  1. I think watching the D this year was the most frustrating thing I've experienced in a long time. I watched every game. It's a miracle my big screen survived the season.
  2. We need a front line who understand that shots on goal have a higher value than pretty passes. We need a defense that is quick enough to take some chances and hit some people ( and yes, play like flyers ). To say this D was too soft would be the understatement of the year. Chief did ok but I would have called time after the second goal and kicked some a$$. Other than that... I feel we finished one game better that I would have predicted.... ( I thought it would be NY in 6 ). My one big question.... why the heck didn't we tank a few games to start off with the Pens. That would have got us into the second round.
  3. I see your "VLC sucks and raise with this... VLC sucks VLC sucks
  4. Hay maybe it's because the other people on his shift as taking a break while he's skating his a$$ off.... just saying
  5. Ok, I'm more that willing to tank this season... let's try for the most PMs for a goal then And then some great drafts. ( ok so I'm dreaming about the last part )
  6. Any team capable of putting a lot of pressure on our D will win... end of story.
  7. Two weeks to "get" rusty? They look pretty rusty right now <g>. Hay pull the C of G and let him concentrate on scoring rather then being the perfect "team" ( pass before shots ) guy. Heck put the C on someone else. I don't think there's a rule out there that the C has to go to the guy with the most talent. I'd rather put it on the guy who gives everything he has every second he's on the ice and can fire the team up. Trade 40 and 41... bring in some new vets who give 100 percent day in and day out and let the rest of the team grow up and learn what it takes to win.
  8. Man you can say that again.... I'm not a Zac is the great talent guy.... he isn't. But he gives 100 percent every second he's on the ice and I really think he's the only flyer that does. When he's not in there it shows.
  9. Ok, I agree trading off the young core is a bad idea.... _but_ there is zero excuse for not giving 100 percent and there's few on this team that do. I'd be happy to watch this team lose a lot more games if I saw a consistent effort but I'm not seeing it. I think that's a lot of the frustration we're seeing on the board right now... it's not the W/L record it's the effort / no effort record. Just an aside... has anyone timed the zone time in a typical flyers game... take two stop watches and push one when the puck is in the Flyers O and the other when in the flyers D.... you'll see a truly depressing result.
  10. Ok guys, I'm a fairly patient person ( you kinda have to be to be a Philly fan ) but this has gone on way too long. The only time we win is when our O makes up for the D.... if they don't it's no contest. In any case, I'm willing to blow up the rest of the season and start building a new D. There's been way too many turnovers and zero puck control. Does our D even care who they pass the puck to these days. Maybe it's time to pull the C and give it to someone else. I think Zac is the only flyer these days that seems to give 100 percent 100 percent of the time. Too bad he lacks the talent of some of our guys who seem to skate around in circles and just watch the game go by them. I don't know what the answer is but something needs to be done and I'm willing to give up this season to start the process now. Ok, I think I feel better now... maybe I'll even feel better after I get a drink <g>.
  11. Ok, I'll give you that one...but guess what, he's now playing the a$$hole and asking for even more money !
  12. It was a fair deal before they signed it...but now it's too much $$$. Reason? Every player in philly ( name your sport ) goes down hill a little after they sign big or extended contracts. Name one player who's play has improved after signing a big contract... I can't think of one.
  13. Very well said.... and I agree. We need some size to place some fear into the people rushing but also some speed so they can apply pressure and recover if it doesn't work.
  14. Have a question for the group.... Who controls the TV breaks.... i.e. when they happen. I never noticed this before but watching the game live... it seemed that whenever the flyers seemed to be getting some momentum... a TV break popped up. Maybe that was just the luck of the draw but it sure seemed that way. One of the nice thing about center ice and a dvr... you can spin through the breaks <g>.
  15. Agree... I'm sure our "Let's go Flyers" chant through a lot of the game was getting to him but no excuse for the physical stuff.... with luck he learned a lesson, but I would have rather not had the incident at all. Too bad there's not a way to put all the fans in separate sections As for what's left in the tank... I hope so. One could tell they were on the negative side of the energy curve right after the first puck drop.
  16. Well,,, just back to the hotel in Denver after the game. A few items for conversation. Number 1... the Flyer fan turn out was out of sight.... even more there this year than in the past.... REALLY nice to see. Already can't wait for next year. As for the game... the flyers looked like they've been on the road with little rest.... it showed on both the O side and D....but more on the D. I guess you all watched but two of their goals from what I could tell were the direct result of the D not picking up the trailers on the rush.... In some respects you maybe could say it was because they were tired...but I've seen the same thing when that wasn't the case. Another item of interest... We happened to be on Row one of the upper deck and with about 5 mins left, some ave fan actually attempted to toss one of my sons over the rail.... not a good thing as the son in question is 28 and a black belt.... sitting next to him was my other son (23) and then myself. I'm not going to go into detail in public but let it be said the flyer fans represented themselves well <g>. When I was in Philly I never witnessed anything this bad and the Philly fans have the bad rep.... too bad. For the most part I always thought the CO fans were well mannered to visiting team fans... well tonight was the exception... at least for us.
  17. Yea, I guess you are all right.... he only has so much to work with... it just seems sometimes with as little as 5 percent more effort, they could be so much better. I can't wait to see Morin come up and play some.... I have high hopes. Will be at the Colorado game tomorrow night... hope to see a bunch of orange there ( as we always do ). Go Flyers!
  18. I know he talks a good game and don't get me wrong.... I'm a chief fan. but sometimes I wonder what he's doing to try to improve the D. He can't be happy with the way they're playing right now... if we didn't have a goalie that is standing on his head to stop the puck, we'd be in very serious shape. An even more serious question..... I hope he's not coaching the D to play the way they are.
  19. AMEN to that... sometimes it seems the D is playing for the other guys.... they don't close on the puck when they have the chance... they back away and help screen our goalie instead... and not to mention passing the puck to the wrong team. Don't get me started.... I'll be drinking early tonight.
  20. That was a great shot... no doubt. Nice move by Chief for putting him in there... I had to question his first choice... but it worked out well with the next two !
  21. Well after his first play tonight, I was going to take back the nice things I said about Coburn... but the rest of the defense bailed him out by looking equally bad <G>. Thank god for # 12 !!! congrats on his first shootout win !
  22. Ok I've been pretty hard on Coburn lately ( jusified I think ) but it's only fair for me to say I think he played better last night. He actually hit someone..( I don't mind penalties as long as they send a message.) He also took a shot and got an assist out of it.... Both good steps in the right direction. Now hopefully he keeps going in the right direction.
  23. And who else would we bring in who can fight better ?
