  1. Brelic, that's exactly what I'm talking about! We were rolling along nicely...sure it wasn't perfect but there was FLOW. Schenn came in and the engine stopped working. Like you said, I don't think it's his fault and he deserved the call-up, but it should just be interesting to see what happens....
  2. I don't know if Hitch and Stevenson's system rushed them in to being a star, but what both Carter and Richards went through in their first couple of years probably accelerated their development. Carter and Richards had a lot thrown them in their first couple of years going from a team that had one of the worst overall records to playoff contenders. I'll say they endured the ups and downs and situational troubles most players go through probably a little earlier. While it was a lot ot be thrown at a player in their 20's some players just are more mature than others and can handle it. I think we see that with Couturier. The kid seems very mature for his age and will learn a great deal this year being a household member with Briere. That type of mentorship can have a huge impact on a young player so we may see Cout's develop the mental edge to his game quicker. As far as physically.....the book is still out, but everything looks good so far
  3. I say keep him for now. He hasn't settled in to find his comfort level yet so I would hold onto him.... I'm curious to see who he is paired with when he returns from his injury and how that will affect the rest of the lines we've been rolling for the past couple of games.
  4. I looked at this signing like a dog cocks his head to one side when a high pitch sound is made. I was confused and also conflicted that we now have a man on our team that, like many of you have already stated, we're expected to hate. Learning how much he dedicates himself to conditioning and helping the youngsters, my skepticism turned into optimism. He has been a beast along the boards and is resembling a player who is 29 not 39. Lets all hope he can maintain this level of play past an 82 game schedule.
  5. This one is a head scratcher to me as well. Jagr should have been in there over Simmonds. You need to have your best shooters going first and not rely on the fact you may get to a deeper round. I use to coach and got burned in shootout for the championship game all because I was saving my best shooter....which we never got to. Jagr may be a little slower, but he can still put the puck in the net regardless of his shootout %.
