I'm trying not to kill him yet, but it is getting difficult. The team is not playing well in front of him lately, but he was supposed to be a goalie that will win games single handedly and carry the team through slumps. Except for maybe 2 games this year, he has been exactly that. After so many years of the fans and media calling for a true number 1 goalie, the management went out and got the best one that was available. The management, fans and maybe even the players expect the world of the guy - especially at 9yrs 51 million - from the start of the season. They are getting average....again. He's off his game but the team defense is horrible. 20th in GA/GMaybe it's a slump. Maybe he isn't comfortable in a new system. Maybe he can't stop staring at Giroux's porn stash..... SV% .902 = 43rd in the league (Bob - .877 - 64th)GAA 2.75 =38th in the league ((Bob - 3.66 - 66th)When one of those two get their game back even remotely, the Flyers (when healthy) will be right in the hunt till the end.Maybe even Danny finds his stride. It may be a bit premature to talk about buying out his contract...On the other hand I'd be happy if someone would take him out behind the barn and shoot him. I'm already sick of this guy. I didn't want him at all, much less for 9 fkng years at >$5mil per.So many posters over the summer were saying "Yay we finally got a legit #1." All I could think was "maybe, but winning reg season games in Phoenix isn't at all like winning in Philly, where the expectations are to go deep in the POs every year. Maybe we better wait before anointing him the savior of the Flyers."It's early, blahblahblah. At this rate Bob should get a chance to prove himself - and that's one bright spot in this mess. I have a hard time believing that. They're running a business. And he's tradeable... regardless of the NMC or contract, he's tradeable. One of the reasons for the poor GAA for both goaltenders is due to the fact that the flyers have taken the most penalties in the NHL. Most of their penalties are stick-related and lazy penalties – hooking, tripping, interference. All avoidable penalties. Some of these penalties have often come at the most in opportune moments of a game, giving he goaltenders a poor shot at winning. The defensive coverage has been inconsistent. The d-pairs have changed in recent weeks because of injuries.All of the above factors in the play and inconsistancy of play around the net. If the reason was to keep a distance from the rest of the team due to illness, then that completely makes sense.
