  1. [Hidden Content] Brodin gets $6 millions annually until he's 34. Has the Wild been there before... I don't know what's there not to like about Brodin but woah, the Wild back end is a serious money pit now. Do they all stay or who goes? This can't be a "tweak".
  2. $2.2M over 2 years Excellent. Raffl is one of my favorite flyers.
  3. Each a 4 year deal. $28M Length seems appropriate. 7M each year.... maybe a bit much.
  4. The Leafs got the contract signed with the dollar amount they needed and Franson got the length of term. Franson will be eligible for salary arbitration next year.
  5. Well good deal here for the Rangers a 2yr contract worth $6.2M. Stepan was apparently looking for a sum closer to $7M. Some were saying earlier Stepan was looking for an offer sheet from the Islanders. - Which might have been quite interesting.
  6. Morin signed 3 year entry level contract with bonuses that could lead to a cap hit of $1.425M source
  7. It has been a long drawn out process as both sides were far apart, but a 2 year $5.8M seems like a decent compromise. I guess we will see Franson sign now for about 3M.
  8. 19 yr old Taylor Leier signed an entry level contract today before celebrating with a GWG in the Rookie game vs the Caps. He is expected to play a third season with the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL this fall, meaning his NHL contract would slide another season. That leaves us with 48 contracts. [Hidden Content]
  9. Sabres have announced they signed All American Dman Chad Ruhwedel from Lowell UMass. The 5'11 180 LB defender signed a 2 year ELC and will debut this afternoon for the Sabres against the Flyers.
  10. A lot of money, but it makes sense as Getzlaf also just signed an 8yr contract.
  11. [Hidden Content] Does this mean Halak is available? How I wish Homer is as smart as these GMs when handing out contracts,
  12. [Hidden Content] Not sure what this brings for the Sabres - insurance if the G kids don't pan out for this season?
  13. [Hidden Content] Would have been a GREAT pickup for the Flyers at that price!
  14. I heard this rumor earlier today it seems to be taking up speed. As the Flyers will sign Foster once the CBA is ratified by the players union. Foster has struggled some since he broke his leg a few years back. Prior to being traded to the Wild last spring he was playing regularly with the Devils. The Wild really didn't have a need for him once they signed Suter this summer. Foster has been playing in Finland and broke his collar bone Nov 20th. Bad luck, injury prone? yeah probably, but I think he's will be a good depth acquisition by Holmgren if it the deal goes through. Foster is 31 6'5 225lb, skates fairly well with a right handed shot.
  15. The Penguins had an embarrassment of riches in defensive prospects before the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Thanks to their work in that draft, they now possess perhaps the finest stable of young blue liners in hockey. Derrick Pouliot and Olli Maatta, both selected in the first round, signed three-year entry-level contracts that will be triggered when they opt to turn pro. “We already had a lot of talent in the system,” assistant coach Todd Reirden told the Tribune-Review this summer. “And we are very impressed with these two.” Pouliot is considered one of the finest offensive defenseman to emerge from the draft in recent years. The Penguins believe he has the potential to become a power play quarterback and a top-four defenseman in the NHL. They loved him before the draft but were only able to select him because of their trade with Carolina. As part of the Jordan Staal deal, the Penguins received the eighth pick. They did not hesitate in selecting Pouliot, who plays with the Penguins’ 2011 top-pick — defenseman Joe Morrow — for the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League. The Penguins then selected Maatta with their other first-round pick. Maatta and Pouliot will join the Penguins for training camp whenever it begins, pending the labor negotiations. Camp is scheduled to begin Sept. 21 at Consol Energy Center. While Pouliot and Morrow form a dynamic pairing of offensive players in the WHL, Maatta and Scott Harrington — the Penguins’ second-round pick in 2011 who has rapidly climbed the organizational depth chart — have given the London Knights a well-rounded pair of blue liners in the OHL. Maatta isn’t an offensive force but was considered one of the finest two-way defensemen in the 2012 draft. “He just does everything so well,” Harrington said. “He’s so good defensively and such a smooth skater. He’s one of those guys who’s just always in the right position. He’s going to be a heck of a player.” Neither Pouliot nor Maatta will compete for a job with the Penguins this season. The team is blessed with considerable NHL depth, to say nothing of prospects like Despres, Morrow and Harrington. However, the Penguins project Pouliot and Maatta as difference-making defensemen who could reach the NHL in two or three years. Source: [Hidden Content]
  16. Not seeing this anywhere (probably on Twitter or something) but my friend is telling me Simmonds is working on a 6 year extension with a $4 mil cap hit. Not a bad cap hit especially if he continues to develop some more, I'm a big fan of Simmonds and what he brings to the table every night. We'll see if this actually happens though.
  17. According to Renaud Lavoie of RDS, the Philadelphia Flyers have come to terms on a one-year, two-way contract worth $600,000 with restricted free agent Harry Zolnierczyk. [Hidden Content]
  18. I take this signing that nashville will not match the flyers offer and will not be back so they are getting their other rfa's or fa's signed. "Less" money to sign Weber now. Looking good for Flyer fans News from Nashville: Siarhei Kastsitsyn (NSH) has settled: 2 yrs AAV $3 mil. — Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) July 23, 2012
  19. Sabres 12th overall pick this season Mikhail Grigorenko has signed his entry level contract. Both first round picks Girgensons and Grigorenko are now under contract. Unlike Girgensons however, if Grigorenko does not make the team he will go back to the QMJHL with Quebec. The Sabres recently have been more connected to trying to acquire wingers. Could be a sign they are hoping one or both of these player make the opening night roster. Unless Grigorenko is a complete flop in training camp, I think he will be given the 8 game try out at least before he can be sent back to juniors. More info at www.sabres.com
  20. 1 year 4.5 [Hidden Content] As per @Real_ESPNLeBrun. Jaromir Jagr has agreed to one-year, $4.5-million deal with the Dallas Stars.
  21. [Hidden Content] The #Flyers have signed D Bruno Gervais (2 years, $825,000 avg per season) and F Ruslan Fedotenko (1 year, $1.75 M)
  22. The Sabres second 1st round pick this year Zegmus Girgensons will not go to the University of Vermont and has instead signed his entry level contract. Girgensons has turned a lot of heads at Sabres Development Camp this week and could make the team. At this point Girgensons looks to be more likely than Grigorenko to make the club.
