pairing, but that remains to be seen. Sanheim, I think has more potential and if Ellis is able to be that top pairing guy then Sanheim regardless if Provorov is gone or not should be paired with him, but that won't happen. So I say keep Sanheim over Provorov.
  2. I think @TropicalFruitGirl26 makes great points in the above post. There are the obvious reasons why teams fire or let go of the head coach and those can be seen by the performance that is shown on the ice, but there are also the more unknown reasons as well. Those reasons that make us as fans think a little harder why did this head coach get fired? Some of these head coaches recently like Trotz, DeBoer, Bowness, and Cassidy have been pretty successful over the years. Are there other reasons why they have been let go? Do some just want to step away from coaching for a year or two? Was there some sort of strife between the coach and front office or players? Or could it be the team just wants to go in another direction? Another good point brought up is the fact that there are many other coaches out there without the huge resumes that a Trotz or Torts have that might just be a great fit for one of these teams and you never know that person could become the next Jon Cooper. Everyone of these head coaches had to start out somewhere and as an unknown or without a huge resume. It will be really interesting to see what happens with all of these vacancies and coaches vying for jobs and where they land. I would imagine all of this would have to be in place before the draft in July which is approaching fast.
  3. Not sure if you are being sarcastic, but he was on the team. Makar was born in 1998 and this happen in 2018.
  4. The main thing is there is no place for any of these players in the league. Cale Makar if and that is a big if he was even involved in this would be the highest profiled player, but there is also Carter Hart, Jordan Kyrou, Robert Thomas, Max Comtois, and Sam Steele. I know the others aren't at the level of Makar and there is a possibility that not a single one of them were even involved in this mess , but there are 8 players on that team that were and they are playing some sort of hockey and they shouldn't be.
  5. Stemming from the 2017-18 U20 World Junior Team, Hockey Canada has settled with a women on a sexual assault case that involved 8 players from the CHL and Hockey Canada. The woman was seeking $3.55 million in damages, including pain and suffering. Even though this civil suit has been settled , the case is being investigated further which means the players involved which some could be high profile NHL players now if you look at that roster from back then. In my personal opinion if these players whomever they are are found to be involved in this sickening situation they should be immediately kicked out of hockey. I don't care what caliber of player they are. There is no place for a player in the game that would do something like that.
  6. I say why not. He has been a successful head coach in the NHL and even though that really hasn't turned into much success in the playoffs over his tenure he did take the Boston Bruins to the Eastern Confernce Championship in the 2018-19 season.
  7. Yep exactly. They were stoned by the Avs goalie and that is why they are moving a little slow and lethargic at the moment. Maybe at the period break they will go in and all get the munchies and eat some chocolate and get more energy for the next period ahead.
  8. Another Head Coach candidate for the Philadelphia Flyers to interview. Or shall I say another good head coach candidate to turn down the Philadelphia Flyers.
  9. I have no doubt that the Oilers can score on the Avalanche. I have all the doubt in the world that Mike Smith and the Oilers defence can slow down the Avalanche offense. The key here if the Oilers will survive to live another game is Mike Smith needs to limit the amount of soft goals he lets in. Francouz has been playing pretty well in place of Kuemper, but I also think that the Avs D is a bit better than the Oilers so that makes a difference there. I hope Connor McDavid and a hobbling Leon Drasaitl can put it together with Hyman & Nugent Hopkins to get the series back to Colorado basically to just have more hockey in the series. My prediction for tonight's game is 5-4 Oilers. ** Also Colorado has not lost a road game this entire playoffs. **
  10. I agree with that. What it takes to become an owner of a hockey team or any other sports team is tons of money and supposedly some sort of business sense. That is about it. I have a lot of friends with business degrees , but not that kind of money.
  11. I have to disagree. You mean players like McDavid, Matthews, Makar, MacKinnon, or Drasaitl when it comes time for them to get a salary raised they don't have the upper hand? If they don't get what they want they just go somewhere else and it the $$$$$$ that they want from another owner that is willing to pay them.
  12. Players know they are what fills the seats. They are the attraction. These players in sports not only in Hockey in my opinion should get paid what they are worth because if you think about it once you get to that top level the percentage of players that can play at that level and can entertain the fans at that level is not that high. If everyone could do it then the salaries would not be that high. Only a small percentage of very talented athletes can play at that high level so they should get paid at a high level. The players know this.
  13. Bergeron is a Selke monster and the award is well deserved.
  14. The next sentence in that post states , I don't know if that will happen or not. Also the word players should actually be playoffs. So what I am actually saying is in responding to your original post to me is signing JG is I really don't know for sure and really no one knows in getting him and adding him to this current team how he will improve the team. Will he even make them a playoff team at all? With him could they make a long run into the playoffs? No one really knows. A lot of other things would have to happen including many other players stepping up.
