  1. Lots of injuries, wow. Wayne Simmonds injury timeline • Enters training camp with torn pelvis. • Oct. 17: pulled groin • Oct. 19: broken teeth from Mattias Ekholm’s stick • Late Oct: breaks ankle from Shayne Gostisbehere snapshot • Feb. 16: tore ligament in his hand.
  2. As per Holmgren: "Nicklas had successful surgery this morning to repair tendon damage in his right ankle suffered in Game 4 of this playoff series. Nicklas will be out of action for 8-10 weeks." [Hidden Content]
  3. He probably celebrated his goal a little too enthusiastically Source: CSN Link: [Hidden Content] "The Flyers' forward scored his first goal of the season in the Flyers' 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens, but sustained a left high-ankle sprain the process, according to Flyers general manager Paul Homgren. Rinaldo is expected to miss six weeks. As far as recalling an extra player, Holmgren told CSNPhilly.com the club has filed paperwork to get a roster spot. "Once that is official," he said, "we will recall a player. We can't announce anything due to the rules." Rinaldo's injury comes as a surprise, as he was in good spirits after the game and didn't walk with a limp or have any ice taped to his foot or ankle. He led all Flyers in shots against the Canadiens with four, but played just 4:53 -- significantly shy of his average of 7:30. Rinaldo had played in all of the Flyers' 44 games this season. He leads team with 101 penalty minutes and 135 hits."
  4. A few weeks ago I was going to suggest that Yeo was going to be the next coach fired this season as the Wild have slipped out of a playoff spot, but I'll retract those thoughts for now the team has more serious problems. I fully expect Yeo to remain behind the bench to the end of the season. The offseason will probably be a good time to move forward with a coaching change. The Wild placed Koivu on the IR today following ankle surgery and will miss a month. Parise is also on the IR for complications following a stress fracture, the timetable for his return is still unknown. Today also Harding was placed on the IR as he is not responding favorably to medication changes. Koivu, Parise, Harding and Suter have been responsible for most of the early success this season, but we aren't going to be able to count on Ryan Suter's hattricks on a regular basis so now is the time for the talented young forwards to find the net. Eric Haula has been recalled, that gives the Wild 3 centers under the age of 22. It is time to make a trade folks. The Wild need depth at center and possibly some more depth in goal if they want to contend for a playoff spot this season.
  5. Flyers GM Paul Holmgren says Vinny Lecavalier has a non-displaced fracture in his lower back. Starting with rest to handle discomfort. Lecavalier is looking at 3-4 more weeks from now, already missed a week.
  6. Source Wow, I forgot all about Vokoun's previous issue with blood clots. Surely some serious stuff. I'd say there has to be concern whether or not he will play this season. Maybe Bryz will get a call. -- sorry couldn't resist! In all seriousness though who do you think they will bring in on a PTO?
  7. For those of you who are not able to see the Flyers pre-season game tonight vs NJD, Jake was injured while being pulled down on a breakaway. He went down hard and looked hurt when he came up. He was awarded a PS but the injury was very evident as he skated the puck in very slowly and pretty much just weakly shot wide of the net. It was the 2nd worst penalty shot I have ever seen by a Flyer (the 1st was a PS by Hartnell a few yrs ago vs the Canes where he lost control of the puck on the way in and never really got a shot off). He played 1 shift after that and did not and will not return for the rest of the game. Let's hope it is not anything severe. [Hidden Content]
  8. source I haven't been able to find a video, but I would think this is one of those high sticking penalties that the league was planning to look at. Could be a tough start to the season with both RNH and Gagner out.
  9. Derick Helm can pretty much be written off as a future option for the Wings during the playoffs. He suffered another setback while skating lightly during the Anaheim series and has been told to stay off the ice indefinitely. The article goes on to say that that surgery isn't an option as the source of the injury hasn't been pinpointed yet? It is hard to say how much the team misses Helm's defensive play, or how much better they would be right now with him since they are collectively shutting down the Blackhawks.
  10. This was mentioned in the shoutbox. Phantoms lost left wing Eric Wellwood to a severe lower leg injury Sunday. Source
  11. Rinaldo's LBI appears to be his left foot as it was in a boot as reported on CSN. Said to be the same foot where he had a previous fracture. ?? not sure I remember that...... Lisa Hillary doesn't expect him to play tomorrow
  12. Report is Crosby had surgery for a broken jaw and is out indefinitely. [Hidden Content]
  13. Due to broken bone in upper body. Martin will require surgery according to Blysma. The first round of the playoffs might be rather interesting for the Penguins.
  14. Suffered in the Penguins 13 straight win. Haven't heard how long he will be out.
