I agree 100%. There is absolutely no reason to have Rosehill in the lineup. If this team is serious about winning, they need to lose that dead weight.If they need someone who cannot score on the fourth line, put Hartnell there and bring back McGinn for the second line.

In your scenario, I'd take Yandle and Coyotes 1st rounder. I wouldn't trade Couts or Schenn at least not for draft picks. If I could move Couts for another stud D-man, I would do that. So, if things worked out, we'd have Yandle and [other stud D-man], Coyotes 1st rounder and Schenn. Laughton fills in for Couts.

Why can't Philly ever pick up a marginal player for "future considerations". Another draft pick pissed away.

If Lindros could have stayed healthy and the issues between him and Clark never existed, the team may have eventually been able to build the depth necessary for the team to win a cup. The Legion of Doom we're awesome to watch, but you are right. A one line team is not enough today.

I would do that trade in a heartbeat. I agree that Weber would not guarantee a cup. No one player can guarantee a cup. But players like Weber only come around so often and if you have an opportunity to snag one, you do it. The Schenn's "could" turn out to be great players, but Weber "is" a great player. With all that said, the Schenn's wouldn't be enough to land Weber and as you add more to the deal the less appealing it would be.

You have to have a lot of gall to be a Pens fan and call anybody out over an elbow or hit to the head.

@Vanflyer I was talking about the current system and why I think the league does it. I wasn't referring to your formatting. I was just saying that by artificially moving teams in weaker divisions like Florida to the top 3, the league gives that team a better chance to get out of the first round because they play a weaker opponent and they have home ice advantage thus improving the chance that a more geographically diverse selection of teams survive longer in the playoffs. If the Eastern conference was ranked properly Florida would play a tougher opponent and not have home ice and essentially their division wouldn't have a representation in the next round, which could lead to less fans watching the games because their region is not represented. Just speculation. I think that the current playoff structure is ridiculous and should be changed. But, then again, I don't agree with a lot of things that the league does (Shootouts, All-Star game drafts, instigator rule etc.)

The league won't change the current set up because it is all about giving more market areas a chance to cheer for a team. Under the current system there is a higher chance, that geographically, teams that move on in the playoffs will not be all from one area. For example, because the league has boosted Florida in the standings they have a greater chance of making it to the second round. This gives hockey fans in their region a team to cheer for. If they were at the bottom where they belong, they would have a greater chance of losing and then no teams would represent that geographic area. It's all about TV ratings, ad revenue, and fan support. The NHL could give a rat's *** about being fair. It's all about the money. I support the league level setup. It's the fairest option and I think it would be way more entertaining. Imagine meeting a division rival in the Stanley Cup finals!

I have to agree with AndyS. To trade two of your core players and then lead the league in scoring wasn't even on my radar. I wanted both Carter and Richards outta here, but I never thought it would happen. When it did happen, my expectations were that the team would suffer offensively, but they haven't at all. That was a big surprise and a welcome one!

After watching today's game, They should be seriously looking at getting a goalie. The Russian experiment in net needs to end. Bryz isn't going anywhere so I would do whatever it took to get Schneider or Bernier and sit Bryz as long as it takes to wake him up. If that didn't work, he wouldn't play any more. I'd pay him a fortune to sit in the rafters.

After my post, I checked the standings and came to that same conclusion. Dallas couldn't afford to lose two defensemen. I didn't realize they were still that close. At least we got one of their defensemen. I think we overpaid, but it's a step in the right direction. I expect that they will try to grab another defenseman before the deadline.

Every team in the league knows Philly needs defense so Digity raises a good point. But, these guys are UFAs so they shouldn't cost an arm and a leg unless another team creates a bidding war. I'd give up a couple of 3rd rounders or a 3rd and Wellwood or something similar. Maybe they would move the two of them for a 2nd rounder. I'm hesitant to give a 2nd rounder for a couple of rentals. But, I would like to see Philly solidify the D with a couple of big bodies so we have a chance of seeing more than one round of playoff hockey this year. I don't expect this type of move will win the cup, but you never know what can happen. We sure won't win anything with the current defense. I like what Bourdon has done this year, but I'd like to see him as #7 when the playoffs start.

Bill makes some great points especially needed two defensemen to replace Pronger. I think it's possible to do that to a degree. I think Philly should be kicking the tires in Dallas for "two" defensemen -- Souray and Grossman. Both have good size and Souray could bring a big shot from the point for the ailing powerplay. If either player plays well enough, Philly could sign them in the off-season. If they don't play well, they are free to walk and Philly can pursue other options. I'd like to see them both picked up as rentals. It's too early to tell what should be done with Schenn. I think he should go back to the AHL and develop. Next year, we re-evaluate the teams needs and ask a few questions: Can Schenn or Couturier be successfully converted to wing? Does the D need an upgrade because someone is playing too old? What does the cap situation look like? I'm expecting that the team will need to move salary and improve at least one D position. Schenn might develop into the player that Philly needs or he might be the guy that helps us nab a good D-man. Who knows? It's too early to say. There are some young forwards, some old D, and the team is right up against the cap so anything could happen. Thankfully, due to Homer's moves, the team has options.

I agree with leaving Schenn in the minors. It's clear that he isn't ready for the big league. It's amazing that he appears so lost and Couturier looks so composed. It's like night and day. I think Schenn will eventually be a good player in this league. He just needs more time to develop.

My sentiments exactly. What's the point of having rules if they are bent whenever the league sees fit. The shootout sucks, but it sucks even more when they don't enforce the damn rules.