  15. I do see improvement from players like Couturier, Tippet, Farabee, Sanheim, York, Frost, Cates and if they use Lindblom correctly he will utilize he skills much better. Then players like Foerster, Laczynski, and Allison could even pitch in. Attard could also be a piece to all of this as could the health of Ryan Ellis. Johnny Hockey could most certainly become the franchise player this Flyers team desperately needs, but like we both have said many other players need to improve as well. I would love that to happen but I have to think realistically. We as Flyers fans have had this mentality with the likes of Konecny and Provorov and they have all but leveled off. I am not saying in any way that Bedard or any other top draftee in the 2023 draft is the magical answer as well, but it is a much younger option and one that can be developed from the beginning in the Flyers organization. I am not 100% sure what is the best scenario to go. I have always been of the mindset that a team that is young and develops together does really well.
  16. The thought of having JG get the Flyers to the players and an exit in the 1st round is the best scenario situation. I don't know if that would happen or not. Yes, JG would be exciting to have on the Flyers but for what cost. The moves they would have to make first before they even attempt to sign him would then also leave them having to fill a few other holes along the way. Then what do they do about that? As a fan I don't want to see them keep on losing, but I also see what is available in next years draft and that is very exciting. So really one more year of this mess and getting a younger franchise player than what JG would be and if it would somehow turn out to be Bedard even better. I would still suffer through the games no matter if they are losing or winning because I feel that is what a fan does with the team they follow. Hell, last season was awful and I made it through that.
  17. Here is something that has been floating around in my mind about Johnny Gaudreau possibly coming to the Flyers. First, my thinking is what has to get done before the fact of even the possibility of signing JG because the Flyers are so up against the wall with the salary cap. Then I thought what if this is made possible and the team improves to the point that they make the playoffs the following year. In my thinking, I don't believe that one superstar with the remainder of this Flyers team would get this team any more than a loss in the 1st round of the playoff. Hell, the Flames are a much better club and they almost went out in the 1st round with JG to Dallas this season and then they did fall to Edmonton. So would it be better not to sign a guy like Gaudreau and suck terribly this upcoming season and deal with it? Have the best chance at the #1 draft pick next season in Connor Bedard and hope the Flyers are not screwed by the New Jersey Devils in the Draft Lottery. I don't like the idea of having to watch the team suck again next season, but the chance of getting a franchise player in Bedard excited the hell out of me way more than signing Gaudreau for tons of money and getting to the 1st round of the playoffs and going down. I am wondering if anyone else has that same mindset as me?
  18. 100% Evander Kane should get suspended. What he did is the most dangerous play in hockey and could have resulted in a serious head or neck injury. I believe Kane should be suspended for the rest of the Colorado series as it at least that is what Kadri will miss. Is that what the Department of Player Safety will do, most likely not. They probably won't even give Kane a 1 game suspension.
  19. The Oilers really have to hope that Pavel Francouz is not the same goalie as he was in Game 2. Mike Smith will most likely allow a few goals in the net which means McDavid, Draisaitl, Kane, Hyman, Nugent Hopkins, and the others will have to keep pace. For the Oilers to win this game tonight I think it is going to have to be a shootout and being on home ice they will come out on top of this one. Maybe a 6-5 type of win for the Oilers tonight. If Francouz shuts the Oilers offense down that will be the end of the Oilers and they will most likely go down in a sweep.
  20. Goalies can have bad games. Shesterkin had them in the 1st Round against the Penguins. Vasilevskiy is not at his best right now. Yes, the Rangers skaters have overall outplayed the Lightning players. Just look at the last evenings game where Fox definitely outshined Hedman who is supposed to be the top D-Man in the NHL. Fox had a brilliant all around game last evening. The Rangers are also receiving production up and down the lineup. It seems like everyone is joining in getting points. When a team like the Lightning can focus on shutting down a player like Panarin or Zibanejad and several others step up it becomes extremely difficult to come out on top.
  21. There are two scenarios floating around in my head right now concerning the free agent market and what the Philadelphia Flyers have to do. One major concern in all of this is the limited amount of slary cap they have to work with which is going to make things difficult for them to sign a hig price tag player unless other things get done involving JVR, Hayes, Konecny and possibly Laughton. The next thing is what top priced talent would want to come to the Flyers who say they are going to be retooling , but honestly with what they have it is more likely this is a rebuild. The next thing is this team really does not have that team identity player which most teams have. When you think of the Edmonton Oilers you immediately think of Connor McDavid. When you think of the Toronto Maple Leafs you think of Auston Matthews. In Philadelphia we have Sean Couturier and although he is a very good player he is not the type of player that is the identity of the franchise. So then should the Flyers go out and get that sort of player that is going to get the fan base all excited? With that sort of player which is hard to come by and whether it is Johnny Gaudreau or someone else it comes with a high price tag which if you look at what I was saying earlier could be a problem for the Flyers. Then I am thinking should they try and unload JVR, Hayes and sign some middle type Free agents like Nick Paul, Evan Rodrigues, Tyler Motte, Valeri Nichushkin, Troy Shecher and those types of players? Regardless what the Flyers do it is going to be one hell of an off season. Not only with hiring a head coach which is the first thing they have to do, but starting to rework this team from what was a disaster last season to what hopes to be at least somewhat better in 2022-23.
  22. Oh that Old Forester. He isn't even old enough to drink it.
  23. At 20 years old? Is that because he has an old school hockey mentality when on the ice or is it because he plays like he is old?
