Sabres Strip Eichel of C

This train wreck of a franchise finds new ways to botch things up every time! They completely mishandled this situation with the human chia pet. Had no choice but to strip him of the C. As always:

Buffalo is gonna Buffalo

Yeah waiting until right before training camp is a little much.

IMO, the act of demanding a trade and defaming the organization should have warranted this action months ago.

I'd feel bad for many of my Sabre-loving friends in WNY, but many of them are turning into "who are the Sabres, again?"

Their fans do deserve better.

As a Flyers fan I feel their pain...just not quite as excruciating.

Just my opinion, but he's pretty much done...

Can't imagine he will be playing anywhere this year, if ever. Surgery won't be easy either way it's done, then there's recovery and rehab. How did the neck get hurt anyway? Or is this congenital?

Probably from trying to carry around his giant head while he was ordering which coach or gm to hire and fire.

Tanking....it usually doesn't end well.

That was just Bettman handing Crosby over to save the Pens franchise....they tanked for Mario.

And won a Cup as well...

The fact it worked - at least twice - encourages others to try.

It does apparently encourage others to try. But it hasn't worked a lot more (if winning a cup equals worked)

I would take the embarrassment of tanking for McDavid.

Do we have other significant examples of the strategy being employed (in the NHL) beyond Buffalo?

Honestly, the Blackhawks were godawful for a heluva long time and it worked out for them with Toews (3) and Kane (1) (also, too, a significant change in who was sitting in the owner's chair).

The Caps got Overchicken (1) and Backstrom (4).

That's more than half of the past 12 Cups between the Caps, Hawks, and Pens.

Billionaires firing everybody that works for them and putting them on government assistance in a pandemic then demanding local taxpayers finance their new billion dollar stadium?

That's fine.

A general manager might screw up dealing with an entitled sportspuck player who has demanded a trade?

Lynch mob.
