yave1964
With the season days away Carey Price has stunned the league by entering the players assistance program, meaning he will be seeking help for an unspecified reason and be away from the team for a minimum of thirty days. Kind of a stunner. Never been a fan but hope that all is well.
JR Ewing
According to Angela Price, it's an issue surrounding his mental health. I hope he recovers as soon as possible.

It takes a true man to admit he needs help and I hope this serves as a lesson to others that are struggling with mental health issues that it's ok to ask for help. If you won't do it for yourself doing for the ones who love you and that you love. I hope this helps him and he can come back healthy and ready to play. Good for him. It's got to be additionally daunting knowing that request for help will be known by the world. Good for him for the guts and hope he gets the help he feels he needs.

Exactly the point....imo, he's high profile, and not ashamed to admit/seek help, that is what a leader/role model does....he's one of the better guys in the game, and i hope he gets the help he seeks.

And this is what sometimes or most times is the hardest part because in today's world everyone has an opinion on it good or bad mostly bad which why most don't seek the help they need.

Popular Post mojo1917
stigma [ˈstiɡmə] NOUN a mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance, quality, or person. "the stigma of having gone to prison will always be with me" · [more] synonyms: shame · disgrace · dishonor · stain · taint · blot · blot on one's escutcheon · blemish · brand · mark · slur · smirch See also mental health. Like everyone else here I applaud Carey Price for seeking help and I wish for him peace. For so long mental health has been associated with moral failing or flaws in character. The brain is an organ just like the pancreas. It just does way cooler **** than process sugar for the body. If the Pancreas can malfunction why can't the brain? It is brave for a public person to admit they are having a problem. I hope 31's announcement that he is seeking treatment helps to destigmatize mental health issues. So people who need help seek it out and can contribute to society. 3

His charitable work is above and beyond. He's a great goalie. He's proud of his native heritage. What's not to like? What I dont like has nothing to do with his heritage or anything off ice, I feel he is hands down bar none the most overrated player in all of hockey today, and would probably be a first or second team all time overrated goalie ever. Looking at his last five years; 2021 2.64 goals against 21st among goalies. Save pct of .901 40th among goalies (A quick note, this is not including goalies such as Craig Anderson who got into a few games, I am using only goalies in both cases who played at least one third of their teams games) 2020 2.79 goals against, 32nd in the league, .909 save pct, 31st in the league 2019 2.49 12th in goals against .918 12th in the league 2018 3.09 goals against 44th, save pct of .900 save pct 45th in the league 2017 a very good year. 2.26 goals against, 6th in the league, .923 save pct7th in the league. Th Price of the previous four years was a damn fine goalie, one of the best in the game, he was very good in 2016-17 6th or 7th in most goalie stats this year which is not elite but very, very good. but since then.... I have a friend who is a Hab fan, loses his mind when they win, is impossible when they lose, we sometimes spar and disagree over things like Kotkaniemi or Weber/Subban or whatever but one thing we have in common and the statistics absolutely prove this is for the past four seasons he has not only not been elite he has been a replacement level goalie, nothing more or less. Yt if you say this to some fans they get angry, because he was drafted number five in his draft class and anointed the next one, he looks the part, I wish i was as good looking as he is for one damn day, lol, he looks the part, he sounds the part but for four years he has been an average level goalie at best. The stats say this, the eyeball says my god the man looks the part and sounds the part but the raw numbers say otherwise. Would the Habs have made the cup final last year without him? Jake Allen bested him in every single goalie stat last year and not just by a little but by a fair amount, a healthy Allen may have led them as far as Price took them. It was a wierd covid shortened season one that needs to be quickly forgotten. But yes, Price was a huge factor in the Habs impressive run. They didnt win, but okay, after 14 years in the NHL he finally got them past the second round, so yay, I guess. He is paid as the number one goalie in the game which he clearly is not. Is that his fault? No, not one bit. If someone in the office offered me five bucks more an hour than the guy next to me who is clearly better at the same job, I am gonna take it. So should he. I never fault anyone for making as much as he can. But I see him kind of like Ben Affleck, he looks the part but there really isnt much there. His record in the last four years which is an enormous amount of time, we are not talking a few bad weeks, his record over four years is 90-82-26. That is not 8 games over .500 those 26 one point games are losses, so another way to look at it is 90-106. I will end it there. Wish him the best in rehab, hopefully all goes well, that is sincere. On the ice, he is now and has been for four years not counting this year just another goalie. Period. And that is what counts. He won the Vezina in 2015 (deservedly) and the Hart the same year (Arguably deserved it but I would have went with Ovechkin) he has never won anything else, in fact his next closest Vezina showing is 3rd once, other than that he has never finished higher than seventh. He only had the one brilliant year where he was first team all star goalie, other than that he has never been a first or second team all star. Ever. I like to look at top three comps of a player, for Price entering this his 15th season his top three comps statistically are Rgoe Vachon, Curtis Joseph and Tomas Vokoun. Vachan somehow stumbled into th Hall, the other two wont, all were very good goalies none ever was world class. So that is why I dont like Price. I dont care if he is proud of his heritage, or if he is nice to his wife and loves puppies, or if he is a good looking man who looks the part, so is Affleck who cant act, lol. I care about what happens on the ice period. Price is a good goalie, closer to average than to very good at this point of his career. He peaked and is now and has been for four years just another goalie but people continue to call him among the best in the game which statistics clearly prove to anyone who wants to see that he is not. He peaked six years ago with a brilliant season, had two more very fine years after that and now for four consecutive years has been middling. He gets too much credit 1 1
