Well, yes, but what about the Flyers organization?
Well, it was a Fletcher decision...hopefully this regime would be smarter.

Think what they could have gotten if they traded him a year or two earlier.
Probably a limited return. Never been a great skater and any knowledgeable hockey mind would anticipate that declining with age. Injury history factors in...but the big one is the inevitable looming contract that the receiving team would be responsible for.

If everything fell the Flyers way (losing last 3 games) .. teams ahead of them needing to win the appropriate number of games the very best the Flyers could draft would he #8.
Its the Flyers...they will win all 3 remaining games and just miss out.

He's 6' 4" and apparently soft. He was scoring at a good pace, then like the Flyers he fizzled out when the games started to matter. Should fit right in.
Quotes from Swedish fans translated...
"Of course he has scored a lot of goals, but in the rest of the game I don't think he delivers at all anymore."
"Not delivered in goals or recently, Has scored 2 goals in the last 20? Surprised if he gets an NHL contract."
"It's just naive to think that with that club technique and puck handling he would even be considering an NHL contract"
"Eklind !!If, against all odds, you were to read what we fans think of your performance against Örebro yesterday, you would rightfully be ashamed.Stop loitering around on the ice, take care of yourself physically and don't let opponents who weigh 20 kg less than you move you, show your heart and f*** it.."
"Can actually agree a bit, with that size he has to ask some questions of the opponents! Get a little meaner, step on!The opponents did not hesitate at all and they had the stated goal of playing physically on us in EVERY situation, which it seemed they did."
"Did you see what Keegan Lowe yelled at Eklind after the whistle at 00:33 - "you are f***ing soft"..Eklind lowered his head and left.Away with him. Something is wrong with his head."
"Suits Eklind quite well though, he is extremely soft for his size,"I trust the fans here 100%. Talk about damning! Signing this guy, even for AHL fodder seems outrageous. Does not fit in the bottom six for the Phantoms and takes away a top 6 development spot for an up and comer...brilliant !

You spelled Celebrini wrong. (I'm saying there's a chance lol)
My understanding is you can't move up more than 4 picks...thought I heard that, could be wrong.

With one year remaining, NOT buying out Atkinson would be GM incompetence. Open a spot for a youngster, spread out the cap hit and the fans don't have to see 20+ games without a goal again. Easy peasy.

Apparently, Torts wanted to move into the upper management in Columbus and their GM wanted no part of it. Pure conjecture, but I believe he was hired with the promise a cushy Bob Clarke advisor role in the near future.
That future may come quicker than anticipated. It kinda looks like the team has quit on him....or maybe they are just crap...or maybe a combination.
Some more pure conjecture, have not read this anywhere...my own thoughts...but benching Coots, who is a very popular Captain and teammate may have pissed off players who are loyal to Coots and we are seeing the backlash in actual games....just a theory.

They only have one contract left for this year and i wonder if they are waiting to sign Rizzo with it the problem with that is he is out and hurt anyways.
Release one of the other contracts and sign Rizzo and Graf?

They need to go after college free agent Collin Graf

With their piss poor center depth do everything in your power to sign this kid show him the path to center should be the leat resistance in Philly.
Not saying he is a #1 by any means I am just thinking of add top talent for almost free Danny needs to chase hard after this kid.
Agreed...Graf would be a nice get in a real area of need. Nothing but cash to lose...GO GET HIM!!

I always wondered if anyone in the NHL ever thought/tried to bring in a Sumo wrestler, put some skates on him and just plop them in front of the net? sounds like a good idea to me
NYI former owner signed a Sumo wrestler...was quickly scrapped.

That doesn't hold water. If my ten year old knows that assaulting women is wrong, then a 20 year old should know. This isn't about a drunken sexual encounter. This is five guys who took turns on this girl and ejaculated and spit on her. Don't tell me they didn't know what they were doing was wrong. They knew.
They also walked in the room with Golf clubs in an effort to intimidate her into doing what they wanted

Didn't see this coming. Great news!

