  1. Two trades. One day. Undersized power play specialist Calen Addison was dealt to the Sharks by the Wild for a 5th rounder and non prospect Adam Faska. Shortly after the Wild added Zach Bogosian from the bolts s for a 7th rounder Addison can QB a power play very well but is an awful defender and in spite of offensive ability from the back end because of deficiencies could not stay in the lineup. The Sharks desperately needed a puck mover on the back end, they have literally been playing five forwards on the power play. Bogo has mostly been a healthy scratch, he is solid as a 7th blueliner, stay at home, plodding, no offense but can defend in his zone. The exact opposite of Addison in fact. So young maddeningly soft offensive blueliner dealt away to save the coaches sanity, a meh D plus prospect, a slight pick upgrade and a decent stay at home defender the return. Sharks get offense, Wild get decent return and Bolts help an old friend get a chance to keep playing. Good deal for all.
  2. Glad to see them get the monkey off their back, Blackwood is a legit NHL goalie, played his tail off, I watched the replay, man Hertl wanted this one bad, he won one crucial faceoff after another and was double shifting much of the third. Duclair played by far his best game as a Shark, Eklund who is a nice building block played over 21 minutes. Even givani smith got in the act with the rough stuff. One night, one game, they got the desperately needed win, team still awful, but love for one game, lol.
  3. Caps after 12 games were 1-11. The all time record for most losses to start a year which the Sharks have tied is 11, set in 1943-44 by the rangers. No other team has ever went more than 8 games to start a year without a victory. The rangers actually had an excuse, it was the war years and their roster was depleted as players joined the military. Different world.
  4. Lohrei always looked solid with the buckeyes, he is HUGE and not afraid to use his size. I remember his last year at OSU, he was on the ice, game against Wisconsin I believe, a penalty was called against the opponent, he stayed on the ice for the entirety of the power play then another minute or so before he went out for a switch then he came back out about a minute later. In short, he was on the ice for about six of seven minutes still banging and bumping finally assisting a goal by Cole McWard (now a Canuck farm hand). People both teams switching constantly he looked strong and fresh the entire time Very raw defensively, like very, very raw. He makes up for it with size and snarl. In other words, a perfect Bruin. I don't believe he has had a fight yet but he is massive, he is going to hurt someone someday if they are dumb enough to challenge him.
  5. If San Jose loses they break the all time record for most losses to begin a season. Honestly I don't know who's under the most pressure, the sharks certainly don't want that ignominy but the flyers certainly don't want to be the first team to lose to them
  6. If the daughter of Scotty Bowman married the son of Al Arbour, and that child were coaching this team I don't believe they could do any better That said, I doubt Quinn makes it through the year. It is easier to fire a coach than to fire 19 players no matter how much they may deserve to be fired.
  7. Improvement. After losing to Vancouver 10-1, they performed much better last night against the penguins. They only lost 10-2.
  8. Hang in there, at least you have your bruins......
  9. Looking the roster over if the two vet centers don't waive there is literally nobody (other than a few kids who you won't trade) who will get more than a 5th or 6th rounder. Simply the worst non expansion team I have ever seen. Do you blame Grier? Do you blame the piss poor drafting on Wilson?
  10. This is the absolute worst non expansion teams in NHL history. Bar none. I know a lot of folks in Shark land accept it and hope they can deal assets at the deadline for high picks but other than Hertl and the injured Couture nobody on this flop of a team has anything other than negative value. Oh a few kids, but you don't trade them you use them as building blocks and hope they don't pick up too many habits from the foreign legion of a roster. This is such a bad team. And Hertl/Couture have no move deals and love San Jose.
  11. This bad 10-1 loss to the Canucks. In ten games the Sharks have ten goals, Vancouver scored ten against in one game. Bad of biblical proportion.
  12. Kinda wondering the same, whether he tried to hide what pinto had done or was obstructing the investigation. That whole situation still has a foul odor. He made so many dreadful trades and signings, trading a ransom for Debrincat then recouping about eighty cents on the dollar the most recent. long term deals to players too much too soon. But his first move should have gotten him fired on the spot. He dealt Zibenajad AND a second rounder for Derick Brassard. Other trades, young very good goalie Filip Gustafson for one very average year from the husk of Cam Talbot, (that one is for you @TropicalFruitGirl26 lol). God what an awful deal. He dealt Nicholas Paul for an ok player in Mathieu Joseph who he spent all off-season trying to dump the contract he signed Joseph to. He traded for Derek Stepan and his 6.5 million dollar contract from the coyotes who were broke and desperate and took on the whole contract. Did the same with gudbtanson when the ducks could no longer afford his 4 million per season. He gave up a second rounder to Pittsburgh for Matt Murray then signed him to a horrid long contract. He drug out trading mark stone and when he finally pulled the trigger all he got were two picks who bombed and brainstorm who is still fighting daily for an NHL job. He traded for Duchene waaaayyyyy overpaid. He did massively win the Karlsson deal getting top six center Josh Norris and the pick that turned into Stutzle. He also deserves credit for drafting extremely well His free agent signings were as bad as his trades, korpisalo will not live up to his five year deal. Most years he signed drl Zotto or hainsey or that type on one or two year deals and of course they had nothing left so the next year he signed another one just like them The Karlsson deal must be factored in but he was terrible at cap management, and for every Karlsson deal there were half a dozen of Stone, Murray, Zibenajad, Duchene, Debrincat trade one and Debrincat trade two. Glad he is gone. I love the young core he built through the draft but if he stuck around he would surely screw it up by trading a couple away
  13. Dude as a wings fan who could barely watch them for several years, you hAve my sympathy. This Sharks team could literally shatter several non expansion records for futility. Good match in cupquest btw. Congrats , I thought I had one move left Sunday but didn't. Probably wouldn't of mattered.
