Put him at 1 LW so we can move Giroux to 2C.   😎

What? And take Evander Kane's spot? :5a6425fa25331_VikingSkoool:

The Leafs never stopped being Cup contenders!   😋

They have competed for the Stanley Cup every year since 1967. :hocky:

Did Kane gamble at the same casino that Hayes did or something?

Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.

Can't play that way against a team with as many skilled players as the Leaves{sic}.

Not a good look vs a team that's playing game 2 of a back to back on the road.

The Flyers under AV have always looked mildly retarded when coming back to the rink after a couple of days off.

I was surprised by how effective the Leaves® tfg  defense was and how well they managed their breakouts, the breakouts weren't really surprising, but it was noticeable how well they handled the Flyers forecheck.

The 3-nil result was just, in spite of the shot totals.

I'm glad they finally took 9 off the point on pp 1.

That unit is way, by miles more effective with 3 back there. I get wanting to reward solid play with more time yada, yada, but Provorov isn't a dynamic PP QB, and that's okay. He can be good at a lot of other **** and catch a blow when the team goes on the PP.

I don't know how Carolina is doing it after ****** up their roster but they are playing well, and then b to b with significant travel to Dallas vs a team that should be better than their record. The competition gets tougher after that, I hope dudes can return to the lineup, be effective and then stay there for a little while.

The team has exceeded my expectations for where they would be once Hayesy went on LITR and Ellis' body quit working. But, the cracks are showing against good teams they'll continue to expand.

Looking at the Leafs realistically, with their current group of players, they're in the top 16 of the league and are one of these teams who could (in theory) win if everything breaks just right for them.

It just seems that NOTHING ever goes right for the Leafs come playoff time. On paper, they're every bit as good as the teams that make deep playoff runs (albeit a notch below teams like Tampa). There's no explanation for why a team like Vegas (for example) can make deep playoff runs and not the Leafs. There's no reason why a team like Montreal can get to the Finals and not Toronto. Toronto had Montreal down and out in that series and then choked (as usual). It just proves that the Leafs can beat any team out there (except Tampa, jury still out on that) and if they ever caught a break they could do some serious damage in the playoffs. It's just astonishing that it NEVER happens.  :(

True though they didn't show much last night. The PP didn't give up a shorty and that's about all either unit did right.

I wonder if Provorov has reached his ceiling in the NHL. He's a valuable top-pair Dman, plays a ton of minutes defending against the best. He and Braun have played well together. If there's a "but" it's that the excitement I remember when he first came up has all but disappeared. I wonder if he's seen by the club as basically a finished product. I hope not, I hope the coaches are pushing him to be better, and not just the way all coaches get on you but specifically working with him, especially his shot selection/accuracy and his reads on offense.

Yes but the Stanley Cup is always in Toronto at the HHOF... so at least the fans can see it anytime they want to.  :)

(I'm sure the Leafs players could buy a ticket and see it at the HHOF too if they want to get close to it and take a selfie.)

at some point you got to stop pointing fingers at the coaching staff and just accept the fact that this team isnt good enough because changing coaches has done nothing, fletch is doing everything he can to get this team into a contention, at some point the players from last year have to step up, if not then there's nothing you can do about accept, just trade players for better talent. talent level on this team can only get them as far as they can go., it doesnt matter what coaches you fire and bring in, it's not going to change anything.

So you took my comment about the team being sluggish after a break as pointing a finger at the coaches?

I mean, it's a factor but I don't think it's the factor. And I think it's wild that that was your take away.

The team did just throttle the Capitals on the road for 40 minutes then played the 3rd well enough to secure a fine road victory. That's the same not good enough group that wasn't sharp last night.

The team as it is now isn't in it's best trim. Allison, Hayes and Ellis will make the team harder to play against and provide some skill, Brassard was signed as a luxury JIC and he's playing way further up in the lineup than anyone anticipated.

Yandle has been really good too QBing the power play but playing with Nick Seeler who is game and can skate isn't what was envisioned.

The team is playing way better than I was anticipating when I learned of the Hayes injury combined with the cryptic Ellis not skating today preseason reporting, they're doing fine.

I'd say, based on her commentary in intermissions of the Fly-Leaves game, Taryn Hatcher is firmly in the blue. :shifty:
Oh, and thanks to @mojo1917 for trademarking "Leaves" for me. :bigteeth:

It is brilliant and deserves recognition, now that the VeeGees® Radoran   are no more there was room in the registry .
