It all they have left to try to change their plans to fix this...all you have left to SHOW them. A few weeks ago, flyers scored a goal, and the camera focused in on the guy with the painted face. He was screaming like it was game 7 and they just tied it up. I'm sorry, but I wanted to punch him in the face. He might get paid to show his enthusiasm, but if you're not upset about what's going on, and one goal in a meaningless game during a meaningless season gets you that excited, you're not a fan. I wish it would be completely empty also, but I think (hope) they got the message already.
FD19372
I think they have, by and large, stopped going to games. Maybe the Flyers will have a "Weekend at Bernie's Night". Edited March 4, 2022 by FD19372

Looks like they scratched Mayhew - perhaps some accountability for not getting out for the power play *checks notes* 10 games ago? Hayes says he wants to come back "for the city." "The city" doesn't even know who he is and cares less.

That will make a nice banner for the rafters...

They'll probably get 9th place, too, but only because it would serve them better to go the other direction.

And he can follow JVR out the door next...yes i have had maybe a sip...or three. Edited March 4, 2022 by OccamsRazor #boubonup

I mean seriously. As depressing as the flyers are, that's 1000x depressing. And deserved. I mean, they're getting paid huge money and there's no evidence they care. Why should people care enough to pay through the teeth to watch?

You think it’s bad now, wait until after the trade deadline when it’s a team with all kids and a few remaining vets.

ruxpin
I won't watch this team until the list of shitcanned worthless old people include Clarkgren, Scott, and Fletcher. Until then, any changes are pointless and futile. Edited March 5, 2022 by ruxpin

Well at the start of this season I bought tickets for 5 games in Philly and the two in Buffalo. Those were at full price I have one trip down there left in April and then one trip to see them in Buffalo. If I tried to sell them now, I’d lose my shirt. So I guess I’m stuck paying premium price to watch the phantoms play the Ducks and Sabres. On a positive note I’m gonna get a chia pet of a player that doesn’t even play for the Flyers at the Ducks game so I have that going for me. I want to see it completely empty. It all they have left to try to change their plans to fix this...all you have left to SHOW them. Right on, done and done. No more going to games for me. I'm doing my part. Related: I went to the local Food Lion yesterday, with my Flyers hat on. Ran into a dude with a Flyers hat and a Flyers shirt. And that's weird, this is Richmond, Virginia, after all. We chatted for a bit, seemed like a good guy (hey, Mr. Guy, are you on this site???). Talked about the Flyers being bad for literally the last 15 years, and especially so right now, and I said there was no way of actually "fixing" a team in today's NHL. But I hadn't really thought about it much, it just came out. How DO you fix a team in today's NHL, though? @OccamsRazor, you said the above like fans not showing up would force management to fix the team, but.....what would they do? What SHOULD they do? Has it happened over the last 10 years that a team has been "fixed", outside of the lucky occurrence of a (or several) draft pick or young prospect turning out perfectly, or better than perfect and way above expectations? Or is the league now basically all about unpredictable churn, and things inexplicably aligning for a hot second, enough to rise up through the ranks for a few seasons? The salary cap means you can't just patch holes as they show up. Used to be you could trade picks and prospects for established talent, but today the money has to equal out, too. And then, what "holes" do you patch up? As far as I can tell, the current game is all about speed and stick handling. It isn't like teams are a complicated mix of passing, shooting, checking, defensive awareness anymore. Chess has become checkers. You used to build a team that was a careful mix of kings, queens, bishops, rooks and pawns (screw you, knights). Today, it seems to me it's about kings, queens and rooks. A superior all around player on your top line, a specific compliment to him, and then FAST for as much of the rest of the roster as you can manage. If you have pawns on your team, you are toast, they can do nothing to help you. That's so very thin. And so very temporary. Speed fades into a player's mid-20's. 27 is past-prime for all but the weird elite. I dunno. That's why I stopped caring. The game doesn't have a strategic layer anymore; it's all tactical go-go-go. It's basketball, end to end rushes and see who can dunk best. The days of a Maltby-Draper-McCarty line being vital to a team's success is past. Those three may very well not have been NHL players today, as absolutely critical as they were to the Wings' success in the '90's. How do you build a team to the chaos of a speed first/last/only model? I'm convinced that half of today's NHL players would be career minor leaguers 20 years ago. They are fast and tricky with a puck, but that's it. As the game is called today, though (starting with the removal of the two-line pass rule, followed by the "if he isn't looking at you, you can't hit him" rules), their narrow talents make them ideal players. That shallowing of relevant capabilities, and the cap's restrictions on moving said capabilities around, makes the league a game to game and season to season crap shoot that you cannot plan against. Unless you draft one (or two, or three) generational talents (good luck leaning on that). edited for: forward slashes are way cooler than hyphens.