  14. In their last six games they have four goals. One goal four separate times, shut out twice.
  15. The Sharks lost night 3-1 to the Capitals. All things considered it was one of their best games. Really the goaltending and defense have not been bad. Or rather not horrible all things considered. Ok, maybe close to horrible but miles better than the offense. Through nine games they have nine goals. Alex Debrincat has nine goals. So through nine games the combined Sharks offense has as many combined goals as one player . Only once through their 0-8-1 start have they finished within one goal of their opponent. Their leading scorer is hertl with 5 points, which as bad as that is, it means he has been involved in over half his teams offense. It speaks volumes for how bad the rest of the lineup is The defense traded 101 points Karlsson has zero goals and seven assists. Zetterlund and Zadina lead the team with two goals each. Every single player is a minus in plus/minus. The goalies to be fair have a combined .907 save pct. But have an insane amount of rubber fired at them nightly the sharks are being outshoot by nearly fourteen per night averaging 38 shots against with a bit over 24 for. Already four times, nearly half they have given up over 40 shots in a game, three times the shots against has more than doubled shots for. Although both goalies have goals against in the threes, it is because the ice is tilted so badly their way. I did not mention either goalie by name to protect the innocent. They are like Custer on ice. Simply overran. They have been outscored 37-9. Literally they have been outscored by over 4-1 nightly. They only have one game where they were not outscored by two or more. They are last by a mile in goal differential. Last in power play. Last on the penalty kill. Last in takeaway/giveaway. Only bright stat is they are second in faceoffs because somehow, someway Hertl is playing his tail off. Couture is still not back from injury but he cannot be counted on as the savior, this is one of the absolute worst non expansion teams of all time.
  16. I am not gonna post the video. I watched it with my wife once and had to turn it off. It was sickening but it is out there for those who want to see it. 29 year old Adam Johnson from Hibbing Minnesota died on the ice when his throat was cut in a game playing for the Nottingham Panthers of the EIHL. He went undrafted coming out of Minnesota Duluth, signed with Pittsburgh, worked his tail off, earned a couple of late season call ups with the big club. After a few seasons with Ontario and then Lehigh valley he went to Europe to continue his career. Died on the ice last night. Sweet Jesus. 29 years old. I got nothing.
  17. Been watching a bit of this one, point is simply cutting through the sharks at will....
  18. Something rotten in Denmark. This has to be more than just gambling on the NCAA final four.
  19. Young forward Shane Pinto who has been holding out for a better contract while the Sens try to move a body to free up the money to make it happen has been suspended for half a season (41 games) for sports betting. It is all over the place as to what rule he supposedly violated. The big one in quite a few threads is that he may have bet on Hockey games that he was not involved in. AGAIN this is unsubstantiated, but it is out there as more than just a possibility. I cannot think that he would get 41 games for putting a grand on the Raptors versus the Knicks. Anyway, huge suspension out of the blue. Gotta think the whole story is a matter of days at most before the whole truth comes out......
  20. insane. This is deserving of its own thread.....
  21. @J0e Th0rnton and myself with a trade to announce Sharknado receives Hellboy Norris Foil receive Sid Meier Jack Campbell J0e simply cannot quit Hellboy. Good for 60 or so starts with a ton of shots against and great overall numbers. Norris is back, 4 points in 4 games but his speed is gone right now hence his dreadful minus 5 in last nights game. IMHO he reminds me of Kevin Hayes a serviceable player. Crosby and Meier fix what my team needed, I was short faceoffs and added the games best while Meier is a nice multi cat winger. Campbell is a victim of Edmonton's God awful defense right now, he is on a very short leash.
  22. I admit i was dismayed when Berggren began in the AHL (he was killing it early BTW) but the reason was he needed to work on his defense. Czarnik first call up frustrated me as well. Now Berggren will understand offense is not the end all. be all and will play a nasty two way game as well. Again, love the team so far. Beating Tampa and Pittsburgh but most importantly Ottawa so early set the tone.
