Greetings:

 

I just read my profile and noticed its been 10 years since joining the board. I am not sure if it was Radoran or FC who led me over, but I recall a group who defected at about the same time.  We have a good gig--civil and intelligent, with some humor and street wisdom.  Thanks to our leaders, HF, pilldoc, and Tropical, and all the Supporting Members.  

 

Let's hope for another decade in good health...maybe one with a Stanley Cup along the way.

Very happy I was picked up 10 years ago in the expansion draft! 
 

I appreciate all of the hard work by those that made this site happen and keep in running smoothly. I also appreciate many of the members on here for all of their engagement. Hope you all feel the same when I contribute.

After some discussion, we decided we'd let anyone in here.    Really spiffy Chevy's and Chain Restraurant VIP card not required.

When you read and hear about the poison of so many web-based outlets, this exception is very special.  It is worth celebrating.  I've said it before and say it again, this is an extended family.  I really hope we stay happy, healthy, and engaged for years to come.

I reached out to him a few months ago . He said he was ok....just old. I miss his stories on here, they were always great.

I was NOT one of the OG Founding Members here, as I came aboard in late 2013, nor obviously, was I a member of the old philly board, but I want to thank everyone here for welcoming me aboard, @hf101 for giving me responsibilities around here, and every single poster, mod, and site manager that has simply treated me like just another sports nut, leaving out gender and the fact that I am from the state of Florida (believe me, those two things, on the internet sometimes are things people somehow hold against me  ), and just overall making me feel very much a part of this wacky, dysfunctional, fun group.

That in turn, makes me want to go above and beyond, whenever I can, for members here if they have an issue, a question, or just need a truly impartial person to listen to them.

Without getting too mushy here, and no one here will ever truly know, but visiting here on a daily basis, and doing what I do has helped me in my personal family life as things aren't always rosy, sometimes has been tragic, and I have steered clear of any self destructive behavior so that I can continue being Super Mom and the best wife I can be.

Thanks again to HF and @pilldoc for keeping this thing going, and everyone else who simply make this what it is.
We certainly aren't Utopia, and we have had our share of squabbles here (even amongst staff at times.... shhh), but at the end of the day, this place is many times better than some of the line of places I was a long term part of, and we always somehow managed to iron stuff out.

And, not to play favorites at all, but special thanks to @ruxpin, @yave1964, and @J0e Th0rnton, whom I have found to be especially tolerant and accepting my often quirky behavior.

But on the whole, all you certifiable nutjobs, ironically, play a part in keeping me sane through life's sometimes unfair scenarios.

Well, hell....let's make it a double, then renew the contract again in 2031!  

PS:
Shame on me, not mentioning @Digityman's doing in founding this place.
If I am not mistaken, he helped get this place rolling with HF way back in the beginning even before I got here.

This is very true regarding toxic environments elsewhere.
Like I said, even though we are far from perfect here.... nails need to be hammered once in a while, scrums break out occasionally, etc.... we keep things very decent around here.

I've been a part of forums, and modded in forums, where it was like the Wild West, and early on in my "Foruming Career", I thought that was normal.
Now that I've been spoiled by HFForums . net, I won't accept anything less than what we have here.

You wouldn't believe (or maybe you would!) some of the nasty stuff hurled at people, and to myself in particular, in other boards.....and many times it was done with impunity.

If I have been here 8 years already, then it means you all are doing something right.
