I'm not sure what this guy said or didn't say before the incident, but Ranger fans from my experience are the biggest assholes in the league when they come to town. Like the three young ladies and their old guy companion sitting in back of me Monday in section 243, who started in with the "Flyers suck" and "WHERE'S your GOAL-ie" chants and mocking the people around them before the game even started. For some reason they were in folding chairs in a handicapped spot next to a uniformed Philly cop. Come to the game, cheer for your team, but don't be a d!ck. When I go to road game I respect the house I'm in. I hate the Rangers and I hate their f**king fans, so excuse me if I'm not all broken up that a (maybe) innocent Ranger fan took a beating that so many of his fellow fans deserve.

Kinda makes you wonder why they didn't schedule yesterday and tomorrow's events for 3 pm to begin with. Bettman's taking his own "reality show" comment a little too literally, let's call it a 1 pm start then change it to show how innovative and flexible we are.....any reasons for moving the start time would have been known months ago, ie the sun goes behind the stadium at the same time every January 2nd. At 40 degrees farenheit, which has been the forecast for a week now, the air temperature isn't an issue. Stop with the last second dramatics on decision that was obviously made long before this afternoon's announcement

@blocker We were pretty high up but the sightlines weren't all that bad.... not saying I wouldn't have liked closer seats, but it was manageable. I was really proud of the turnout, 45k showing up for an alumni game is amazing. For me, just to be able to chant "Ber-nie Ber-nie" one last time was worth the trip. Class move by Duguay to put that shot in Bernie's pads. LCB and Kelly and O, a good mix of guys from the 80s and 90s, really couldn't have asked for a better day

@flyercanuck Yeah I was a little surprised this sold out, STH had to buy this game to get Monday's game but that only accounts for 18k tix (according to the Flyers). Selling another 22-26k tix for an alumni game is awesome, people obviously really wanted to be a part of this. Taking my pre-teen daughter today, should be alot of fun

The Rags will always be #1 on my sh!t list. Between 73 and 87 they met in the playoffs 8 or 9 times, brutal series' and that '86 upset in a 5 game series, that kinda hate never fades

Interesting....for the last 35 years my understanding of penalty shot rules was that the player had to keep moving toward the net, the rule they're citing says it's the puck that must keep moving. So in that case I agree with the ruling of good goal, at the time I really thought it should have been disallowed. Learn something new every day...

Well I can tell you this much, it was painful watching the Rags wins a Cup after losing out on the Lindros sweepstakes, and watching the Avs take some of that depth we traded them and winning their own Cup a few years later. So in the end the Flyers appear to be the loser....but I can't say for certain the Flyboys would have won a Cup without the trade being made. Roy was the key to the Avs first Cup, if he hadn't had that falling out with Habs management (demanded a trade after coach failed to pull him from a game in which he got shelled for 7 or 8 goals) the Avs may not have won it all. Agree that Hextall is the X factor in any analysis of would the Flyers have won a Cup, he never recaptured the form of his rookie season, and frankly looked lost in a Nordique then an Islander uniform.

phlfly - If you're scouting for tickets, be aware that sight lines outdoors are going to be much different than inside. With the relative distance from the stands to the ice, lower level seats probably provide the worst sight lines in the house. Best seats possible would be behind home plate in the 300 level....which of course all went the corporate boxholders right out of the chute

In all seriousness, I like a tough guy on the team, a policeman to put fear into the opponent and keep them from taking cheap shots at the skill players. Like Schultz to Clarkie, Brown to the 80's teams. But in today's NHL that guy has to be able to play the game, and Shelley clearly can't. His salary is a waste of cap space, and his presence is a waste of a roster spot
