Was it likely some kind of joke gone wrong? Yeah, probably. But, this is big money with big consequences. Big money means big responsibility, just like the ordinary person. I think he's a he'll of a player but I'm afraid he burned his last bridge. It seems to me that the captain should be held to higher standards and I don't think mgmt will accept this. So why not get the coveted defenseman?
I agree. But it's a marketing thing. You saw what happened to Richards and Carter and that was for things not plastered all over the media. Besides, we need a stud mean to build out from.
He has to be banging his head against the wall though. First, he's been handed a salary cap nightmare and now his star player has embarrassed the team, not to mention himself.
What a coincidence. I was thinking just yesterday how much of a return we would get for Giroux? I don't see this team being playoff competitive for quite a while unless some major shakeup happens on defense. If that can't happen then it makes sense to trade Giroux for a fortune and rebuild with quality prospects timed with the arrival of our defensive prospects already in the system.
I agree. Combine Eckblad with Morin, Haag & Ghost and we could a very good back end in a couple years. It's worth a crack as long as the price is reasonable.
Yes. Let the rebuild begin. Let's take the lead of the Pens & Oilers and start tanking the next 2 or 3 seasons for high picks. I'm not sure there is any other choice? Obviously, there has been a gross misjudgement of talent on this team.
The next 5 games are Rangers, Isles, Ducks, Caps & Devils. If they are to show improvement they should come out of that 3-2. Anything less than that and the season is pretty much in the toilet and I consider beginning the fire sale and start all over. And that of course would include the GM. The next 5 games will be the measuring stick, in my opinion.
