JvR is a 25/55 guy in a bad year. Last year he was very good 5 v 5 and his play driving was maybe his best season.

The Ristolainen trade is still terrible but this one is a major improvement.

 

Team needed a goal scorer with some grit more than a floating assist machine.

 

Very surprised CLS pulled this trigger. I suppose that they are hoping Vee becomes a setup man for Laine but there's still a lot to get through.

 

I hope Ristolainen brings an improved game under an actual NHL coaching staff.

Welcome to Philly Cam i have to say i have always like his game...and he always killed the Flyers!!!

More palatable contract for Atkinson...good, hard nosed player who puts the puck in the net here and there....and we GOT RID OF JAKE! What's not to like? I almost feel like the Flyers won something. Honestly. Pop the champagne, indeed! The Voracek Error is over!

definitely seeing a trend, the Flyers are going to be tougher to play against.

Giroux, Couturier, Atkinson

Farabee, Hayes, Konecny

Lindblom, Frost, Allison

JVR,  Laughton, NAK/Wisdom/Foerster

 

Provorov/Ellis

York/Risto

Sanheim/Braun

 

 

Won't happen my way, so I'm fine with yours.

I just threw it together i what whatever works.

 

They need to keep the puck out their net first and then put it in the other net.

 

Cam put up 15 goals on a not so good team would have been 5th on Flyers behind Farabee, Coots, JVR and Giroux.

 

I didn't realize that Atkinson was a 40 goal scorer in 2018-19 the last full season.

 

Well this sounds like an upgrade in my mind always loved Cam's hustle for a guy who isn't very big.

It was straight up.  No picks involved and no retained salary.

Maybe not, maybe he plays his off wing?

I think if you can add Vlad and keep the cap about the same, you try to do it. 

So if this were to happen, I doubt it does,  I would push Allison down the depth chart and I wouldn't think twice.

Honestly, at this point in their careers,  I probably stick with JVR over Tarasenko.  And I definitely stick with JVR + B prospect + Allison over Tarasenko.

 

I was willing to do it for Voracek, but I'm not as willing to overlook Tarasenko's health on this one.  If I was more sure Vlad would play as previous, then yeah, but I really have no confidence there.

I don't think so.  We still have Risto. Lol 

 

IF I'm wrong (wouldn't be the first or last time) and change of scenery and voice helps him be even half of what the Sabres drafted him for, then this whole thing in aggregate is actually masterful.   

 

I'll take the Ellis and Atkinson part already, though.

Probably.   And I think it's awesome, actually.   We didn't give up a pick and we didn't retain.  And we got a shooter that plays hard and can help significantly on the PK.   And has a lower cap hit.

 

The only downside--and this probably saved having to use a pick--is the longer term.   We probably won't be thrilled with this when he's 36.   But for now, I'll take it.