Sometimes these kids just "have it". With the KHL being a better league than the AHL, his stats say there is a real chance he's better than Sandstrom or Peterson. Maybe it was all meant to be...throw caution to the wind and let's catch lightning in a bottle!!

But damn we getting so many yanks moving down here it is crazy so many Buckeye and Wolverine fans live in my subdivision it is crazy.
Enjoy your stay I lived in Greensboro from 1997 to November 99. It's where I seen Lindros, LeClair and Coffee play back in the day.
I was in Greensboro once. Saw a Grateful Dead show there in the early 90s. Nice city.

My opinion is I'd prefer a high pick over yet another early round playoff defeat. That's all. My wording said that, and only that.
I've seen plenty of Flyer playoff appearances. Going back to when we actually made playoff appearances that sort of mattered, we went 4 rounds in 2010. That "experience" got us to 2 rounds the next year. Then 2 the following year. Then we missed the next. Then one and done the year after that. Missed again. One and done again. Missed again. One and done again. Then 2 rounds. Then missed, missed, missed.
Explain to me this playoff experience pay off? When does it actually take? Cause we've done this before, and it didn't.
Right now, we have 1 (one) up and coming potential star player in Michkov. If anyone thinks thats enough to make this team a cup contender, no wonder you thought Hayes and Deangelo would too. We didn't get him by having a playoff round either.
I've seen the mediocre Flyers for way too long. I've drank the orange koolaid until I almost drowned in it. You can get excited over them if you like, I'd get more excited over a talent infusion. I'll bet if they can get Michkov over here, he helps this team way more than yet another Flyer playoff that ends with a loss. Finding him an elite centre would also help way more. Good luck getting that where we pick.
This team is playing over its head, good for them. But when you're supposed to be rebuilding, and your farm team needs an overhaul, and you have one blue chip prospect and maybe another one or two that look like they may be NHL calibre, it just looks to me like the same thing that's been going on here way too long. Not bad enough to draft high end talent, not good enough to win squat. And here we are, right in the middle of the pack and everyones getting excited over "Just make the playoffs and anything can happen". Again. Fool me once, shame on you...fool me decade after decade...
Absolutely DEADLY ACCURATE post! THAT is the honest to God's truth!!

This is their playoffs since Briere didn't bring in an experienced goalie to help Ersson out, if they don't make it they'll probably have their 1st rounder between the 10th pick and 16th pick and then the Flyers will have another 1st round pick late in the first round depending where Florida ends up.
Ranta on waivers seemed odd to pass on.

Buddy, you okay?
Seeler's deal isn't even 3% of the salary cap. Zero trade protection after the second year.
Danny recouped the 5th round pick and used the 4th on an actual NHL defensmen who can walk at the end of the season. Belpido isn't better, Andrae is too young Southeran hasn't sniffed a call up. There's starting to be fewer healthy defenseman than there are centermen in the system.
It's fine to not like the moves.
I really don't understand where the hyperbole is coming from though.
The GM added a valuable asset for the future at this trade deadline.
Signed a coach's favorite to a modest contract with outs. He used a fourth pick to show his over-performing team he believes in them.
His moves are far from clueless or wreckless.
The problem here is careless treatment of assets. I want a GM who fights, scrapes, claws every last ounce out of every asset. Not giving them away as casual throw in or getting a 47 year old Dman who has been total crap for a decade for a playoff run that may never happen. Its poor asset management....pure and simple.
Southeran can only be called up on emergency basis only.
I still think Belpiodo is faster and a better option than Johnson.

You mean his old SHL team he never played in the KHL.
I just heard he was going back to Sweden is all.
But the Flyers have already waived him back to LV with Lycksell so they were Hextall draft pieces so i get it...no true allegiance other than being drafted by the Flyers.
Danny too is learning on the job guess we'll have to see where this team they built ends up.
Enjoy the ride.
Yes...he is signing with his old SHL team. Good point about being Hexy picks ..makes sense.

Not sure how long Drysdale and Risto are out for.
Have you heard the rumor Ginning is planning on signing with his old KHL team after this year?
