  1. @trevluk I feel your frustration, but I definitely care that they won. Isn't that the point of all this?
  2. Nice pics, thanks for posting. Hexy is still the man
  3. I'm not sure what this guy said or didn't say before the incident, but Ranger fans from my experience are the biggest assholes in the league when they come to town. Like the three young ladies and their old guy companion sitting in back of me Monday in section 243, who started in with the "Flyers suck" and "WHERE'S your GOAL-ie" chants and mocking the people around them before the game even started. For some reason they were in folding chairs in a handicapped spot next to a uniformed Philly cop. Come to the game, cheer for your team, but don't be a d!ck. When I go to road game I respect the house I'm in. I hate the Rangers and I hate their f**king fans, so excuse me if I'm not all broken up that a (maybe) innocent Ranger fan took a beating that so many of his fellow fans deserve.
  4. Kinda makes you wonder why they didn't schedule yesterday and tomorrow's events for 3 pm to begin with. Bettman's taking his own "reality show" comment a little too literally, let's call it a 1 pm start then change it to show how innovative and flexible we are.....any reasons for moving the start time would have been known months ago, ie the sun goes behind the stadium at the same time every January 2nd. At 40 degrees farenheit, which has been the forecast for a week now, the air temperature isn't an issue. Stop with the last second dramatics on decision that was obviously made long before this afternoon's announcement
  5. @blocker We were pretty high up but the sightlines weren't all that bad.... not saying I wouldn't have liked closer seats, but it was manageable. I was really proud of the turnout, 45k showing up for an alumni game is amazing. For me, just to be able to chant "Ber-nie Ber-nie" one last time was worth the trip. Class move by Duguay to put that shot in Bernie's pads. LCB and Kelly and O, a good mix of guys from the 80s and 90s, really couldn't have asked for a better day
  6. @flyercanuck Thanks! And indeed, the brainwashing is ongoing and constant!
  7. @flyercanuck Yeah I was a little surprised this sold out, STH had to buy this game to get Monday's game but that only accounts for 18k tix (according to the Flyers). Selling another 22-26k tix for an alumni game is awesome, people obviously really wanted to be a part of this. Taking my pre-teen daughter today, should be alot of fun
  8. JFC I can't believe I typed alumin instead of alumni....
  9. Now 3 PM.... IMPORTANT INFORMATION! 10. How to play for your teammates, and not for the stats or your own personal safety -Written collectively by the Philadephia Eagles Foreword by DeSean Jackson and Asante Samuel
  11. Agreed. I'd love to see 88 hammer that cheap shot little prik. In a "friendly" game like this you generally don't go after guys' knees, so Kasparitus has lost 75% of his game right there
  12. The Rags will always be #1 on my sh!t list. Between 73 and 87 they met in the playoffs 8 or 9 times, brutal series' and that '86 upset in a 5 game series, that kinda hate never fades
  13. As seen from section 28, last row up. Long live the Spectrum!!! 1-1987 Final Game 6 vs Edmonton. I couldn't describe it, it was like a dream. Youtube it. 2-1987 Semi-Final Game 6 vs Quebec. Poulin's 5 on 3 shorthanded breakaway goal off his own great steal near the defensive blueline. Wow. 3- 1987 (it was a very good year) Quarterfinal Game 7 vs NY Islanders. Poulin has busted ribs but gets shot up with novocaine (according to legend), hits everything in sight and goes after every loose puck, Flyers pepper Kelly Hrudey for a 3-zip lead. Poulin leaves after the first and doesn't return, if I remember correctly. 4-1978ish regular season vs Cleveland Barons. I'm 11 at the time, started feeling sick on the car ride up, puked in the Spectrum parking lot (as would happen pre-concert in the future, more than once). Somehow convinced Dad I was ok and we should go in. Wildest bench clearing brawl I ever witnessed, I swear I remember Dave Hoyda banging a guy's head against an exposed goal peg 5-1995 Quarterfinals vs the Rangers Games 1 and 2. Two OT wins to start the series, after 5 years out of the playoffs, we're back bitches!!! In the new building..... 1- 2004 Game 6 vs Tampa. My then 11 year old son was just really getting into hockey, late 3rd period it looks he's about to experience his first heartbreaker in person. I'm trying to figure out something sage to say to him for the walk to the car, then Primeau ties it, put the team on his back and willed the tying goal. Gagne in OT. Instead he got to see a playoff win the fans will always talk about. 2-2000 Game 7 vs the Devils. When Stevens laid Lindros out, I knew the series and his career were both over. I was a little wrong about the career, but but he never wore O&B again.
  14. I'm glad for a game, but JFC the Canes again? This is game #3 against Carolina, before we've played the Rags Isles or Punkguins even once? Rant over....
  15. Wow I just popped over there, it's Buffalo Rick's playground now, his unholy alliance with the Toronto trolls is complete. What a mess
  16. Damn canoli, you're a hot chick
  17. Belated welcome MKD! Always good to have the perspective of posters from outside North America
  18. Interesting....for the last 35 years my understanding of penalty shot rules was that the player had to keep moving toward the net, the rule they're citing says it's the puck that must keep moving. So in that case I agree with the ruling of good goal, at the time I really thought it should have been disallowed. Learn something new every day...
  19. Well I can tell you this much, it was painful watching the Rags wins a Cup after losing out on the Lindros sweepstakes, and watching the Avs take some of that depth we traded them and winning their own Cup a few years later. So in the end the Flyers appear to be the loser....but I can't say for certain the Flyboys would have won a Cup without the trade being made. Roy was the key to the Avs first Cup, if he hadn't had that falling out with Habs management (demanded a trade after coach failed to pull him from a game in which he got shelled for 7 or 8 goals) the Avs may not have won it all. Agree that Hextall is the X factor in any analysis of would the Flyers have won a Cup, he never recaptured the form of his rookie season, and frankly looked lost in a Nordique then an Islander uniform.
  20. phlfly - If you're scouting for tickets, be aware that sight lines outdoors are going to be much different than inside. With the relative distance from the stands to the ice, lower level seats probably provide the worst sight lines in the house. Best seats possible would be behind home plate in the 300 level....which of course all went the corporate boxholders right out of the chute
  21. In all seriousness, I like a tough guy on the team, a policeman to put fear into the opponent and keep them from taking cheap shots at the skill players. Like Schultz to Clarkie, Brown to the 80's teams. But in today's NHL that guy has to be able to play the game, and Shelley clearly can't. His salary is a waste of cap space, and his presence is a waste of a roster spot
  22. He's a really great presence during the playoffs....in the press box!
  23. What's up Hexy I bought my tix through the STH sale, Alumini game cost me $45 each in section 304, Phantoms game was $18 apiece in section 304.....plus fees of course
