musky
Think about it for a second. Sorokin has three shutouts in nine games. That’s a 33% shutout percentage. And it should be higher. He should have got one in Chicago and that one in Montreal that Barry apologized for. He should be at six shutouts in nine games. Or a 66% shutout percentage. Again, ridiculous. mojo1917
At some point the spell will break and he'll go back to just being very good. Enjoy the hot streak. It's keeping your team in the hunt despite the ridiculous schedule to start the season.

TropicalFruitGirl26
Outstanding numbers for Sorokin, no doubt. And for right now, it seems he has even stolen the full time starter's job from Varlamov as Varly hasn't been able to get into a game despite being available the last few games. At the end of the day, the Isles will need both Sorokin and Varlamov sharp and ready, if the team really wants to take the next step in the playoffs. Believe it or not, I do have them as Cup contenders based on their performances against the very best the last two seasons, the fact that they kept their roster mostly intact for this season, made some solid additions, and it appears some player are becoming even better or starting to emerge. As for Sorokin, while I think it is very possible he remains the number one all season on the Island, and that his numbers can be Vezina worthy, for right now, I think they are a bit TOO high, and the law of averages will bring him back down just a bit. Not saying he will fail, falter, or isn't as good as he is showing...just saying... a sub 2.00 GAA and a nearly .940 SV% would be REAL tough to maintain throughout the course of a long, grueling season. In the meantime though, he is doing exactly what the team needs during this time where everyone is likely road weary by now. There are some underperforming players on the team (that should change as well), but thanks to Sorokin's play, the underachievers haven't really hurt the team as much as had the goaltending been average or below average. Isles fans should be very proud and excited about this season. It could be their year finally and appropriate that on a Barry Trotz coached team, it starts with stellar goaltending!
